So Florida Goes to the Polls to Nominate an Abortion Supporting, Gun Controlling, Obamacare Pilot Program Operating Republican

So Florida heads to the polls with Mitt for Brains Romney well in the lead according to the polls. Romney should gain his largest win of the primary season today, and I am left scratching my head wondering why looking at the Romney record.

You see, the Romney record looks an awful like the Obama record, which means come October when the general election heats up and the debates are on, all things to hold against Obama in an election suddenly becomes neutralized.

Romney is the abortion supporting, gun grabbing, tax and spend, government mandate loving Republican who looks no different than Obama. In fact, the case could be made Romney raised taxes more time than Obama, and Obama's 40% approval rating is five points higher than Governor Romney's approval rating in Massachusetts at this point in each man's term.

So Florida will ensure liberalism sweeps through the GOP this year giving voters little choice, and despite the Romney record, people still want to believe he is a conservative. He's not, but he will destroy the conservative movement if elected.

Florida reminds me once again that George Carlin was right about the voting public. They are clueless. They suck! Liberal republicanism and moderates don't win national elections! Dole, McCain... and coming soon to the list--ROMNEY.

Newt, meanwhile, has committed himself to a lunar colony by the end of his second term, and, while pandering to an audience on Florida's "Space Coast," he added that, as soon as there were 13,000 American settlers on the moon, they could apply for statehood. Ah, the old frontier spirit: I hear Laura Ingalls Wilder is already working on "Little House In The Crater."

Maybe Newt's on to something. Except for the statehood part. One day, when America gets the old foreclosure notice in the mail, wouldn't it be nice to close up the entire joint, put the keys in an envelope, slide it under the door of the First National Bank of Shanghai, and jet off on Newt's Starship Government-Sponsored Enterprise?

There are times for dreaming big dreams, and there are times to wake up. This country will not be going to the moon, any more than will be the British or French. Because, in decline, the horizons shrivel. The only thing that's going to be on the moon is the debt ceiling. Before we can make any more giant leaps for mankind, we have to make one small, dull, prosaic, earthbound step here at home – and stop. I am sorry, but I thought our founding fathers was trying to create a society of free people based on self-responsibility, which is Ron Paul's own philosophy.

Trudeau is a liberal progressive, and I didn't see him accusing Barack Obama of creating a Utopian society under the guise of hope and change. I mean you will never hear a Ron Paul supporter excited about the possibility of the government's Utopian free flow of gasoline and rent money exampled in the following Peggy Joseph clip.

George Carlin on Obama, Newt Gingrich, and Mitt Romney

On paper, there is little difference between Obama, Newt Gingrich, and Mitt Romney. The main difference I see is Obama has a D behind his name and Newtster and Mitt for Brains have R behind their names. When you look at their record you will see how they all supported Obamacare's mandate, gun control, global warming and cap and trade, and a number of other issues. For Mitt for Brains, prior to 2005 when his presidential aspirations began as an unpopular governor of Massachusetts, he probably would have taken on Obama as to who was a great friend to a woman's abortion rights. All three helped grow huge deficits that led or will lead to more taxes. Truth be told, Newt and Mitt are responsible for more taxes than Obama himself.

For some reason, the average republican voter ignores these facts this year because getting Obama out is job number one even if they decide to replace Obama with someone who looks on paper to be Obama.

We know Mitt Romney ran the pilot program for Obamacare in Massachusetts.

In fact, we have already seen the start of this process in Massachusetts, where Mitt Romney’s health care reforms were nearly identical to President Obama’s. Romney’s reforms increased the demand for health care but did nothing to expand the supply of physicians. In fact, by cracking down on insurance premiums, Massachusetts pushed insurers to reduce their payments to providers, making it less worthwhile for doctors to expand their practices. As a result, the average wait to get an appointment with a doctor grew from 33 days to over 55 days.

Newt Gingrich has been busy pushing and preparing to profit from Obamacare too. The above video is from May 2009, as Newt was endorsing Obamacare.

"We believe…that everyone must have health-insurance," Gingrich says. "Or if you are an absolute libertarian, we would allow you to post a bond, but we would not allow people to be free-riders, failing to insure themselves and then show up at the emergency room with no means of payment."

Even more damning is Gingrich's praise for Obama's healthcare reform legislation, which he says is a "model we will be advocating."

Of course, for those who don't know, Newt sits on the board of GE's Healthymagination with Tom Daschle. Healthymagination is poised to make billions from Obamacare, and Newt will profit too for his efforts with Daschle--who happened to write the book on socialist healthcare in the United States.

One of the parts of Obamacare Newt has been passionately pushing is the idea of federal control of your health records. Healthymagination is coming up with the technology to make that a reality, and since Newt has already sold his country out for a buck, Obamacare is obviously the next great profit center for Gingrich.

According to the Food and Drug Administration, that is precisely where you should find them. Because Diamond Foods made truthful claims about the health benefits of consuming walnuts that the FDA didn’t approve, it sent the company a letter declaring, “Your walnut products are drugs” — and “new drugs” at that — and, therefore, “they may not legally be marketed … in the United States without an approved new drug application.” The agency even threatened Diamond with “seizure” if it failed to comply.

The FDA’s letter continues: “We have determined that your walnut products are promoted for conditions that cause them to be drugs because these products are intended for use in the prevention, mitigation, and treatment of disease.” Furthermore, the products are also “misbranded” because they “are offered for conditions that are not amenable to self-diagnosis and treatment by individuals who are not medical practitioners; therefore, adequate directions for use cannot be written so that a layperson can use these drugs safely for their intended purposes.” Who knew you had to have directions to eat walnuts?

The environmental wackos out there love to attack conservatives and Republicans as being environmentally unfriendly. Unfortunately, this has led some Republicans to do some pretty stupid things like Richard Nixon signing off on the Environmental Protection ~~Tyranists~~ Agency.

Now a movie is coming out from Hollywood that shares with the world how Ronald Reagan helped save some whales trapped under the ice near the Soviet Union.

Yes, Hollywood gives credit to Reagan for making the call to the Soviets asking them to save the whales.

On October 7, 1988, an Eskimo hunter found three California Gray whales imprisoned in the Arctic ice. In the past as was nature's way, trapped whales always died.

But this time incredible things began to happen:

More than 150 journalists from four continents representing at least 26 TV networks converged on the tiny Eskimo outpost of Barrow, Alaska, where on a chilly day the wind- whipped temperature can drop to 150 degrees below zero. Total cost of the media coverage and rescue - more than $5,795,000.

Millions of people watched while the President of the United States and the General Secretary of the Soviet Union joined in the rescue of the three imprisoned whales.

All because the struggle of the three trapped whales could be shown on global television, a democratic government a half a world away nearly collapsed.

The media paid up to $200 to Eskimo entrepreneurs for a one-way 5-mile dog sled ride to the whale site, and if they didn't have enough cash for the return trip, they would have to wait until they were saved by rescue helicopters.

The most remarkable bond produced by the rescue connected a decorated combat Colonel in the Alaska National Guard and a lovely White House aide 7000 miles away. The two met, over the phone, fell in love and married - all because of three hapless whales.

Until recently the Russians operated the largest commercial whaling industry in the world. Then, as the result of just one phone call the Soviet Union sent two huge icebreakers to free the whales. Overnight the Soviets became instant environmentalists. Today, the Russians remain the world's largest killers of Gray whales.

Yet, through the miracle of modern technology, the rescue of three whales caught in the Arctic ice captured the imaginations of hundreds of millions of people who for a brief moment in time felt that the world had become a better place for ourselves and the creatures who share it with us.

It was Ronald Reagan who made that call, and the rest is history as the whales were saved. After the phone call, the Soviets finally send the icebreakers to fee the whales.

Republican Congress Promises Budget With More Big Government: Must Fix Medicare

The last time the Republicans tried to fix Medicare, they created another $16 trillion in unfunded liabilities. Medicare Part D was born.

Now, the Republicans prepare to take government spending off the table for the 2012 election as they promise a budget full of more big government spending, specifically Paul Ryan's call to fix Medicare. Noting the past, the Republican's have not done well fixing Medicare in the past. Fixing an entitlement with more big government spending will remove this issue from debate in 2012, just like Republicans are doing with Obamacare and a number of other issues.

Republicans are going to work off the budget the House GOP passed last year to come up with its proposals for the next fiscal year budget, House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan said Sunday, adding that the GOP is "not backing off of any of our ideas, any of our solutions."

Ryan, R-Wis., speaking on "Fox News Sunday," said the budget isn't written yet, and won't be ready until March, when bean counters have the "base line," or current budget figures used as the template for budgeting.

"I and my members of the Budget Committee will write this budget in March and then we're going to bring it to the floor. We think we owe the country actual solutions based upon our founding principles to get this country on the right track," Ryan said.

The Medicare reform put forth by Republicans proposes a voucher system called "premium support" that would give seniors money to go buy private health insurance. Democrats railed against it last year, saying the average cost would mean seniors are paying $6,000 more per year for health care.

Ryan said the plan doesn't affect anyone currently 55 or older, but Americans are going to have to come to grips with the fact that Medicare will be broke in a decade.

"The Congressional Budget Office also says Medicare is going bankrupt in 2021. The trustees at Medicare say that there's $37 trillion unfunded liability. If you take a look at our reforms, which don't change any Medicare benefits for a person 55 or above, and says for people 54 and below, when they'll retire, they'll have a list of guaranteed coverage options over by Medicare just like we do it in Congress and federal employees have, and we're not going to subsidize the wealthy as much as everybody else. And we're going to subsidize the poor even more. That saves Medicare. That fixes Medicare," he said.

Mr. Ryan, government healthcare like Medicare isn't a founding principle, you dolt! Just another bandage to cover the bleeding.

Editorial: Newt Gingrich Betrayed Ronald Reagan

Because the Gipper is not here to say, “There you go again!” to Mr. Gingrich, and because the choice of a new president is so critical to the nation today, it falls on us who served with Reagan and are still around to tell America the truth about Mr. Gingrich and his repeated attempts to thwart Reagan’s cornerstone achievement: the defeat of global tyranny in the form of the Soviet Union and the final rejection of communism as a failed experiment.

Although Mr. Gingrich was an unknown congressman after being elected in 1978, he was one of the very few Republicans who voted for the creation of the Department of Education under Jimmy Carter, a position Reagan abhorred and a central campaign whipping boy in the 1980 campaign. That telltale vote should have prepared us for Mr. Gingrich’s regular ridicules of the president, but we were too occupied with reversing Mr. Carter’s disastrous economic policies at the time to pay attention to a gadfly at the fringes. Nowadays, Reagan is universally appreciated as a hero of vision and determination, but at that time, the battles we fought were challenging, and popular opinion (at least as defined by Washington) often was against us.

The cocktail-party set thought capitalism was the past and socialism the future; they thought Reagan was provoking the Soviet Union when he should have been negotiating with them. The elect in Washington were against every tactic Reagan used to bring down the “evil empire,” and they were many: missiles in Europe aimed at the Soviet Union; research and propaganda for “Star Wars” defense; robust intelligence efforts in Central America, Central Europe and the Soviet Union; communication wars fought by new efforts at the U.S. Agency for International Development, Voice of America and Radio Marti; giant increases in the withered defense and intelligence budgets.

Colleagues such as William J. Casey, Jeane J. Kirkpatrick and Caspar Weinberger were heroes on the front lines of this effort, and they would have lambasted Mr. Gingrich at his first self-serving attempt to attach himself to Reagan’s name. But they are no longer with us. They were our friends, and those of us who served with them cannot stand by and watch Mr. Gingrich claim that he was in any way a part of this noble effort that saved freedom on the face of this earth.

Mr. Gingrich called the Reagan administration’s efforts against the Soviet Union a failure. He went so far as to say that the president had “weak policies which are inadequate and will ultimately fail.” At other times he said the administration had “no strategies to defeat the empire … the burden of this failure must be placed first on President Reagan.” He called Reagan’s efforts to defeat communism in the Third World “pathetically incompetent.” Unbelievably, for the record, he said, “Measured against the scale and momentum of the Soviet empire’s challenge, the Reagan administration has failed, is failing, and without a dramatic change in strategy will continue to fail. … President Reagan is clearly failing.”

These were irresponsible statements designed to capture media attention and favor from a press corps that loved to hate Reagan and relished finding a GOP critic. But they were much more dangerous. These were statements delivered for the record on the floor of the U.S. Congress. They were used by liberals bent on defeating the very tactics necessary to defeat the Soviet Union. It was a near-treasonous case of self-serving rhetoric by Mr. Gingrich.

When Reagan finally brought Mikhail Gorbachev to the table to shape the surrender, I was the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva, where the first meeting would take place. Here was Mr. Gingrich’s characterization of those meetings: “the most dangerous summit for the West since Adolf Hitler met with [British Prime Minister Neville] Chamberlain at Munich in 1938.”

Historians often try to rewrite history. Presidents make history. Ronald Reagan saved our nation from economic and military decline and in the process, saved the world from the worst totalitarian regime that has ever existed. To do it, he had to ignore Newt Gingrich. Thank God he did.

Cain may have asked, where did you get the cajones to ask your wife for an open marriage? This weekend infidelity road had Newt and Cain crossing paths.

Herman Cain unexpectedly showed up at a GOP dinner in West Palm Beach on Saturday night to give his endorsement to Republican presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich. The polls here though, are showing Gingrich needs a boost in the Florida Primary on Tuesday.

"I hereby officially and enthusiastically endorse Newt Gingrich for President of the United States," Cain said to cheers, with a smiling Gingrich at his side.

You figure Bill Clinton himself would want in on the action too at some time, although an endorsement would never come from the legend himself.

So Newt Gingrich is once again showing he is no conservative. Just a couple weeks from attacking Mitt Romney on Bain Capital for making a profit, Newt is now praising the liberal side of Mitt for Brains--specifically Romneycare with its mandate that inspired Obamacare. Now just in case you don't know the history, Romneycare which became Obamacare was written by the Republicans with the Heritage Foundation in 1994 as an alternative to Hillarycare.

This weekend Newt spoke in favor of Mitt for Brains.

