Thelma and Louise the Sequel: Obama and Geithner
Timothy Geithner is threatening America with a Thelma and Louise promise. If Republicans don't help Obama raise taxes, Obama and Geithner is going to drive the country over the fiscal cliff.
Treasury Secretary Timothy Geither told CNBC Wednesday that Republicans are "making a little bit of progress" in "fiscal cliff" talks but said the Obama administration was "absolutely" ready to go over the cliff if the GOP doesn't agree to raise tax rates on the wealthy.
"I think they're making a little bit of progress," Geithner said. "They're clearly moving and figuring out how to try to move further."
But Geithner said the White House would "absolutely" go over the fiscal cliff — triggering over $600 billion in automatic spending cuts and tax increases — unless tax rates increase on the top 2 percent of wage earners.
Let's see, Geithner has overseen three rounds of quantitative easing (printing trillions more in worthless paper devaluing the the paper all of us trade hours at a job in exchange for) while helping guide Congress to create $6 trillion more in debt in less than four years (keep in mind the national debt was an astonishing $10 trillion) when Obama took over four years ago. You mean you haven't already followed Thelma and Louise off the cliff Mr. Geithner, because it sure appears that way to me as the economy is still sick after spending our way to Obama's brand of prosperity.
