Michelle Obama to Visit Springfield, MO Walmart
Attention Walmart shoppers, Michelle Obama will soon be polluting the aisles at a Springfield, Missouri, Walmart. Isn't this interesting as the city debates whether or not to support local jobs like those provided by Price Cutter or allow another Walmart neighborhood market within the city limits? I am not saying the two are connected, but it is interesting timing.
Let's look at the First Lady's coming visit to Springfield. She is going to spend our tax dollars to visit a Springfield Walmart. Isn't there a closer Walmart that she can visit near Washington, DC, that doesn't require taxpayers to pay for the costly flight costs to get Michelle Obama to Springfield?
Then of course there is the issue of local jobs. Walmart of course has been an enabler of American jobs headed to China as they dictate prices to the manufacturers to meet Walmart's project prices on the shelves. Why doesn't Michelle Obama visit some place in Springfield that is creating local jobs rather than a place known for creating jobs in China? Oh sure, Walmart does create American jobs, but if you look at the Walmart manufacturing mentality, they have been part of the great job exodus in the United States.
I think Michelle Obama's Springfield photo op needs to be examined with great scrutiny. Of course it won't in the press. The local media will drool over her arrival rather than look at the truth.