"Governor Romney’s made very clear that he favors absolute repeal of Obamacare," said Gingrich. "I also think in all fairness to Governor Romney that he vetoed many provisions that the liberal Democrats in the Massachusetts state legislature added to the bill and they overrode his veto."

Yet, last week, when Romney campaign consultant Norm Coleman was asked which part of Obamacare Mitt Romney would work to repeal, the federal mandate was not part of his answer.

HOST: What elements [of ObamaCare] can realistically be repealed”

COLEMAN: Two that come to mind: The Independent Payment Advisement Board…Resistance to the 2.3% medical device tax.

So just how dedicated are Mitt Romney and the Republicans to repealing Obamacare? Well, remember they wrote the bill and there is always power in Washington power grabs that both parties crave.

Here's what is in store for the United States if Romney isn't committed to repealing Obamacare, which former Senator Coleman leads me to believe. The New York Post writes:

John Boehner and the Republicans First Failed Year in Control of the House of Representin'

Congressman Billy Long came home to his district promising voters "we got 'er done" on the $100 billion in spending cuts. That was a lie that came to symbolize the failure of John Boehner's leadership in the House during the first year. Republicans couldn't even come up with $100 billion in spending cuts as Congressman Long and other Republicans couldn't cut wasteful spending like sponsorship for NASCAR teams. In the end, the American people got a few spending cuts--maybe a third of what they promised. There is much debate about the final numbers, but it appears maybe $30 billion got cut. It never got past the house and the deficit keeps rising under Boehner's control.

The first year started with the reading of the Constitution and the promise each bill delivered to the House floor would be required to give reference to which enumerated power gives Congress the power to pass the bill. This was another failed policy of Boehner's. The Republicans that did do it played the same game as Democrats. They didn't refer to the Federalist papers making their own definition of things like the General Welfare clause. Then when bills came up for vote that demanded more power for the federal government such as the Patriot Act or the National Defense Authorization Act with its power to detain Americans without due process, the Constitution was never considered.

As Obama grabbed for more power using executive orders to build his dictatorship, Boehner and the GOP was notably absent--not fight in their bellies--only complaints. The problem here is these same Republicans supported very same actions of George W. Bush when Democrats controlled Congress. The American people are the losers as representation fails them and more power is given to Washington. This isn't what the Tea Party aligned with many members of Congress over when the Tea Party formed this mandate for Boehner.

Spending hasn't gone down. The Boehner led Congress did one of its most horrible acts in passing the debt ceiling. They didn't just pass a debt ceiling, they made sure they would never have to vote on passing another debt ceiling ever again. Debt ceilings are now automatic. They can only be stopped if Congress introduces a bill to stop them, and then, even if that gets passed, they risk an assured veto from the president.

Oh sure, the passed a resolution in the House to repeal Obamacare, but it was only symbolic. Many of these GOP legislators are supporting the big government GOP candidates whose fingerprints are all over the boondoggle known as Obamacare. Mitt Romney signed into law ran Obamacare in Massachusetts as governor. Newt Gingrich worked with the Heritage Foundation to draft pretty much what we know as Obamacare now. Rick Santorum carried the weight on his shoulders of Medicare Part D--an expansion that created another $16 trillion in unfunded liabilities. And you still believe the GOP is the party of small government?

The first year of Republican control under John Boehner has been disgraceful. Broken promises, no leadership, and more spending and big government. Where is the Tea Party calling the Republicans out? There are only a few with the courage to do so.

Here we are in another presidential election trying to figure which man GOP or Democrat will best take care of us--babysit us. This isn't how it was supposed to be. This much power was never to be assumed by one man according to the founding fathers.

Remember this Smurfette from 2008 named Peggy Joseph hoping to find her Papa Smurf to help her get through life?

Look around, everywhere in American society from TV focuses on one person to lead the rest. That's what we have turned our president into. In all reality, he has become an elected king handing out executive orders like a tyrant when he doesn't get his way. Oh the people, they look up to him like a king. He is the only man in the country that is supposed to have answers about everything that effects this country. The truth is, it just wasn't supposed to be this way.

George Washington served honorably as president noting it was a boring job. There just isn't much responsibility the Constitution gives the president. Yet, look how much power the presidency has gained with through #44. The president lays out budgets now and begs Congress to approve them, but the Constitution says that's the job of Congress. The President no longer looks to Congress to declare wars before he drops bombs on foreign lands. When Congress is on recess, the president takes on himself to create new positions without Congressional approval.

The presidency has centralized power it was never meant to have. Then you look at the people, all eager to elect a new president every four to eight years all eager to hear things like Newt Gingrich unconstitutionally plan to create a colony on the moon. Article Two doesn't give the president this power or any powers similar to it. A president is responsible for executing the laws of the land, being the commander and chief of the military, and keeping Congress in check from growing to powerful. The details of the job are much more limited than what we expect from the president today.

I have to say Americans have been brainwashed in society in believing there can only be one leader and the rest must follow. Look around, that's how we are taught. We see it in TV shows--and the best example of that was Mr. Jeffrie's in Papa Smurf.

Americans have forgotten that states really have the power through the 10th Amendment. The federal government has limited power. The power is supposed to be spread out between the three branches of government and the 50 individual states.

Here we are in another election, and this time we have Republican forms of Peggy Joseph begging Newt and Mitt to take care of them in one way or another, just like the NASA crowd in Florida. There is no difference. Just like Peggy Joseph, the Florida NASA crowd begs Newt to tell them how government is going to put fuel in their cars and help pay for their mortgage by rolling out more federal programs. NASA for these Floridians is nothing more than another federal program that throws big federal dollars into the Sunshine State for an unconstitutional act of space travel--you won't find that authority in the Constitution. While these Floridians may not be the lazy slob that Joseph is, they still have their hands out looking for federal dollars. Few states really benefit from NASA in the ways Florida, Alabama, Texas, and California. What Newt says is he is willing to redistribute wealth from the other 46 to keep these people's fuel tanks full and their mortgages paid even though NASA has proven to be another over hyped, inefficient, expensive government program that would operate better in the private sector. Of course the federal government will never allow a truly free market in space travel. It will always be over regulated.

So like Democrats cheered four years ago as Obama promised more federal central planning, Republicans do the same thing this year. The American people have been brainwashed into believing central planning is the American way, and we must elect the right manager to ensure proper central planning.

The GOP race is about to get interesting according to the Hill. Before we get too far in their prediction, we know Rick Santorum is probably done. He's tired and out of money and is taking this weekend to figure out his next direction. Considering his money didn't stretch far after winning Iowa, it's not hard to see Santorum is finished. As well, we know he and Gingrich won't be on the ballot in November. This sets up the race between the only Constitutional conservative in the race --Ron Paul-- and Mitt for Brains Romney, the liberal.

The Hill writes:

In a dramatic head-to-head contest that will win huge attention throughout the political world, I now believe that Ron Paul will defeat Mitt Romney in the Virginia primary. The implications could be enormous. This result would dramatize the fact that a majority of Republican primary voters favor a candidate more conservative than Mitt Romney. This prospect could also inspire the mother of all money bombs for the Ron Paul campaign.

If I were the campaign manager for the Gingrich and Santorum campaigns, I would be suggesting that all conservatives vote for Ron Paul in Virginia. Ditto the conservative movement leaders from all conservative points of view and throughout the conservative media.

So far, the pundit debate has largely missed the point that Mitt Romney has hovered between 26 percent and 38 percent in various state votes and polls. It is ridiculous for anyone to suggest "this race is over" or "this race will soon be over" (as many pundits wrongly have) because, obviously, the nominee will need 50 percent-plus-one of all delegates. I emphasize delegates.

What is certainly unique about Virginia, so far, is the prospect of a straight Ron Paul versus Mitt Romney contest, with no other candidates. If this does not change, the Virginia vote will be a pure play of Romney versus Paul, and also a contest purely of Romney versus the conservative movement, which I would expect to unify behind Paul for the Virginia vote.

Remember how Congressional Candidate Billy Long complained how the liberals were bankrupting this country? For the life of me I can't figure out how Billy Long is saving us from bankruptcy. Every time I turn around I see his name associated with wasteful government spending from appropriating funds to sponsor NASCAR teams to having one of the highest paid Congressional staffs of all freshmen Congressmen. This next story really gets me.

Billy Long loves to tweet how much money the Democrats are costing us in Washington. I don't disagree, but the problem is Billy Long thinks out of his ass and doesn't do much saving himself. His Congressional newsletter gives another fine example.

The 7th District is made up of ten unique counties that contain many natural wonders and historical sites that contribute to rich and interesting communities and cultures. To celebrate the beauty and diversity of the Ozarks, I am holding a contest on my website to choose Ozark landmarks from each county that will be professionally photographed and displayed in my Washington, D.C. office.

Oh the embellishment of the blah 7th District! Other than lake country, there's not much to see from Marshfield to Joplin. Apparently Billy Long believes there is--so much he appears to be hiring a professional photographer at tax payer expense to photograph places in all ten counties. Professional photography services aren't cheap. This little project may sound harmless but it could cost taxpayers thousands of dollars.

Why not ask high school students to take pictures of their favorite Southwest Missouri landmarks and send pictures to Long's office for consideration? That would save tax money and these high school kids would have the a memory of their picture hanging in a Congressional office. Or how about asking amateur photographers across the Ozarks to join in? Once again minimal investment from the taxpayer.

We are nearing $16 trillion, and if we are going to make a dent in it, expenditures big and small must be eliminated. Congressman Long doesn't seem to understand this, but you can be sure he will tell a lot of people he is still fed up this year all the way to November.

So what did they do? They bought memorial bracelets like the one's Lance Armstrong made popular with his Livestrong campaign to defeat cancer. The TSA ordered 70,000 bracelets to commemorate 9/11. Guess where they were made?

China. Your tax dollars went to China for these bracelets. Rather than funding American jobs, our government gave the Chinese more of our tax dollars.

The wristbands were among as much as $84 billion in U.S. contracts (USBOTOTA) awarded for foreign goods and services in the fiscal year that ended Sept. 30, mostly through exemptions from legislation designed to restrict such deals. Foreign purchases by federal agencies also included rocket launchers and machine guns from Bulgaria, as well as generic cholesterol medication for U.S. veterans that came from plants in India.

What a way to honor a few Americans by an organization that humiliates many Americans!

Ron Paul Differs With Ronald Reagan in the Best of Ways During Florida Debate: Repeal the 16th Amendment!

Yesterday, we looked at the friction between Ronald Reagan and Newt Gingrich. Reagan being the great conservative revolution leader and Newt riding on his coattails to feed his need for power. Reagan didn't care much for Newt as evident in the Reagan diaries, and Newt didn't embrace Reagan often criticizing Reagan's policies and standing with the left.

So Ron Paul was asked yesterday during the Florida debate if he would continue Reagan's tax policies and tax levels. Paul said absolutely not. Paul's answer was the right answer, while Newt's answer continues the Federal Reserve's enslavement of all Americans through the federal income tax.

Tax reform was also an issue given significant attention.

Gingrich has proposed a 15 percent flat tax, which he says will “shrink revenues to meet the size of government.” Santorum dismissed the flat-rate idea, instead proposing to lower the top taxable rate from 35 to 28 percent.

“Ronald Reagan had a 28 percent top rate. If it was good enough for Ronald Reagan, it’s good enough for me,” he said.

Paul took a position at odds with Reagan, one of the Republican Party’s untouchables.

“He taxed too much. My goal is to get rid of the 16th Amendment,” said Paul, of the amendment that allows the government to levy an income tax. “The only way you can do that is not run a welfare system and a warfare system.”

Ed Martin has switched races again this crazy campaign season. Martin can't get his footing for any race, but for some reason he hasn't figured out that maybe he just isn't electable.

Here's a man who quickly entered the US Senate race and dropped out when he was doing worse than Sarah Steelman--and we know from fundraising reports there is a lack of enthusiasm for her campaign. Then he entered the House race for Todd Aiken's seat. Remember he ran against Russ Carnahan two years ago and lost despite Carnahan being one of the ultimate Congressional dolts, and so he jumped districts heading to Aikenland. That didn't last long because there was no enthusiasm for Martin in that race either.

So rather than accept that people see through his false conservative/Tea Party ego, Martin is going to enter another race. Now there was rumors Martin may enter the governor's race, but it's official now, Martin enters his third race this season by announcing his bid for Attorney General.

What is it about a real job that scares these politicians? Why do they feel after losing election after election, primary after primary, that they are the way? Martin definitely falls into this pattern.

So the debate focused yesterday not on the seriousness of the problems facing this country, but on Newt's silly plan to spend at least a trillion more turning the moon into Newt's Death Star--death star because plans like this will kill the United States economically with more useless debt. There is a basic rule in every American home. If you are deep in debt, frivolous spending does't get you any further to getting out of debt. Money must be redirected at the debt and comforts and bling must be put on the back burner until the debt is paid off. Don't ask me. Ask Dave Ramsey.

Apparently Congressman Billy Long doesn't get it. Remember he ran on the premise "the liberals are bankrupting this country." While I can't argue with that, the Republicans are bankrupting it too. Need proof? Look at the unfunded liabilities Medicare Part D created--$16 trillion--and we can thank George W. Bush and the Republicans for that.

So what has "fed up" Billy done since getting to Washington? Well, he has shown he doesn't understand you have to cut all frivolous spending if you are going to get out of debt. In his first month in Washington, he voted to continue federal funding of NASCAR teams. This cost taxpayers nearly $30 million last year as it's not cheap to put a federal sticker on Dale Earnhardt Jr's car.

While Rand Paul was giving back a good portion of his office's budget back to the Treasury after his first year, Long maintained one of the most costly offices among freshmen in Congress. Now we are seeing Long spending more of your money frivolously. All I can say is Congressman Long, when the deficit goes down to a healthy level that doesn't threaten enslaving all Americans with unmanageable taxes then maybe you can justify sending a professional photographer around each county in Southwest Missouri to take pictures of landmarks that have probably been photographed thousands of times. What am I talking about?

Ozark High School Band's Brian Perkins Suspension Brings Out the Totalitarian Side of the School Board

Ozark High School Band teacher Brian Perkins was silently suspended from duties last month. It's unclear why Perkins was suspended but one thing is certain, the Ozark School Board continues to work in total secrecy in a totalitarian sort of way.

