Hobby Lobby, Obamacare, and the Eighth Amendment
David Green is the CEO of the Christian based companies Hobby Lobby and Mardel Christian books. He is also battling the Obama administration as the federal government begins punishing Green for not complying with Obamacare.
Green says he has religious freedom in the United States and Obamacare infringes upon his religious beliefs by forcing his companies to cover the controversial abortion pill, RU486. Green soon found himself in federal court quickly realizing that America is no longer a free country.
The federal overlords using the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals determined Green is guilty of not complying with the federal Obamacare law; therefore, he must be punished for the good of all his other citizens. Have you seen the punishment?
As long as Green fights the Obamacare law and refuses to comply with the new healthcare law, his companies will be fined $1.3 million dollars a day. Let me repeat that. This Oklahoma City based company--out of a red state who clearly voted against Obama--will face $1.3 million in fines per day if they don't comply with the emergency contraception mandates in the Obamacare law.
I am sitting here scratching my head asking what about Green's Constitutional rights. Not only is the federal government challenging his religious beliefs, they are also imposing outrageous fines on Mr. Green. Let me remind the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals what the Eighth Amendment states.
Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.
No excessive fines imposed...
Doesn't $1.3 million a day for not complying with Obamacare because it conflicts with your religious beliefs seem excessive?
It does to me.

Such a said day in our country. Why can churches, other religious organization, and some businesses be exempt, but not Hobby Lobby? It does not make any sense.