We have seen this in the past as the Dr. Gordon Pace, Chuck Fugate, and the school board has limited debate on the International Baccalaureate, a globalist initiative ran by the United Nations that doesn't have Ozark and American values in its best interest. When one parent asked about the IB's conflict with American values, Fugate told the parent "I don't care." With the suspension of Perkins once again the school board works under the radar without answering many questions from parents.

The Christian County Headliner tried to get answers about Perkins departure. They were snubbed in the most arrogant and tyrannical sort of ways. The Headliner has an interesting editorial today which they note the school board demanded the paper only report the good news about the school district and stop asking so many questions about things that could possibly embarrass the district:

The editorial staff at the Headliner News studied hard over the last month on how to present the story about Ozark High School Band Director Brian Perkins’ absence or suspension. Because few were comfortable going on record with comments, we could not attribute some of the information we obtained. And we couldn’t report on many of the conversations. But we must tell you that our sources are credible and well-placed; but they were afraid to talk.

When parents contacted the Headliner News because they couldn’t get satisfactory answers from the school district, it was our responsibility to follow up—that’s what we do. But we also have to tell you it wasn’t easy. We were faced with two choices: Inform the public on what we know and risk casting aspersions on an innocent individual needlessly or not informing the public and risk shirking our duty and enabling a culture of denial and deceit. Neither is particularly appealing.

We were also faced with silence from the district. Superintendent Dr. Gordon Pace, who has the authority, according to the district’s employee handbook, to suspend a teacher, would not confirm or deny that action. There is no other way to find out what occurred. We are not privy to personnel records.

The only way we, or anyone knows when, why, where or how a teacher is disciplined is if the district releases the information. But don’t be fooled, the rumor mill does not discriminate when filling in the blanks.

So we would caution the public from jumping to any conclusions other than the obvious one—a well-liked teacher’s been absent from the classroom for about two months with no real explanation. But we felt the subject matter was significant enough to let you know that there is or was an investigation going on and our sources indicated that this was not an isolated, one-time incident.

News organizations are often faced with balancing what the people should know with privacy rights of individuals. We weighed the evidence and made the judgment that at least the patrons of Ozark School District needed to know what we know.

When reporter Emily Letterman raised questions about the issue at December’s school board meeting , it was suggested that the Headliner News report good news. We do that regularly every week.

The Headliner News reports the news, whether it is good or bad, pretty or ugly. That’s our job.

So we now have elected officials and public servants in Ozark trying to control the news cycle. Are they teaching the First Amendment at Ozark these days or has been swallowed up the global globbityglook of the UN's International Baccalaureate? We know the goal of the IB and the UN is to establish the UN's human rights doctrine as world law that would overrule our Constitution. This is thuggery similar to what I saw when I lived in Chicago. Public servants telling a newspaper what to and what not to print!

Now here's some background about what I know. Just a few weeks before the suspension, Perkins was travelling every weekend with students at band competitions, something where parental supervision is more than apparent. Ozark Band parents are dedicated followers of the band during the competition season. There was an overnight trip to St. Louis the last weekend in October.

The suspension corresponds with this schedule leaving many to believe there may have been some inappropriate behavior. Let's not forget these events require parents everywhere to pull them off, so the likelihood of that seems unreasonable. If Perkins is being charged with inappropriate behavior with a student, which I don't believe is the case knowing all the good things I have heard about Mr. Perkins, Dr. Pace, Chuck Fugate, and the rest of the school board has a responsibility to parents to inform them what may have been taking place with their children.

Once again, we see it is Dr. Pace's strategy along with the school board to keep parents in the dark, just like they have with the anti-American agenda of the International Baccalaureate they push upon Ozark kids.

Now Republicans Are Backing Down from Repealing Obamacare: Mitt Romney is the Center of the Attention

I told you the Republicans wouldn't repeal Obamacare. There is too much power in it, and like Medicare, the Republicans will soon find ways to expand it on their terms when they are in power. Now we are seeing evidence of the Republicans backing down on their promises to repeal.

Former Republican Senator, the one so bad he lost to Al Franken, now serves as an adviser for Mitt for Brains. In an interview, Coleman was asked which provisions of Obamacare would be repealed. Rather than answer all of them, he only named two.

HOST: What elements [of ObamaCare] can realistically be repealed”

COLEMAN: Two that come to mind: The Independent Payment Advisement Board…Resistance to the 2.3% medical device tax.

That's it? Coleman didn't even mention the unconstitutional federal mandate. Of course, his boss Mitt Romney believes there is nothing wrong with the mandate despite the Constitution giving the government no authority to force Americans to engage in commerce.

Of course, there is little difference in what Romney did and what Obama did. The results are going to be the same.

Romney’s reforms increased the demand for health care but did nothing to expand the supply of physicians. In fact, by cracking down on insurance premiums, Massachusetts pushed insurers to reduce their payments to providers, making it less worthwhile for doctors to expand their practices. As a result, the average wait to get an appointment with a doctor grew from 33 days to over 55 days.

A Vision of Newt Gingrich's Moon Colony: The Federal Government in Action

The big news the last 24 hours has been Newt's Florida speech pandering the NASA crowd. Were nearly $16 trillion in debt with over $100 trillion more in unfunded liabilities, and Newt wants to establish the moon as a colony and eventually make it the 51 state in the union.

So I have been pondering what Newt's colony might look like, and I figured out the way the federal government is these days, 13,000 may not be that hard to come by.

With all the government bureaucracies, there will be much opportunity to expand government to create the 51st state--a state consisting mainly of federal employees. You obviously start with NASA because the astronauts will be the original settlers. Then from there it really gets quite wacky as things often do with the federal government.

Obviously, the EPA would get involved, because you have to have them protecting life on the lifeless surface of the moon. Can you imagine the regulations?

The Interior Department would have to stake their claims on craters as National Parks. No development where an asteroid violently bombarded the moon because that will soon become part of the great American heritage under Newt's plan.

Then of course, the IRS would have to set up shop. You know, can't have colonists hiding their assets in the Caymen Craters or other off-galactic accounts.

You can't leave the TSA and Department of Homeland Security out of the equation. Someone has to feel up grandma after she leaves for earth after a week of spending with over radiated grandchildren living beyond the Van Allen radiation belts. I wonder if they would expose grandma to more radiation considering the amount she took in just getting to the moon?

You get the picture? The moon soon would become polluted with federal filth and 13,000 people would be reached in little time. Newt's goal is eight years, an arrogant prediction that we would actually elect this bozo. This is the vision I see when Newt talks about Moon statehood.

All of this is just so absurd!

Federal Growth Makes Washington DC the Fastest Growing Area in the the Country

We already know around Washington DC sits many of the richest counties in the United States. Now, Washington is becoming one of the fastest growing areas in the country.

The numbers help tell that story: D.C. ranked 35th in rate of population growth from 2000 to 2010, according to the Census Bureau. It also experienced faster growth than any state from April 1, 2010, to July 1, 2011, netting a 2.7 percent population increase.

What took place in that time period? Obama expanded government through stimulus and other big government programs increasing the need for more federal employees, lobbyists, government sucking junkies (corporate welfare office established) looking for handouts, lawyers looking for their share, and the rest of the rift raft that goes along with big government.

Newt Gingrich Doesn't Speak Favorably of Ronald Reagan: Would Berlin Wall Stand if Newt Had Been President?

We know from the Reagan Diaries, Ronald Reagan didn't think much of Newt Gingrich. In 1988, Newt Gingrich seemed quite excited about the Reagan Revolution coming to an end.

Now of course, we know what change brought. Remember the term "no new taxes." George H.W. Bush did raise taxes and he moved the Republican part and the country to the left, and he lost in 1992. Americans weren't craving new. They liked the policies of Ronald Reagan, which was evident in 1984 when Reagan was by a landslide only losing one state.

Now National Review Online also points out to Newt's insults to Reagan in an interesting article that once again points out Newt is no Reagan conservative.

In the increasingly rough Republican campaign, no candidate has wrapped himself in the mantle of Ronald Reagan more often than Newt Gingrich. “I worked with President Reagan to change things in Washington,” “we helped defeat the Soviet empire,” and “I helped lead the effort to defeat Communism in the Congress” are typical claims by the former speaker of the House.

The claims are misleading at best. As a new member of Congress in the Reagan years — and I was an assistant secretary of state — Mr. Gingrich voted with the president regularly, but equally often spewed insulting rhetoric at Reagan, his top aides, and his policies to defeat Communism. Gingrich was voluble and certain in predicting that Reagan’s policies would fail, and in all of this he was dead wrong.

The fights over Reagan’s efforts to stop Soviet expansionism in the Third World were exceptionally bitter. The battlegrounds ranged from Angola and Grenada to Afghanistan and Central America. Reagan’s top team — William Casey at CIA, Cap Weinberger at DOD, and George Shultz at State — understood as he did that if Soviet expansionism could be dealt some tough blows, not only the Soviet empire but the USSR itself would face a political, technological, and financial challenge it could not meet. Few officials besides Ronald Reagan predicted the collapse of the Soviet Union entirely, but every one of us in positions of authority understood the importance of this struggle.
But the most bitter battleground was often in Congress. Here at home, we faced vicious criticism from leading Democrats — Ted Kennedy, Christopher Dodd, Jim Wright, Tip O’Neill, and many more — who used every trick in the book to stop Reagan by denying authorities and funds to these efforts. On whom did we rely up on Capitol Hill? There were many stalwarts: Henry Hyde, elected in 1974; Dick Cheney, elected in 1978, the same year as Gingrich; Dan Burton and Connie Mack, elected in 1982; and Tom DeLay, elected in 1984, were among the leaders.

But not Newt Gingrich. He voted with the caucus, but his words should be remembered, for at the height of the bitter struggle with the Democratic leadership Gingrich chose to attack . . . Reagan.

The best examples come from a famous floor statement Gingrich made on March 21, 1986. This was right in the middle of the fight over funding for the Nicaraguan contras; the money had been cut off by Congress in 1985, though Reagan got $100 million for this cause in 1986. Here is Gingrich: “Measured against the scale and momentum of the Soviet empire’s challenge, the Reagan administration has failed, is failing, and without a dramatic change in strategy will continue to fail. . . . President Reagan is clearly failing.” Why? This was due partly to “his administration’s weak policies, which are inadequate and will ultimately fail”; partly to CIA, State, and Defense, which “have no strategies to defeat the empire.” But of course “the burden of this failure frankly must be placed first on President Reagan.” Our efforts against the Communists in the Third World were “pathetically incompetent,” so those anti-Communist members of Congress who questioned the $100 million Reagan sought for the Nicaraguan “contra” rebels “are fundamentally right.” Such was Gingrich’s faith in President Reagan that in 1985, he called Reagan’s meeting with Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev “the most dangerous summit for the West since Adolf Hitler met with Neville Chamberlain in 1938 in Munich.”

Of course, we know Reagan was right, and in 1989 after Ronald Reagan left office we witnessed the miracle of freedom coming to Eastern Europe as the wall fell down. Had Newt Gingrich lead this country, it may still be up today.

In the grand scheme of things, Ron Paul is a credible candidate nearly winning Iowa and putting on a good performance in New Hampshire. In two out of the three primaries he has proven he has attracted large amounts of voters and deserves to be in this race. Yet, the very presence of Ron Paul irritates the GOP enough that they are willing to risk alienating a large percentage of voters in the primary before the general election in November. Many of these voters are tired of the insults and have sworn they will not vote Republican even against Obama.

Well the insults keep coming despite that. Now there is a petition on Facebook demanding Ron Paul bow out of the presidential race.

An online petition sponsored by the Facebook group "I refuse to support Ron Paul" calls on the Texas Congressman to end his bid for the GOP Presidential nomination and exit the party.

The petition takes aim not only at the Texas Republican, but also his more militant, cult-like followers.

"We have had enough of the stupid demands of the those who support Ron Paul for President. The time has come for true Conservatives to Rise Up and Take a Stand!" the petition reads in part.

Well tell me who are "true Conservatives going to take a stand for?"

Mitt Romney who grew government, raised taxes, supported abortion and gun control, and of course ran the pilot program for Obamacare?

Or how about Newt Gingrich, who supports the federal mandate to force people to buy healthcare, supports the federal government's control of your healthcare records, lobbied to get Congress to look the other way as big government Fannie Mae was creating a housing bubble ready to burst and destroy the economy, or sat on the couch pushing for cap and trade and global warming with Nancy Pelosi?

Or how about Rick Santorum who pushed for another $16 trillion in unfunded liabilities with the Medicare Part D expansion and well as other big government crimes.

I am considering a name change. The GOP has moved to far to the left and they have hijacked the name conservatism. Just the other day, I had to hear my own Congressman, Billy Long, who ran on a platform of being "fed up" say Mitt Romney is the only conservative in the race.

Conservative? Well if being a tax and spend liberal who grew government, supported abortion and gun control, and then launched the pilot program for Obamacare is conservative, then I am definitely no longer a conservative.

Of course that description above is not conservative, but Republicans are desperate to beat Obama and they continue to fail to vet their candidates while shutting out the conservative and libertarian base, something Ronald Reagan said was important to the party. In doing so, they are redefining the word conservative, and I would go as far as claiming killing off the Reagan conservative image of the party with their new definition.

So if Romney is what it means to be conservative, considering his past that is comparable to Ted Kennedy from meddling in state run healthcare programs to being a passionate abortion rights supporter, it will be impossible for me to identify with these new conservatives (liberals). A name change may be in order.

Obama's kick off campaign speech otherwise known as the State of the Union made some huge claims. One of those claims was Obama has been very tough on illegal immigration.

I believe as strongly as ever that we should take on illegal immigration. That’s why my Administration has put more boots on the border than ever before. That’s why there are fewer illegal crossings than when I took office.

Arizona's Governor Jan Brewer writes on her Facebook page how Obama scolded her over passages in her book on the very subject of Obama, illegal immigration, and Arizona trying to enforce their own border policy because the federal government under Obama is weak on immigration.

I greeted President Obama today in Arizona with the intention of talking to him about jobs and the economy.

However, after I greeted him, the President immediately turned the conversation to my book, Scorpions for Breakfast (www.scorpionsforbreakfast.com), criticized it and then walked away. He let me know that he didn't like the way I recounted our meeting in the Oval Office after I signed SB 1070 in 2010.

The bottom line is our border is not secure and I again invited him to visit the Arizona border.

I believe America wants a secure border before addressing "comprehensive immigration reform" and granting amnesty to illegal aliens. On this issue, we'll have to continue to disagree on what's best for America.

I'll keep fighting for Arizona and the rest of America who want a secure border.

Newt Gingrich Pushed for the American Police State Even Before 9/11

When I think of September 11, 2001, I think to how the federal government's rhetoric spoke if we let the terrorists change our way of life the terrorists win. Ten years later it's not hard to see how liberties were lost and freedoms killed as the federal government began instituting its police state around the country and Americans were soon labeled as possible terrorists in report after report.

As I was scanning YouTube videos tonight enjoying Star Wars clips, I typed in "Newt Gingrich Imperial March." I had been joking that Newt needs theme music now that he has announced he wants to use your tax dollars to stimulate an effort to colonize the moon. Let's call it Newt's Death Star.

Interestingly enough, I found this video where Newt is consulting on the Hart-Rudman Commission--advocating for the creation of the Department of Homeland Security to be run under FEMA before the attacks on 9/11. It's almost as if the Hart-Rudman group knew the attacks were coming. Newt's words are not only eery, they are a reminder that Newt Gingrich cares less about your Constitutional rights as he pushes possibly the greatest bureaucratic threat to our civil liberties ever to be established in the United States--the Department of Homeland Security.

The FEMA connection is most interesting. FEMA is sold as a helping hand during times of emergency. However, this insight once again provided by Newt is a reminder that FEMA also has a military purpose, or why else would you put the Department of Homeland Security underneath their jurisdiction? I find this video to be disturbing to say the least.

I found the following video interesting about how the war with Iran may start. To give you a little history, Israel attacked the USS Liberty in 1967 with Lyndon Johnson's approval to get the US involved in the Six Day War.

The pronouncements appeared to thrill the crowd of roughly 700 people. Florida's space coast is still suffering from a recent round of federal cuts to the space program.

But how would Gingrich pay for it?

The Republican presidential contender says he wants to offer prizes to help stimulate investment by the private sector.

In other words stimulus money where Newt picks the winners and the losers. Good grief! If the private sector wants to colonize the moon they should do so without creating more debt. This is just insane considering the amount of government spending that continues to add up every year.

After 9/11, the federal government's rhetoric included if you give money to drug dealers, you are funding terrorism. Yesterday, Rush Limbaugh called Ron Paul a terrorists on the show I once loved. Yet, looking at Dr. Paul's record I don't see anything that leads me to believe Rush's words are credible. However, Limbaugh's criminal record which includes an arrests for his pain killer addiction is in line with the government's rhetoric about funding terrorism. I hate to say it, but based on the evidence, Rush Limbaugh is the terrorist based on the government's rhetoric.

On his show yesterday, Rush said:

“Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul has been detained by the TSA at the Nashville airport,” Limbaugh announced on his show Monday. “Now if this had been Ron Paul, you couldn’t really blame the TSA.”

“You have to admit Ron Paul almost sounds like an Islamic terrorist sometimes,” he added with a chuckle.

Boy doesn't this comment tell you all you need to know. Ron Paul has spent his entire career promoting Constitutional conservatism and Limbaugh compares that to Islamic terrorism. That's idiotic and downright scary in my opinion, especially coming from Rush.

I am sure in a few months, Rush Limbaugh will be passionately pushing for one of the liberal Republicans, Mitt, Newt, or Santorum, despite they pretty much stand for everything Limbaugh says he is against whether it be big government, federal mandates, gun control, global warming, and one of them was quite passionate about supporting a woman's right to choose. None of these men honor Ronald Reagan, the inspiration for his show.

Ron Paul supports so much of what Rush claims he stands for--small constitutional government, the right to bear arms, elimination of many bureaucracies, life, anti-global warming, etc. In fact, based on all the years I have listened to Rush, which is over 20 now, Ron Paul is more in line with the conservatism I learned from Limbaugh, not the other three.

Here's Rush, pushing this idea that Ron Paul is a terrorist. It's just so sad. I used to admire this man. The TSA attacking the Fourth Amendment isn't conservative, and attacking a man who is willing to stand up against it and call it for what it is doesn't deserve to be called a terrorist.

After 20 years of listening to Rush, I just don't have the desire to listen anymore. He is obviously part of the Republican establishment that cares nothing about the values of Reagan as they move to the left, and he obviously doesn't care much for those who defend the Constitution--especially the part that our military is to be used for a common defense--something the Bush Doctrine violates with it's aggressive wars based on lies.

Obama Praises General Motors & Batteries for American Jobs During the State of the Union, but...

Last night State of the Union had Obama celebrating the hand picked winners of government. Socialism was on display, but there was a huge hypocrisy in all of this.

Obama bragged last night:

On the day I took office, our auto industry was on the verge of collapse. Some even said we should let it die. With a million jobs at stake, I refused to let that happen. In exchange for help, we demanded responsibility. We got workers and automakers to settle their differences. We got the industry to retool and restructure. Today, General Motors is back on top as the world’s number one automaker. Chrysler has grown faster in the U.S. than any major car company. Ford is investing billions in U.S. plants and factories. And together, the entire industry added nearly 160,000 jobs.

We bet on American workers. We bet on American ingenuity. And tonight, the American auto industry is back.

And then he went on to boast how his administration has created more jobs by producing batteries like the Chevy Volt uses.

What’s true for natural gas is true for clean energy. In three years, our partnership with the private sector has already positioned America to be the world’s leading manufacturer of high-tech batteries. Because of federal investments, renewable energy use has nearly doubled. And thousands of Americans have jobs because of it.

That's not exactly the case. Most of the manufacturing process of General Motor's high tech batteries didn't create many American jobs because most of the manufacturing of GM's batteries are made in Korea. Some assembly then takes place when most of the manufacturing finally ends up in Michigan.

More Federal Control of the Internet May Put Pressure on Google to Block 9/11 Conspiracies

The federal government may soon be putting pressure on Google and other search engine providers to censor certain materials. Does Google have a responsibility to help stop the spread of 9/11 denialism, anti-vaccine activism, and other fringe beliefs?

Slate writes:

People who deny global warming, oppose the Darwinian account of evolution, refuse to see the causal link between HIV and AIDS, and think that 9/11 was an inside job have put the Internet to great use. Initially, the Internet helped them find and recruit like-minded individuals and promote events and petitions favorable to their causes. However, as so much of our public life has shifted online, they have branched out into manipulating search engines, editing Wikipedia entries, harassing scientists who oppose whatever pet theory they happen to believe in, and amassing digitized scraps of "evidence" that they proudly present to potential recruits.

A new article in the medical journal Vaccine sheds light on the online practices of one such group—the global anti-vaccination movement, which is a loose coalition of rogue scientists, journalists, parents, and celebrities, who think that vaccines cause disorders like autism—a claim that has been thoroughly discredited by modern science.

While the anti-vaccination movement itself is not new—religious concerns about vaccination date back to the early 18th century—the ease of self-publishing and search afforded by the Internet along with a growing skeptical stance towards scientific expertise—has given the anti-vaccination movement a significant boost. Thus, Jenny McCarthy, an actress who has become the public face of the anti-vaccination movement, boasts that much of her knowledge about the harms of vaccination comes from "the university of Google.” She regularly shares her "knowledge" about vaccination with her nearly half-million Twitter followers. This is the kind of online influence that Nobel Prize-winning scientists can only dream of; Richard Dawkins, perhaps the most famous working scientist, has only 300,000 Twitter followers.

Today, anyone who searches for "is global warming real" or "risks of vaccination" or "who caused 9/11?" on Google or Bing is just a few clicks away from joining one of such communities. Given that censorship of search engines is not an appealing or even particularly viable option, what can be done to ensure that users are made aware that all the pseudoscientific advice they are likely to encounter may not be backed by science?

The options aren't many. One is to train our browsers to flag information that may be suspicious or disputed. Thus, every time a claim like "vaccination leads to autism" appears in our browser, that sentence would be marked in red—perhaps, also accompanied by a pop-up window advising us to check a more authoritative source. The trick here is to come up with a database of disputed claims that itself would correspond to the latest consensus in modern science—a challenging goal that projects like “Dispute Finder” are tackling head on.

The second—and not necessarily mutually exclusive—option is to nudge search engines to take more responsibility for their index and exercise a heavier curatorial control in presenting search results for issues like "global warming" or "vaccination." Google already has a list of search queries that send most traffic to sites that trade in pseudoscience and conspiracy theories; why not treat them differently than normal queries? Thus, whenever users are presented with search results that are likely to send them to sites run by pseudoscientists or conspiracy theorists, Google may simply display a huge red banner asking users to exercise caution and check a previously generated list of authoritative resources before making up their minds.

In more than a dozen countries Google already does something similar for users who are searching for terms like "ways to die" or "suicidal thoughts" by placing a prominent red note urging them to call the National Suicide Prevention Hotline. It may seem paternalistic, but this is the kind of nonintrusive paternalism that might be saving lives without interfering with the search results. Of course, such a move might trigger conspiracy theories of its own—e.g. is Google shilling for Big Pharma or for Al Gore?—but this is a risk worth taking as long as it can help thwart the growth of fringe movements.

So how long will it be before the federal government writes it's next internet censorship bill like SOPA to include forcing search engines to only produce searches on government approved internet materials?

The Polls Speak of the Unelectability of Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney is Just Too Liberal

Newt Gingrich is surging in polls across the country in the Republican primary. His main opponent at this time is Mitt Romney, a man who had a lower approval rating than Barack Obama when he was governor of Massachusetts. While that fact may seem like it would give Gingrich an advantage in the national election, it clearly does not. A recent Fox News poll proves how unelectable Gingrich is.

According to a Fox News poll, 56 percent of the American people have an unfavorable opinion of the former speaker. Only 27 percent hold a favorable opinion. By two to one, the nation has a negative view of Newt. And as Newt has been a national figure for two decades, to reverse the impression he has left on the country would require an immense volume of positive media, free and bought.

And Newt is getting neither.

So can Mitt Romney save us? Well, there is a reason he wasn't well liked as a governor. He increased spending, big government, and taxes in Massachusetts. The Romney record isn't going to sit well with the conservative base. Then when you combine his record for supporting abortion, funding Planned Parenthood in Romneycare, and pushing for more gun control, it's going to be hard for Mitt to gain the support of the Tea Party, Constitutional crowd, and conservatives.

When you consider the dynamics here, it's funny these two men continue to push the idea they are electable and Ron Paul isn't.

So Why Aren't the DeceptiCONs Talking About Bombing Saudi Arabia Back to the Stone Ages?

The war drum beats louder for war against Iran. Since the mid-90s our intelligence community has warned Iran is just a few years from having nukes. Here were are 20 years later, and the intelligence community hasn't changes its story even though there is no credible evidence Iran is close. The federal government has created another WMD lie to keep the industrial military complex churning. Soon we will bomb the snot out of Iran. It's coming as tensions build.

A miss article that I haven't heard much talk about is another Islamic country in the region's desire to acquire nuclear weapons now. We are talking the same country that Osama Bin Ladin called his home at one time, and who has ties to terrorism. Of course, we are too busy using their oil to care. Check out the headline.

The New York Times wrote on December 6, 2011:

A Saudi prince, in a remark designed to send chills through the Obama administration and its allies, suggested that the kingdom might consider producing nuclear weapons if it found itself between atomic arsenals in Iran and Israel.

The prince, Turki al-Faisal, who has served as the Saudi intelligence chief and as ambassador to the United States, made the comment on Monday at a Persian Gulf security forum in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The remark confirmed Western fears about the potential for an arms race in the Middle East if Iran moves to produce a nuclear weapon.

So the question here is, are the Saudi's really preparing to produce nukes, or is this more propaganda designed to pressure politicians into an aggressive attack against Iran?

Of course, why not just bomb Saudi Arabia back to the stone ages too for their desire to acquire nuclear weapons?

You see, it's America's hypocritical foreign policy that will continue to send billions to Saudi Arabia whether they have nukes or not despite their ties to terrorists. There are ties.

It's like Pakistan. Pakistan has nukes and we know they harbor terrorists, but that hasn't stopped the United States from sending billions in foreign aid to Pakistan.

Iran, a country that hasn't' invaded another country in over 150 years, well that's a different story. Anyone see the hypocrisy here?

Obama's 2012 State of the Union Address

Well the Obama campaign kicked off last night during the State of the Union. How appropriate that NBC's Biggest Loser gave up an hour to "the biggest loser." Last night was Barack Obama providing hypocrisy in front of the American people. Promising more big government and entitlements while claiming he wants to cut the deficit.

He claimed he was for less regulations and then launched a tirade to justify more regulations including setting up a federal police force to keep an eye on the banks. He claimed to be a dairy farmer's friend, and yet the war against the raw milk farmer and organic farmer has increased under his watch. The hypocrisy was laid out in front of you.

One of Obama's solutions last night was more federal meddling in education. He proposed more vocational and educational opportunities for the unemployed. Wait a minute, this man spent $1 trillion to create jobs for Americans in his first year, and yet the unemployment rate remains high. You trust this man to spend another dime creating another entitlement--and a few long minutes later he was talking deficit reduction after another federal entitlement was laid out.

Oh, and then there was Obama crossing the boundaries of the 10th Amendment telling states they will keep children in school until they are 18? Seriously, if a 16 year old is being disruptive and interfering with the learning process of other children, why do we want to force them to stay in school if they don't want to be there? The more appropriate solution to this is less government entitlements for drop outs. No food stamps for you!

Then there was Obama the brave warrior. He talked about ending the war in Iraq, but there is still a huge American military presence over there. The last bullets in Iraq have not been fired. He took credit for killing Osama Bin Ladin, yet we never saw the body or proof, and the Seal Team that took him out was shot down just a few weeks later. Then there was the we go Khadafi part of the speech. He failed to mention that leading up to the sudden turn on Khadafi, America was providing billions in aid that ended up in the Central Bank of Libya. There is a lot of things to question about when it comes to Obama's role as commander and chief.

Obama celebrated the return of GM pointing out how government saved GM. He left out the federal government had to attack another company that provides American jobs to save GM. Anyone remember the federal witch hunt against Toyota?

Wasn't that the theme of Obama's speech? Government is the solution to all problems? From saving the auto industry to energy solutions, no American could be successful without government holding their hand. This is Obama's arrogance at its finest. While Obama was pushing the federal government to create green energy for 3 million homes, did you forget all the stimulus money invested in green energy companies that have gone bankrupt and are out of business? Oh the real Obama record was forgotten last night.

Of course, there was pandering to the Hispanic community. In one breath, after years of fighting states like Arizona and their effort to secure their border, Obama claimed his administration is the most active in protecting the border and stopping illegal immigration, but the idea of amnesty for illegals soon followed. If you believe the Obama administration has a record of securing our borders, I beg you to revisit the federal government's fight against the people of Arizona.

Did you notice how the parade of victims was replaced last night? Obama's parade of victims were people who pointed at the federal government as the reason their lives are hell to justify Obama's rhetoric against the GOP. Now Obama parades around Americans who were saved by unconstitutional big government meddling that continues to make victims out of the rest of us by enslaving us to larger deficits. Obama actually took credit for people filling out job applications and getting a job. One idiot he pointed out had tears in his eyes like he had just been touched by the hand of Jesus Christ himself to get the job.

Finally, our founding fathers established the foundation of this country by laying out that all men are created equal. Clearly, as Obama justified his tax policy saying some Americans should pay more and some Americans shouldn't pay at all, all men are not equal under the federal government's eye as they continue to push a progressive tax rate upwards for a select group of Americans.

Obama ended his speech by telling America we are a team and he's got our back. This is the same made who armed Mexican drug cartels with American weapons in hopes of blaming American gun shops in Fast and Furious. If Obama's got our back, he's also painted a target on our backs.

Ozark High School Ready to Give Every Student a Tablet Computer for Class Next Year

As if Ozark kids don't get enough pixels every day after school whether it be endless hours on the Xbox 360 or in front of the television, Ozark High School is about to deliver more pixels for students to zone out in front of. Starting next year, the school board has approved a tablet computer for every student. Now I don't know about you, but this just seems like trouble brewing.

First off, didn't the school board ask teachers to take salary cuts last year? Now they are wanting to buy every kid a tablet computer? So cut a teacher's salary so kids can have an internet connected distraction in front of them! I thought iPhones were already a problem in the classroom and now the school board, just months after announcing budget problems and asking teachers to take a pay cut, are going to buy large versions of the iPhone at the cost of what $500 to a $1000 a piece for kids to play with in the classroom? How many kids now go to Ozark?

Will they be a distraction in the classroom? Why of course! Here's another problem parents should consider. We already know schools in other communities across the country have used technology like this to monitor their students at home activities. You may recall one Pennsylvania school actually using the cameras on these devices to watch children in their bedrooms. It was quite creepy. Of course technology issued to students like this always poses that threat.

Then parents must face the reality of their irresponsible kids caring for this device. Obviously, a glass screen will not survive an entire year in a back pack--thrown around and pressed up against the books. What happens when the screen break. By the way, students may take the utmost of care with devices like this, but let's say they get left out in a cold car and brought inside the warm house and turned on immediately. Do you know what is likely to happen? Let's just say parents may be left to pay hundreds of dollars to replace the device either way.

Of course, considering a high school education is worth less and less, Ozark Schools can send me all the bills they want. Oh, you are going to withhold grade cards or my child's diploma? Oh well! Last I looked a high school education really doesn't mean much these days. You might earn a job with a name tag on your shirt afterwards after four years at Ozark.

What if the devices get stolen. You know, the kids at the library and gets up to grab a book. Gone in second! Parents are left to pay the price.

I just don't see the value of a tablet in the classroom. There are computers already in the class room that can do everything a tablet can do and more. This is just more look at us, we are Ozark crap that cost taxpayers lots of money while the teachers are told there is not enough money in the budget and they must take pay cuts. Well, what is it? Not enough money or too much money?

It appears if it's about image at Ozark High School, there is plenty of money to spend, whether it be a football stadium with a full-color video scoreboard and astroturf, to the costly United Nation's indoctrination program known as the International Baccalaureate, to now iPads or something similar. However, when it comes to paying good teachers, there doesn't appear to be any money. How can that be Dr. Pace? Care to provide insight Chuck (Fugate)?

I know what you are thinking as I type this. The cost to put text books on a tablet will save the school money. Well, I was told that question was asked by one teacher, and they were told it actually cost more to license the text book for a tablet.

Still, parents are paying hundreds of dollars just in school supplies these days just to get their kids off to school. Why not add a $70 Kindle to the list. That makes sense right? Well, once again the problem comes from the cost to order electronic text books at this time.

Thus, it would be just as advantageous to make kids turn pages in a good-old fashioned book.

Newt Gingrich Proudly Supports $16.1 Trillion in Unfunded Liabilities in Florida Debate

Did anyone catch Newt Gingrich proudly justifying his support of big government in last night's Florida debate. Here's a little taste:

GINGRICH: Hold on friend, you just jumped a long area here. No, let me be very clear. I understand your technique because you use this consistently. It’s not going to work because the American public sees through you. The US government was not prepared to give people anything like insulin, but they would pay for kidney dialysis. I am proud to have advocated for Medicare Part D because it gives people choices. It is not correct Mitt to describe public advocay and citizenship as lobbying — that is my right as a citizen.

Oh yeah, the Republican expansion of Medicare known as Part D! You know those same rascally Republicans who keep selling the Tea Party they are against the idea of socialized medicine--ready, or so they claim to "repeal and replace" when it comes to Obamacare. It's the replace you should be worried about.

Medicare Part D is government expansion at its worse. Another program that starts broken and will soon bankrupt the United States, and the Republicans' fingerprints are all over it. Heck, Newt is proudly recalling his support for this big government monstrosity.

Iran May Be Able to Build an Atomic Bomb in 5 Years, US and Israeli Officials Fear

Now you may think this headline may be right out of the New York Times today, but it's not. This was printed in the New York Times nearly 20 years ago. That's right, this is a lie that keeps getting an extension on life in order to justify more war.

I used to be supporter of the Bush Doctrine and this desire for war. Then I started looking at the facts. We are fed the same rhetoric of fear over and over as America becomes more aggressive in the world. This rhetoric is used to make us look like we have the moral high ground, but it's hard to take the moral high ground when the lies of WMDs continue to lead to the deaths of people around the world that came from orders from Washington.

Judging from the first two paragraphs, the rhetoric never changes from Washington. Americans just buy it up, quickly losing track of time. Thus, Iran is still five years from getting nukes almost twenty years later.

Iran is much closer to producing nuclear weapons than previously thought, and could be less than five years away from having an atomic bomb, several senior American and Israeli officials say.

"The date by which Iran will have nuclear weapons is no longer 10 years from now," a senior official said recently, referring to previous estimates. "If the Iranians maintain this intensive effort to get everything they need, they could have all their components in two years. Then it will be just a matter of technology and research. If Iran is not interrupted in this program by some foreign power, it will have the device in more or less five years."

Hate SOPA? Well the Government Knows You Will Really Hate ACTA

I was so proud of the Internet community pointing out the government's attempt to censor the Internet last week. Those who tried going to Wikipedia pages were blocked with a SOPA message. Google had a graphic blocking out their logo. Across the Internet it was clear, we don't want our government to kill the First Amendment and censor the Internet.

This government doesn't give up and they are always looking for the next edge in acquiring more power over the people. Now we have ACTA, the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement.

ACTA bypasses the sovereign laws of participating nations, forcing ISP’s across the globe to adopt these draconian measures.

Worse, it goes much further than the internet, cracking down on generic drugs and making food patents even more radical than they are by enforcing a global standard on seed patents that threatens local farmers and food independence across the developed world.

Despite ACTA’s secrecy, criticism of the agreement has been widespread. Countries like India and Brazil have been vocal opponents of the agreement, claiming that it will do a great deal of harm to emerging economies.

I’ll have more on the agreement as it emerges. But to briefly sum up, ACTA contains global IP provisions as restrictive or worse than anything contained in SOPA and PIPA.

ACTA spans virtually all of the developed world, threatening the freedom of the internet as well as access to medication and food. The threat is every bit as real for those countries not involved in the process as the signatories themselves.
ACTA has already been signed by many countries including the US, but requires ratification in the EU parliament and the US Senate.
The entire monstrosity has been negotiated behind closed doors and kept secret from the public. Technocrats, beholden to the deep pockets of the entertainment lobby, have masked the agreement behind the misnomer of “anti-counterfeiting” when in fact it goes much, much further.

If you thought SOPA would break the internet, ACTA is much worse. And it could become law across the global economy without so much as a murmur of opposition.

Red Spotlights: Pre Crime Law Enforcement Technique or Big Brother's Scarlet Letter

We all know the story of The Scarlet Letter where a woman is marked with an "A" for having an adulterous affair. Now New Jersey Police may have their version of a modern day Scarlet letter as red lights will mark people the police feel may commit a crime.

According to the report, police officers monitor hundreds of video feeds from across the city and opt to brand would-be criminals with a red glow if they believe they are about to engage in a crime, such as a street corner mugging.

“Whereas London has talking cameras, we’re about to deploy light projecting cameras, better known as light-based intervention systems.” said William Robinson, Police Chief for East Orange. He added, “The message to criminals is, we’re observing you, the police are recording you, and the police are responding.”

So if the police see you on a video feed and you look suspicious they will call you out with a red searchlight in New Jersey. Guilty before proven innocent.

Newt Lies About Being a Goldwater Republican: Newt Admitted Long Ago He is Rockefeller Republican

The 1964 presidential election was lost by Republicans not because the Democrats ran a better candidate, but the GOP killed off a Barry Goldwater presidency from within their own ranks. That's what brought down Goldwater and paved the way for the liberal Richard Nixon who committed great crimes against the Constitution.

So anyway, last night at the Florida debate, Newt tells another whopper. He's a Barry Goldwater Republican.

"I went to a Goldwater organizing session in 1964. I met with Ronald Reagan for the first time in 1974. I worked with Jack Kemp, and Art Laffer and others to develop supply side economics in the late '70s. I helped Governor Reagan become President Reagan. I helped pass the Reagan economic program and worked with the National Security Council on issues including the collapse of the Soviet Empire," Newt Gingrich said at tonight's debate.

Here's Newt many years ago saying he was a Rockefeller Republican.

What does Newt's record prove? Is he is Goldwater little 'r' Republican or is he a big government Rockefeller Republican?

Well it's not hard to find out that Newt has supported big government more times than not. He was instrumental in helping Hillary get passed components of Hillarycare after Hillarycare failed like SCHIPS. He pushed for HIPPA and the federal mandate that forces you to buy healthcare. He supported cap and trade taxes, and I could on and on. I think you get my point. Barry Goldwater would not have supported these issues. Newt is no Barry Goldwater Republican.

Inc. and Gingrich Productions as compensation to them, while reporting a whopping $2.4 million of their earnings from these corporations as profits or dividends. Medicare taxes are levied at a rate of 2.9% on an unlimited amount of compensation and self-employment income (say, from a consulting contract, speeches or a book) but not on profits from a business.

“It appears that he is not paying his fair share of Medicare tax,’’ Robert E. McKenzie, a partner in the Chicago law firm of Arnstein & Lehr LLP concluded, in an email to Forbes, after reviewing Gingrich’s 2010 tax return. McKenzie, a past chairman of the Employment Tax Committee of the American Bar Association Tax Section and a member of the IRS’ Advisory Council, added: “There are a multitude of cases where the IRS has successfully challenged the improper tax strategy of this candidate and his accountants. Service businesses are only allowed to distribute a fair return on investment from an S corp. as profits exempt from Medicare taxes. The remainder of profits must be paid as salary subject to a 2.9% Medicare tax levy.”

Doctors Aren't Real Thrilled With Newt Gingrich and the GOP's Federal Meddling in Healthcare Either

We have heard plenty of doctors speak out against Obama and Obamacare. We know many have threatened to leave medicine once Obamacare is fully implemented. While I will first state I will never defend Obama's unconstitutional federal healthcare mandate and Obamacare, we need to remember that Republicans are just as guilty as Obama in trying to create a federal program that interferes with your healthcare. Doctors are now pointing out Newt Gingrich and the GOP's unconstitutional power grabs for the control of healthcare.

Doctors to Gingrich: Republicans Need to Repent on “Healthcare”

Newt Gingrich and other Republicans promise to repeal ObamaCare, but doctors remember what they did in 1996. Just after they “defeated” ClintonCare, they changed its name and enacted the very worst parts of it.

The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) started out as a short act to improve “COBRA” coverage that allows workers to extend employer-sponsored insurance for a time after changing jobs. But about 300 pages mysteriously appeared, grafted onto this supposedly insignificant bill.

Republicans evidently don’t read the bills either. They appeared to be shocked when I called this addendum to their attention, and its remarkable similarity to parts of the Clinton plan. In fact, parts were practically a verbatim “cut and paste.”

One portion amounts to the criminalization of medicine with huge penalties—fines and even long prison terms—for minor coding errors that used to be considered billing disputes. Hundreds of millions of dollars were shoveled into federal enforcement programs, which often seem to be entrapment programs. There’s a giant new cottage “compliance” industry adding to the costs and hassles of Medicare.

Another part of HIPAA is the “Privacy” Rule, which is really a disclosure rule. This creates all kinds of vexing rules that hinder patient care (no more whiteboards with patients’ names on them!) or block communication with family or a patient’s private physician. But it authorizes disclosure to hundreds of other entities, including insurers or government agencies, without patient consent.

Then there are standards for electronic claims or records. These facilitate creation of a giant database containing everyone’s personal information to enable central planning and monitoring—and potentially punishment of physicians who deviate from the political agenda.

Later laws build on this. One is the HITECH Act, the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act, enacted as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (“Stimulus” Act) of 2009. And ObamaCare adds heavier penalties, more rules, and more money for enforcement.

Gingrich is a long-time advocate of “health information technology” (HIT). American medicine makes use of computerization in many ways, but Gingrich thinks it lags far behind Wal-Mart, and that a massive electronic changeover would greatly reduce costs and improve quality. Many physicians urge caution, as HIT has serious potential hazards for patient safety as well as privacy. Gingrich and many others appear to want to impose rapid implementation of government-dictated technology from the top down, without waiting for the free market to pick the winners and losers.

Republicans have other laws to answer for: the Clinton fall-back plan of health insurance coverage for children (SCHIP or KidCare), the Clinton-Gingrich automatic fee cuts to physicians if Medicare spending exceeds a certain target (the “Sustained Growth Rate” or SGR problem that Congress overrules year after year); and a huge new entitlement, Medicare Part D (prescription drug coverage), which added trillions to Medicare’s unfunded liabilities. Gingrich, though not in Congress in 2003, lobbied heavily for Part D, calling it “the most important bill to vote on in your career.”

Gingrich reveals his progressive bent in telling Glenn Beck that “no private corporation has the purchasing power or the ability to reshape the health system.”And since we already have Medicare, it should cover other medical items that seniors need.

In a free market, of course, it is the purchasing decisions of millions of free men and women that reshape the system. And we can’t return to limited government by expanding the errors that we previously made.

Like Romney, Gingrich has favored an individual mandate to purchase insurance. This is the big-government, progressive answer to the problem that some do not or cannot meet their individual responsibility to pay for the medical services they use. Progressives force physicians and hospitals to provide unlimited free care, and then to compensate for it, propose a mandated third-party payment mechanism in addition to taxation.

Republicans need to remember that government is the problem, not the solution. We have had a bipartisan march toward government control of medicine. The answer is not Clinton-Lite or Obama-Lite, but rather a return of the power to make medical decisions to patients and physicians.

Mitt Romney's Worrisome Comment About Federal Mandates, Medicare, Obamacare from South Carolina

I have been saying for almost a year now Republicans will fail in repealing Obamacare. First, it was the Republicans along with the Heritage Foundation that came up with the main ideas for Obamacare. They are pushing Mitt Romney towards the nomination, who gave Obamacare a test run in Massachusetts. Finally, there is power in this, and you are kidding yourself if you still believe the GOP is about small government and power to the people.

With that said, there was an exchange at the South Carolina debate that provides further insight into my prediction. Obamacare and the federal mandate was the topic of discussion and Mitt Romney's answer is alarming.

To set up the answer, Rick Santorum attack Romney on Romneycare at the debate, which sets up the response from Mitt Romney. Here's the transcript:

MR. SANTORUM: The biggest -- the biggest thing we have to do is elect a president. I think Newt's right. The problem is that two of the people up here would be very difficult to elect on, I think, the most important issue that this country is dealing with right now, which is the robbing of our freedom because of "Obamacare."

Governor Romney tells a very nice story about what his plan is now. It wasn't his plan when he was in a position to do a plan. When he was governor of Massachusetts, he put forth "Romneycare," which was not a bottom-up, free-market system. It was a government-run health care system that was the basis of "Obamacare." And it has been an abject failure, and he has stood by it.

He's stood by the fact that it's $8 billion more expensive -- (applause) -- than under the current law. He's stood by the fact that Massachusetts has the highest health insurance premiums of any state in the country; it is 27 percent more expensive than the average state in the country. Doctors -- if you're in the Massachusetts health care system, over 50 percent of the doctors now are not seeing new patients -- primary care doctors are not seeing new patients. Those who do get to see a patient are waiting 44 days, on average, for the care.

It is an abject disaster.

He's standing by it, and he's going to have to have to run against a president -- he's going to have to run against a president who's going to say, well, look, look at what you did for Massachusetts, and you're the one criticizing me for what I've done? I used your model for it.

And then -- (cheers, applause) -- then we have Speaker Gingrich, who has been for an individual mandate, not back in the time that just was -- Heritage was floating around in the '90s, but as late as -- comments (since/in ?) 2008, just a few years ago, he stood up and said that we should have an individual mandate or post a $150,000 bond. How many $150,000 bondholders do we have here who can post a bond for their health insurance?

These are two folks who don't present the clear contrast that I do, who was the author of health savings accounts, which is the primary basis of every single -- (cheers, applause) -- conservative reform of health care. I was the author of it back in 1991 and '92, 20 years ago. I've been fighting for health reform, private-sector, bottom-up, the way America works best, for 20 years, while these two guys were playing footsies with the left. (Cheers, applause.)

MR. KING: I want to bring Congressman Paul -- I'll bring him into the discussion in just a moment, but Senator Santorum directly challenged the governor and then the speaker. Governor, you first.

MR. ROMNEY: Well, so much of what the senator said was wrong. Let me mention a few of the things.

First of all, the system in my state is not a government-run system. Ninety-eight -- 92 percent of the people had their own insurance before the system was put in place, and nothing changed for them. They still had the same private insurance. And the 8 percent of the uninsured, they bought private insurance, not government insurance. And the people in the state still favor the plan three to one.

And it certainly doesn't work perfectly. Massachusetts, by the way, had the highest insurance costs before the plan was put in place and after, but fortunately, the rate of growth has slowed down a little less than the overall nation. And one of the things I was proud of is that individuals who wanted to buy their own insurance saw their rates -- when they were not part of a big group -- saw their rates drop by some 40 percent with our plan.

Is it perfect? Absolutely not. But I do believe that having been there, having been on the front lines, showing that I have compassion for people that don't have insurance but that the Obama plan is a 2,700-page, massive tax increase, Medicare-cutting monster, I know how to cut it. I'll eliminate it. I will repeal is and I'll return the -- I'll return the power to the states, where the power for caring for the uninsured ought to reside constitutionally. Thank you.

MR. SANTORUM: Yeah, I'd like --

MR. KING: Senator Santorum, he says your facts are wrong.

MR. SANTORUM: Well, they're simply not wrong. The fact is that, yes, you're right, Governor Romney, 92 percent of people did have health insurance in Massachusetts, but that wasn't private-sector health insurance. A lot of those people were, as you know, on Medicare and Medicaid, so they're already on government insurance, and you just expanded it, in fact. Over half the people who came on the rolls since you put "Romneycare" into effect are fully subsidized by the state of Massachusetts, and a lot of those are on the Medicaid program. So the idea that you have created this marketplace and -- and -- with this government-run health care system where you have very prescriptive programs about reimbursement rates, you have a very prescriptive program just like what President Obama is trying to put in place here, you're arguing for a plan -- you're defending a plan that is top-down. It is not a free-market health care system. It is not bottom-up. It is prescriptive in government. It was the basis for "Obamacare." And we do not draw a distinction that it's going to be effective for us just because it was the state level, not the federal level. (Applause.)

MR. ROMNEY: (Chuckles.)

MR. KING: If you want, Governor, quickly.

MR. ROMNEY: Sure, absolutely.

First of all, as you probably know, Medicaid is not a state program. All right?

MR. SANTORUM: Of course it is. It's a state and federal program.

MR. ROMNEY: Medicaid is as demanded by the federal government, and it is -- it's -- it is a mandate --

Of course Romney is right. Americans don't get a say Medicare or Social Security. That wealth is confiscated from every working American who pays taxes. It is a mandate. What have the Republicans taught us about these mandates?

Have they tried to repeal them or shrink them? No! They expanded them.

The truth is Republicans love mandates just like Obama loves mandates, and Mitt's answer reminds of this. In fact, it should be pointed out, Santorum, who is trying to play holier than thou in this argument because he was long out of government by the time Obamacare rolled around for a vote, was a key player in the Medicaid expansion, an expansion of the federal mandate, under President George W. Bush. That's right. Republicans voted to expand that mandate--not repeal it.

Romney plays with words government-run, but he knows his model is the exact model of Obama minus a couple minor changes.

The New York Post reported:

In fact, we have already seen the start of this process in Massachusetts, where Mitt Romney’s health care reforms were nearly identical to President Obama’s. Romney’s reforms increased the demand for health care but did nothing to expand the supply of physicians. In fact, by cracking down on insurance premiums, Massachusetts pushed insurers to reduce their payments to providers, making it less worthwhile for doctors to expand their practices. As a result, the average wait to get an appointment with a doctor grew from 33 days to over 55 days.

So let's be honest here. Republicans have no record of repealing unconstitutional mandates, only expanding them. Another reason I am not holding my breath believing Mitt and the Republicans are going to save us from Obamacare. Even if they do, they are promising to replace, and Mitt Romney's expertise in this matter isn't exactly stellar, and we both know Newt Gingrich and Mitt support the mandate.

The headlines read today the TSA thugs are holding Senator Rand Paul. Ron Paul issued a press release about the federal government's detention of Senator Paul at the Nashville airport alerting the TSA their days are numbered.

“The police state in this country is growing out of control. One of the ultimate embodiments of this is the TSA that gropes and grabs our children, our seniors, and our loved ones and neighbors with disabilities. The TSA does all of this while doing nothing to keep us safe.
“That is why my ‘Plan to Restore America,’ in additional to cutting $1 trillion dollars in federal spending in one year, eliminates the TSA.

“We must restore the freedom and respect for liberty that once made American the greatest nation in human history. I am deeply committed to doing that as President of the United States.”

Senator Paul was detained for standing up for his Constitutional rights.

Kentucky Senator Rand Paul was briefly detained this morning after a standoff incident with TSA officers In Nashville.

In a telephone interview with AP, Rand Paul confirmed that an “anomaly” on his knee was picked up by a full body scanner. Paul said he asked for another scan, but the TSA insisted he submit to a pat down by airport security.

After refusing the pat-down on the grounds that it was an infringement on his rights and “private property”, Paul said he was then “detained” in a small cubicle and consequently missed a flight to Washington for a Senate session. Paul was also due to speak at the March for Life later today in DC.

Here's probably the real reason why Senator Paul was detained:

Senator Rand Paul was caught at security carrying a pocket Constitution. This is a known handbook for terrorism.

The scanner was right - Rand Paul is a threat to big government.

Media hound and Republican operative Lucas Case is making every moment count of his coming out party. A few weeks ago, to no real surprise, he announced he was gay while attacking the GOP using democratic talking points like intolerant. Case obviously ignored the GOP accepted his gayness for years as he was propped up as a player in many campaigns around Missouri to the disbelief of many considering his big mouth and lack of skills.

One of the things driving Lucas Case is Republicans who won't accept and allow gay marriage. St. Louis Today reported:

The 24-year-old Branson man, who until recently was U.S. Senate candidate Sarah Steelman's political director, is very unhappy about how his party treats gays and lesbians. Like so many people like him — and there are many in the Republican Party — he has heard the slurs, sat through meetings in which gays were bashed, and watched the party develop more and more anti-gay positions.

He's sick of it.

Not long ago he called me and asked if I'd help him get his story out.

"I think people should know there are a lot of gay Republicans," Mr. Case said. "It shouldn't be an issue."

But it is a very big issue indeed. Missouri Republicans were key to a constitutional amendment passing overwhelmingly in 2004 prohibiting same-sex marriages. They generally opposed the effort by President Barack Obama to get rid of the "don't ask, don't tell" policy that banned gay servicemen and women from being honest about their sexuality.

In perhaps the ultimate endorsement of hypocrisy, Case has been militant on social media with his endorsement of Mitt Romney for president. Going even as far as attempting to launch a Twitter campaign using that progressive tool of labeling the Republican a racist.

Mr. Case and his boyfriend, who he hopes will soon get to meet Kathy Griffin are obviously either ignoring the facts about Romney or are just plain hypocrites when it comes to Case's campaign for gay marriage.

You see, like abortion Mitt Romney flip flopped on the issue about the same time he decided one term as Massachusetts governor was enough and rumors came out that he was planning to run for president.

In the 1994 Senate race, Romney aligned himself with Republican Massachusetts Governor William Weld, who believed in fiscal conservatism and supported abortion rights and gay rights, saying "I think Bill Weld's fiscal conservatism, his focus on creating jobs and employment and his efforts to fight discrimination and assure civil rights for all is a model that I identify with and aspire to."[259]

As a gubernatorial candidate, and then as Governor of Massachusetts, Romney again generally operated in the mold established by Weld and followed by Weld's two other Republican successors, Paul Cellucci and Jane Swift: restrain spending and taxing, be tolerant or permissive on social issues, protect the environment, be tough on crime, try to appear post-partisan.[258][260]

Of course during the debate, we see this flip flop on Roney's support for gay rights.

But -- but to say that -- that marriage is something other than the relationship between a man -- a man and a woman, I think, is a mistake. And the reason for that is not that we want to discriminate against people or to suggest that -- that gay couples are not just as loving and can’t also raise children well.

Romney's flip flops on issues happen around 2005. This being important because he would announce soon after he was a "conservative" running for office.

There is an illness in the Republican party when it comes to Romney. While Lucas has a very rare case of the illness, a great strain of the illness comes from other issues. That illness is this ability to realize that Romney really hasn't stood for anything you agree with, but you still have this desire to support him.

For Case, it's this obvious hypocrisy in which he called out Missouri GOP leaders for opposing gay marriage while at the same time endorsing Romney. For most Republicans, it's this desire to ignore Romney's past--which promotes abortion, gun control, more taxes, bigger government, socialized medicine, and other issues that have never been a published part of the Republican platform. For some reason, people just want to ignore that Romney really doesn't represent what they stand for as they are ready to push that button in November for him.

It's almost like there is this denial who Romney clearly is despite so much evidence that proves what Romney really is.

I have been a vocal critic of the United States foreign policy of providing military training for the very same Muslims that we say are dangerous. A couple months ago I pointed out we attacked Iraq for weapons of mass destruction that never existed, and now we are arming the same people with weapons that cause lots of destruction like M1 Abrams tanks. I asked, what are we going to do when these people, and they will, used these weapons against us. Well, that may be starting to happen to some capacity.

The spin coming from South Carolina is the conservative rallied in the final days to beat the liberal Republican Mitt Romney. If Newt Gingrich is "conservative" then a major definition transition is now complete.

While Mitt Romney is clearly a liberal, he made a good point as South Carolina was looking for its modern version of Reagan to spread a conservative revolution. He pointed out how Newt was running around South Carolina claiming to be part author of the Reagan Revolution economic policies. Romney's team went digging into the Reagan diaries looking for ammo. They discovered Newt was mentioned once in Reagan's diary, and it appears Ronald Reagan didn't think much of Newt Gingrich.

Last night's debate was entertaining. There were times when I was cheering both big government Republicans Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum on. Had only they weren't hypocrites to the mud they sling, they might look appealing on the ballot come November. As we know, neither of these two are Constitutional conservatives.

The attacks against Mitt Romney and his Romneycare, which Obama adopted as his own, were on last night. Newt pointed out Romneycare funded Planned Parenthood.

The most memorable exchange on Romneycare/Obamacare last night came from Rick Santorum launched an attack against both Romney and Gingrich, who let's not forget was part of those Republicans that worked with the Heritage Foundation to draft today what we know as Obamacare.

We know Romney isn't apologizing for the boondoggle known as Romneycare. In fact, Romney passionately defends it despite the New York Post providing the reality of healthcare in Massachusetts where insurance premiums for health care are the highest in the country.

In fact, we have already seen the start of this process in Massachusetts, where Mitt Romney’s health care reforms were nearly identical to President Obama’s. Governor Romney tells a very nice story about what his plan is now. It wasn't his plan when he was in a position to do a plan. When he was governor of Massachusetts, he put forth "Romneycare," which was not a bottom-up, free-market system. It was a government-run health care system that was the basis of "Obamacare." And it has been an abject failure, and he has stood by it.

He's stood by the fact that it's $8 billion more expensive -- (applause) -- than under the current law. He's stood by the fact that Massachusetts has the highest health insurance premiums of any state in the country; it is 27 percent more expensive than the average state in the country. Doctors -- if you're in the Massachusetts health care system, over 50 percent of the doctors now are not seeing new patients -- primary care doctors are not seeing new patients. Those who do get to see a patient are waiting 44 days, on average, for the care.

It is an abject disaster.

He's standing by it, and he's going to have to have to run against a president -- he's going to have to run against a president who's going to say, well, look, look at what you did for Massachusetts, and you're the one criticizing me for what I've done? I used your model for it.

And then -- (cheers, applause) -- then we have Speaker Gingrich, who has been for an individual mandate, not back in the time that just was -- Heritage was floating around in the '90s, but as late as -- comments (since/in ?) 2008, just a few years ago, he stood up and said that we should have an individual mandate or post a $150,000 bond. How many $150,000 bondholders do we have here who can post a bond for their health insurance?

These are two folks who don't present the clear contrast that I do, who was the author of health savings accounts, which is the primary basis of every single -- (cheers, applause) -- conservative reform of health care. I was the author of it back in 1991 and '92, 20 years ago. I've been fighting for health reform, private-sector, bottom-up, the way America works best, for 20 years, while these two guys were playing footsies with the left.

I know. Don't you want to give Santorum kudos. And then you remember he was a big part of the Medicare expansion project just a few years ago, so his hands really aren't clean from socialized medicine either. Had Santorum set the example, he may have earned a few points.

Ron Paul Delivers a Pro-Life Beauty at South Carolina Debate

While the abortion argument should be left to the states since the federal government has no Constitutional authority to decide on such an issue, I feel Ron Paul's debate answer last night at the South Carolina debate was a beauty. He nearly got ignored by the establishment and main stream media and nearly didn't get the chance to answer the question.

Then Ron Paul delivered a beautiful answer.

“John, once again, it’s a medical subject. I’m a doctor!” Paul beamed. “No, I do want to make a couple comments because I can remember the very early years studying obstetrics and I was told — it was before the age of abortion. I was told taking care of a woman that’s pregnant, you have two patients. I think that solves a lot of the problem about, you know, when life begins and all.”

I guess when the establishment's favorite, Mitt Romney, talks like this...

...you would probably do what you can to prevent Dr. Paul from delivering such a powerful answer that once again puts Mitt for Brains in his place.

GINGRICH: Governor Romney has said that he had an experience that made him Pro Life. Romneycare does pay for abortions and brings Planned Parenthood into it but no right to life groups. A branch of Mass government funds planned parenthood. If you are genuinely pro Life how are these things occurring?

Of course Romney had an excuse, but this has always been the problem of government thinking they have the responsibility of providing their citizens of healthcare.

While Romney did try to wiggle around the question, he did say this of Romneycare, "It’s true that in that 70 page bill I mention Planned Parenthood but it’s only that one mention."

Well I guess one is all it takes to push funding for Planned Parenthood. Why else would it be in there other than to appropriate tax dollars to Margaret Sanger's project?

Mitt Romney won right? Eight votes on Iowa Caucus night separated Romney from Rick Santorum right? Well not exactly.

The Republican establishment's fixation for liberal Mitt Romney is keeping the true Iowa story off the front pages. Obviously, there is a problem with the Iowa count since eight counties precincts have gone missing.

That's big news in itself when you consider the concentrated efforts of Republicans to discount Iowa shortly before the primary as Ron Paul was surging and their favorite candidate, Mitt Romney, wasn't gaining any traction. Now we find out Mitt Romney didn't win Iowa's popular vote at all. I haven't heard much said about that as we go into South Carolina.

The Iowa Caucus Web site reports:

Former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum will be listed in Republican Party of Iowa records as the winner of the party’s 2012 precinct caucuses, but his 34-vote victory over GOP presidential rival Mitt Romney will be accompanied by an asterisk.

That’s because party officials said Thursday that results from eight of the 1,774 precincts were missing when they conducted the vote certification process, meaning they likely will never know what the final tallies were for the candidates who competed in the Jan. 3 balloting.

The certified results of 1,766 precincts made public Thursday showed Santorum with 29,839 votes, followed by Romney – a former Massachusetts governor – with 29,805, Texas Rep. Ron Paul in third with 26,036, former House speaker Newt Gingrich with 16,163, Texas Gov. Rick Perry with 12,557, Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann – who quit the race one day after Iowa’s first-in-the-nation caucuses – with 6,046 and former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman with 739. Party officials said 121,503 votes were certified.

So we have eight counties missing in a state where Ron Paul was surging and the Republican establishment lived in fear. Ironically, it seems nobody is talking about the mysterious Santorum victory of Iowa.

The further removed I have gotten from the 2000 presidential campaign, the more skeptical I have become of the Florida vote and the recount. I hate to say it, but the pieces were in place for a fixed vote. Of course, we know Democrats play these games too. It's all about the power Mordor on the Potomac promises and men will do what they have to in order to gain the power. Our Republic is being stolen from us by the power brokers ready to fix electronic voting machines, tamper with chads, or throw out votes... which it appears the Republicans may be doing in Iowa to ensure a Mitt Romney victory. When you realize the manufacturers of voting machines are making campaign contributions to their favored party, you see how quickly the integrity of an election could be compromised.

I heard Mike Church talk about eight county precincts missing from the results of the Iowa Caucus yesterday on his show. This is becoming all to common in the quest for Mordor's power.

Republican officials in Iowa today said that there was no clear winner in the caucus held there on January 3. In the end, Romney, a supporter against most things the Republican party says they don't stand for like abortion, gun control, more taxes, bigger government, and socialized medicine, may truly be a candidate pushed through the primary by a rigged system.

Randall says abortion is the most important issue facing this country in 2012. I personally think it's an issue Washington uses to divide us while they are doing other things to destroy our liberty, so perhaps he is right. Rick Perry is out. Governor Gardasil officially announced today he was dropping out of the Republican primary. So you know what this means.

After months of attacking Mitt Romney, Rick Perry will fall in line in a couple weeks and do what the establishment tells him is good for his career, that is if he wants a future in the Republican party. Remember, Perry was one of those outspoken Tea Partiers that will soon be like the other Republicans who betrayed the Tea Party.

Multi-millionaire presidential candidate Mitt Romney liked to raise taxes and fees in Massachusetts as governor. It appears he doesn't have the same enthusiasm for paying taxes himself.

Although it is not apparent on his financial disclosure form, Mitt Romney has millions of dollars of his personal wealth in investment funds set up in the Cayman Islands, a notorious Caribbean tax haven.

"His personal finances are a poster child of what's wrong with the American tax system," said Jack Blum, a Washington lawyer who is an authority on tax enforcement and offshore banking.

On Tuesday, Romney disclosed that he has been paying a far lower percentage in taxes than most Americans, around 15 percent of his annual earnings. It has been Romney's Republican rivals who have driven the tax issue onto center stage. For weeks, Romney has cited a desire for privacy as his reason for not sharing his tax returns -- a gesture of transparency that is now expected from presidential contenders.

Official documents reviewed by ABC News show that Bain Capital, the private equity partnership Romney once ran, has set up some 138 secretive offshore funds in the Caymans.

One Year Left of Obama of Four More Years?: Four More Years No Matter the Outcome

Tomorrow marks the third anniversary of Barack Obama's inauguration. I really thought I would be far more excited than what I am. I figured Obama would be well on his way out the door, but leave it to the Republican party to screw that up. They seem intent on running another John McCain--that's liberal Republican in case you are unaware.

So, tomorrow should mark 365 days left of another disastrous presidency. We left the disaster of George W. Bush, which ended with the housing market exploding, TARP, and the beginning of bailouts, and now we have nearly $6 trillion more in debt in three years as Obama played a dangerous game of spend, spend, spend while creating, like Bush, more entitlement programs.

So what are Republicans pushing in our direction as the solution? Mitt Romney, an man who on paper doesn't look much different than Obama. Oh sure, he may have an R behind his name and that's enough to make most ignorant voters feel good about their vote come November, but the truth is, the way things are shaping up, whether or not Obama wins or not, it appears we are going to get four more years regardless.

Look at the facts.

On stimulus, both Obama and Mitt agree.

On TARP, both Obama and Mitt agree.

On bailouts, both Obama and Mitt agree.

It gets worse. On healthcare, Mitt ran the pilot program known as Romneycare which Obama adopted as his own. The New York Post reported:

In fact, we have already seen the start of this process in Massachusetts, where Mitt Romney’s health care reforms were nearly identical to President Obama’s. Romney’s reforms increased the demand for health care but did nothing to expand the supply of physicians. In fact, by cracking down on insurance premiums, Massachusetts pushed insurers to reduce their payments to providers, making it less worthwhile for doctors to expand their practices. As a result, the average wait to get an appointment with a doctor grew from 33 days to over 55 days.

On gun control, we know Obama has been working hard to create situations to gain more acceptance of gun control laws. Mitt Romney's record has been supporting these same laws including the Brady Bill and a semi-automatic ban in his home state.

Both Obama and Mitt Romney has a record for growing government and spending more money. Of course taxes they love!

Their abortion records only find one real difference. Mitt Romney battled Ted Kennedy as to who was a greater friend of abortion rights, while Obama was the only man in Illinois to vote against the born alive infant protection act.

So the way I look at it, if the race this comes down to Obama vs. Romney, and it's very likely it will, we are getting four more years of Obama anyway you look at it. Not really what I had in mind when they announced Obama the winner in 2008.

She is doing so by pushing this South Carolina loves war rhetoric the Republicans have been using to create wars that are in essence destroying our Constitution and our civil liberties.

Here's the disappointment now establishment Haley's push for Mitt Romney along with other Republican misinformation:

Fox News moderators shunted Ron Paul aside in Monday night’s South Carolina debate, and the aggressive crowd booed his response on whether or not assassinating Osama bin Laden was legal. Some commentators also thought Paul had a weak performance. That’s all right with Republicans, who are striving to portray Paul as an extremist who doesn’t represent the party. “South Carolina is a very strong military state,” said Gov. Nikki Haley, who has endorsed Romney. “Very strong military state, patriotic state, and so I don’t think that that part of his message resonates in South Carolina.” South Carolina GOP chairman Chad Connelly said Paul had campaigned less in the state than others. “I don’t know if he decided to play here less or anything. I’ve kind of been the one saying, ‘Please, come on in, get in the state.’”

Ron Paul doesn't support a weak military. He wants to return the military to its Constitutional state, that is using it for a common defense. Paul's plan doesn't weaken the defensive element of the military in anyway. Tea Party sell-out Haley has adopted the establishment's talking points. Isn't it sad, nearing $16 trillion in debt and we have all the money in the world to increase our $660 billion military budget, which equates to nearly 50% of the world's total military budget. That's a fact the GOP doesn't want you to realize as they push their deceptiCON hack Romney to the White House.

I wish someone would really ask governor Haley about Romney's liberal record and see how well she defends it.

Riley Collier Flies the Confederate Flag and Republic High School Bans his Truck

Apparently the history teachers at Republic High School are still teaching the Civil War was about slavery and the northern states were good and the southern states were bad. Of course, you don't have to look far to realize there just isn't much truth in this. In fact, look at Lincoln's Inaugural Address where Lincoln actually talks about supporting a Constitutional Amendment that makes slavery permanent. Oh yeah, it's in there.

I understand a proposed amendment to the Constitution—which amendment, however, I have not seen—has passed Congress, to the effect that the Federal Government shall never interfere with the domestic institutions of the States, including that of persons held to service. To avoid misconstruction of what I have said, I depart from my purpose not to speak of particular amendments so far as to say that, holding such a provision to now be implied constitutional law, I have no objection to its being made express and irrevocable.

Or perhaps Republic High School's history teachers don't teach the Confederate States Constitution actually banned the importation of slaves into Southern States.

The importation of negroes of the African race from any foreign country other than the slaveholding States or Territories of the United States of America, is hereby forbidden; and Congress is required to pass such laws as shall effectually prevent the same.

In other words, no slave ship ever sailed with the Confederate Flag sailing above it. That hasn't stopped Republic High School in Republic, Missouri from telling one student their truck is banned from school property if they choose to continue to fly the Confederate Flag. Something tells me Republic High School needs to worry about being historically correct and worry less about being politically correct.

Riley Collier loves flying the flag in the back of his pickup -- the Confederate flag.

"Just trying to express myself; it's just like bumper stickers or anything of that nature," said Collier.

He ran into a big problem, though, when he took it on his school grounds. Collier said school officials warned him to stop flying Ole Dixie.

"They said they could view the flag from inside the building, so it was a distraction to students apparently," said Collier.

So he took it down, but continued to fly it to and from Republic High School. In response, the school suspended Collier's driving privileges for 30 days.

"It would be easier and it would pacify them, but I just don't see why I should," said Collier.

When he earned his driving privileges back, his flag came back and that led to his second driving suspension.

Collier has the support of his dad.

"To my knowledge there's nothing in any of the school handbooks that says you can't do it," said Gene Collier.

"We don't articulate every rule and regulation; no school district could do that. We don't have the manpower, time, hours, energy to do all that," said Republic School District Superintendent Vern Minor.

While Minor can't talk about this specific situation because the law prohibits school leaders from commenting on students, Riley's father has plenty to say about the flag flap.

"Maybe as a parent I should have said no, but I didn't because I know Riley is trying to be someone, he's trying to get his own self-esteem and everything, and I didn't see him doing no wrong flying the confederate flag," said Gene Collier.

Others did see something wrong with it. Collier said school officials told him they wanted the banner put away because some people were offended.

Perhaps, if Republic High School and other public school systems actually taught history, then perhaps people would not be offended. It's not hard to search for facts and realize the North was imposing unfair taxes upon the South when the South seceded. So Northern troops went marching South to the blasphemous tune of Battle Hymn of the Republic claiming they had God's blessing and were morally superior. They weren't, not even close.

For in Lincoln's letter to Horace Greeley we find out the truth about why Lincoln has the blood of 600,000 Americans on his hands. It was neither to free the slaves or maintain the union. It was a pure attack on the 10th Amendment.

I would save the Union. I would save it the shortest way under the Constitution. The sooner the national authority can be restored; the nearer the Union will be "the Union as it was." If there be those who would not save the Union, unless they could at the same time save slavery, I do not agree with them. If there be those who would not save the Union unless they could at the same time destroy slavery, I do not agree with them. My paramount object in this struggle is to save the Union, and is not either to save or to destroy slavery.

Of course there was nothing Constitutional about sending troops to South Carolina to intimidate the South into war. Secession after all is a responsibility of the states to keep the federal government in check.

I say Riley Collier has done no wrong. Let him proudly fly his flag, and I hope more Republic High School students will come to his defense and fly the Rebel Flag too.

Unfortunately the school doesn't think so. The first driving suspension lasted thirty days, and after the thirty days, the flag came back as did the suspension. Collier is right. The flag has nothing to do with racism.

Distorted Perceptions: SuperPACs and Their Influence on the "Aware" Public (and What You Can Do to Fight It)

People have this primitive interest in conflict. It's embedded into everyone's and every animal's psyche. All animals duke it out for mates. People do this as well, even though we are civilized and more advanced. Battlefields are everywhere. The fields, forests, and deserts of the physical world, and the language used in the intellectual world.

Like war past the Renaissance time period, the intellectual battles of today follow certain rules and guidelines. Debates are supposedly structured so that everyone gets an equal amount of time and equal opportunity to rebuttal. A more ruthless arena is the field of "public perception". This war is fought with selective information and members of society that have great influence speaking for other people in society that have great influence. Like debates, there are certain rules that the participants must abide by; however, that's only for credibility's sake. No one is stopping others from going out and just ruthlessly bashing somebody else for supporting something. You do that though, and your credibility goes nowhere but down. Cliched example, the dude who yelled "fire" in a movie theater when there was no fire. Not only did he get people killed, but nobody ever listened to him again. Candidates for the US President must abide by general unwritten guidelines too, including dressing nice no matter what the appearance, speaking eloquently, and keeping your jabs at others short and poignant, except for debates.

There seems to be a disturbing trend forming in the intellectual battlefields however; and that trend is the SuperPAC. Stephen Colbert is doing a great job at pointing out the trends, including; but not limited to, deferred foreclosure of donations. The worst thing though is they have no credibility right out of the gate. SuperPACs can be formed at a whim, take millions of dollars, and use those donations to make just the most nasty, slanted, propagandized material this side of the early twentieth century. Seriously! There is supposed to be no formal link between presidential candidates and SuperPACs (and Campaign for Liberty supporters/members will make a VERY CLEAR delineation of this; to the point that Campaign for Liberty material being published with candidate material is frowned upon), but you can't help but get this intrinsic feeling that at the highest levels; there has to be some connection. This supposed non-connection can be twisted and used in ways that are dangerous to public perception. For one, presidential candidates do NOT have to approve anything a SuperPAC comes out with; since there's that separation. Also, SuperPACs are NOT subject to the donation limits that campaigns are, because they're not tied to the candidate. This means anyone (including corporations) can give anything. The trend is the SuperPAC with the biggest number in the checkbook usually winds up having the most public influence. Gingrich got mad after Romney's SuperPAC slammed him. It was a well-timed attack too; just before the Iowa Caucus. As a result, Gingrich lost a fair percentage of votes from Iowa pre-Caucus to the final results (writer's note: I think this is a great thing), link will be updated when I can find concrete numbers.

Solution:

The solution is rather simple, and one I'm sure you heard repeated time and time again; from your friends to that crazy old guy that used to be on Fox News. Look at the issues. Look to principle. Don't get caught up in the attacks. Don't stay fixated on how one candidate can just absolutely smash on another one. Look at each candidate's history and cast your vote for the one that represents the stances you take on various societal issues. It really is that simple. This solution has two effects. One; your vote is more honest. If your views are reflected the most accurately by that whack-job Libertarian in the ten-gallon hat, scribble his name down! This destroys the concept of a wasted vote, as you voted on principle. Two; how do you get bullies to stop bullying you? You either fight back, or ignore them. These SuperPACs, just like bullies, are looking for a reaction. Don't give it to them! Nothing would be more insulting than a group of people spending millions to get absolutely no reaction.

Congressman Billy Long told Southwest Missouri he was fed up. Then he went to Washington and failed to come up with meaningful spending cuts, co-sponsored bills to grow the Department of Homeland Security, voted to fund one of the most fraudulent law suits against the federal government known as Pigford, voted for the Fourth Amendment kolling Patriot Act, the National Defense Authorization Act with it's indefinite detainment language, and of course the debt ceiling increase of $2.4 trillion. Yes, this isn't what Southwest Missouri bought into when they sent the smack talking auctioneer to Congress.

Now, as predicted, Billy Long is making excuses as challengers are now announcing within the ranks of the GOP they will challenge Long in the primary. We knew Long would say the job is much harder than he expected and that he is just getting his feet wet. That's exactly what he wrote in the Politico.

The voters of Southwest Missouri sent me to Washington because I was fed up.

I was fed up with out-of-control spending and an out-of-touch Washington. Fed up with the way Washington works and the poor results that it keeps churning out, year after year, no matter who’s elected. Fed up with more spending, more bailouts and more carelessness by our officials, elected to serve the country, not protect their reelection chances.

The American people are tired of the policies that are destroying our economy, redistributing our wealth and adding to the debt that our children and grandchildren will have to pay. It recently started with the Troubled Asset Relief Program, then the economic stimulus package, then “Obamacare.” All are big expensive programs that few wanted and no one had any idea how to pay for — just more expenses to put on the country’s credit card. For years, the debt ceiling was raised without so much as a whimper.

Long says Americans are sick of policies that are destroying this country fresh from his vote for automatic debt ceiling increases that will take place without a vote of Congress. In other words, Billy Long is voting for policies that are destroying this country while saying he above that.

Then there is the anger over TARP. However, Congressman Long continues to endorse TARP supporting politicians like Roy Blunt and Mitt Romney. How much change for the better does Congressman Long really want when he chooses to endorse the same people supporting the polices he curses?

I’m not a politician. I’m a former small businessman of 30 years and a former morning talk show host. I’ve signed the fronts of paychecks all my life and had never run for political office. Many of my colleagues in the freshman class of 2010 share my background. They’re small-business owners, doctors, nurses and car salesmen, pizza shop owners and exterminators — just regular people who decided they needed to get involved in politics to change the direction of our nation. Like the Founding Fathers, they want to serve their country, then go home to live under the laws they helped create.

Billy Long is not a politician? While Nancy Pelosi was reading the Constitution on the House floor, Billy Long was absent meeting with a lobbyist. Then the first bill Long introduces on the House floor isn't anything that sends a message to Washington he is fed up. No, it's political payback for a $5000 campaign contribution from the National Auctioneer Society.

I came into office on a wave of public approval for the ideas that I ran on: smaller government, lower taxes and more liberty. We had a mandate to control spending. Unfortunately, I think everyone, including myself, underestimated how dysfunctional our government has become.

I might have run as the fed-up candidate, but I was hopeful that, with a little bit of wit and will, common sense could prevail. But the realities of not having a Republican-controlled Senate or White House slapped me in the face. Most politicians care more about getting reelected than about doing the right thing. Sadly, even among the core group that does want to accomplish real change, folks all too often end up in a circular firing squad attacking each other, rather than taking aim at the politicians who jealously guard the broken system that benefits them.

Given my business background, I was shocked to learn that there are many members of Congress, mostly in the Senate, who don’t even support having a budget. A business can’t run successfully without a budget to keep track of revenue and expenses. Refusing to even operate under a budget is a powerful symbol of the “money-is-no-object” attitude that still runs Washington. As the old saying goes, common sense isn’t common, at least not in Washington.

Yes Congressman Long, you had a mandate to control spending, but passing funding for Dale Earnhardt Jr's National Guard Chevrolet was more important than making serious cuts. That's right Congressman Long, you voted to put stickers on stock cars which has cost taxpayers over $100 million over the last decade, and you want us to believe you are still fed up?

Big-spending politicians are at least clever. They’re clever enough not to operate under a budget because they don’t want to put their agendas down on paper for everyone to see.

With a new majority in the House and the backing of the public, I thought we could start making some much needed reforms. I quickly realized, however, that Harry Reid’s Senate was going to stand in the way of the House and the public. We passed dozens of bills — 28 on creating new jobs alone — but the Senate did nothing.

Oh yeah Billy, it's all Harry Reid's fault. Looking back at the HR1 debate last year with Republicans in the majority of the House, the John Boehner led Congress couldn't even deliver $100 billion in spending cuts that you promised. Rather than admit the the people of southwest Missouri you had failed, you went to the microphone in Larry the Cable Guy fashion telling us you got it done. In the end you didn't even get a third of the cuts you promised Congressman Long, because you were too busy thinking cutting things like NASCAR sponsorship would be irresponsible.

I felt terrible each week as I made the trip back to Southwest Missouri with nothing to report but more roadblocks from the Senate. The White House, of course, could have intervened with its Senate allies to get things moving, but President Barack Obama is just as worried about getting reelected and just as happy to stop the progress of the House.

When it comes to bad economic ideas the president is like the last fellow sitting at the table, but it’s the American people who are stuck with the bill.

Not to be too depressing, we have made a lot of progress. House Republicans and the wave of freshman Republicans were able to change the conversation in the country. Before I got here, the question was, “How much taxpayer money can we spend?” Now the question is, “How much can we cut?”

Overall, I’ve learned that changing the way things are done in a fundamentally flawed Congress isn’t easy. Democracy is inherently messy. But as a wiser second-year congressman, I know that I must work even harder if anything is going to change.

It’s tough being away from my family, friends and neighbors back home, but I know I’m serving them by trying to do the right things for the right reasons every single day. I’m honored and humbled to be able to do this service for my community and my country. And I look forward to the difference I can make in 2012.

Mr. Long look at your record. You oppose the Constitution supporting the Patriot Act and indefinite detainment of Americans without due process. You voted for a debt ceiling bill that removes the burden of Congress to ever face the American people again with another debt ceiling vote. You failed in coming up with meaningful spending cuts to present to the Senate. You co-sponsored more big intrusive government through expansion the Department of Homeland Security. You agreed to give billions of dollars away in the Pigford lawsuit.

So perhaps it is your decisions in Washington that should make you feel terrible, and rather promise that you are going to make a difference in 2012, why don't you come back home and do what you do best--auctioneer. Your record contradicts your rallying cry for reelection. You aren't going to be able to hide from it this year, and considering the $2.4 trillion more in debt you voted for and all that is going to come after that thanks to automatic debt ceiling increases, you really have not done any of us any favors Mr. Long.

If There Was a Military Draft, Would Americans Still View Ron Paul's Foreign Policy as Crazy?

Tense times, America has been at war for over ten years. Recruiting numbers are down. Little Johnny is a couple weeks graduated from high school--good looking kid, start quarterback, high school sweetheart by his side. His life is in front of him were the messages of high school graduation--so much to look forward to.

Then one day Johnny heads to the mailbox. Three months ago he registered and now his number had been pulled. Young Johnny must report for his military physical in two weeks--no debates, no freedom. He is required or face the consequences of dodging the draft.

So young Johnny kisses his girl goodbye, and with pseudo courage he's off the basic training--not as a volunteered but forced against his will by a country that claims we are free. Johnny's girl cries every night, his mom's a mess, and his dad shares an ounce of that same courage--proud.

Johnny gets his orders--front line infantry. Soon he finds himself in the middle of a firefight, his battle buddies, drafted too bloodied and dead all around him. In a war started with the fear of weapons of mass destruction where none were found, Johnny runs for cover as a grenade from the enemy is launched at his position. A flash of light, and Johnny's mom gets a visit from two men dressed in green with a note from the Department of Defense. We are sorry...

This day could come as America creates more war in the Middle East, just like it came for hundreds of thousands of other American boys. More unconstitutional power by the EPA: no dream house for you! Agenda 21 is quickly coming to the United States, and we are now seeing instances where the federal government is keeping people from building their dream house on their own land.

Fox News reports:

Since 2007, Mike and Chantell Sackett have been fighting to build their dream home on the Idaho lot they bought years ago. The Sacketts say they had gotten local permits and spent thousands prepping the land for construction - then the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) showed up.

The EPA told the Sacketts their property contained wetlands and issued a compliance order mandating that they return it to its original state or risk facing fines starting at $37,500 per day.

The Sacketts say they were stunned, and asked the EPA for a hearing on the matter. The agency denied their request, so the Sacketts decided to file a lawsuit. The EPA has argued that the agency is equipped to handle complaints like the Sacketts through administrative procedures, and that landowners have no constitutional right to proceed from a compliance order directly into federal court.

This is straight out of the Agenda 21 playbook. More and more Americans will soon find out they don't have any rights to the property they own to enjoy it and live on it as the EPA presence will be seen on private property all over the country, and of course there is no Constitutional authority. This is tyranny--plain and simple.
