Bruce Springsteen, War, and Obama: "Blind faith in your leaders, or in anything, will get you killed"
All Barack Obama had to say was chemical weapons. Flashback of ten years ago as George W. Bush built up the war against Iraq using WMDs like chemical weapons. Yes the same story line is playing out.
After nearly eight years of war, Bruce Springsteen dedicated a song to George W. Bush on his E-Street Radio station is SirusXM. (language alert)
I am reminded of Bruce's glory days when fans stood in lines for hours to get his live concert box set. You may remember one of the singles from that box set was the cover song "War".
In the introduction of that song, the Boss begins talking about facing Vietnam as a teenager. He then directs it to the year 1985, which he states "blind faith in your leaders will get you killed".
Now lets move foward to the final days of 2012. Springsteen was frequently seen on the campaign trail campaigning for Obama, who didn't live up to this promise he made in October 2007.
Rather, Obama is sounding a lot like George W. Bush telling Americans Syria has weapons of mass destruction ready to use, of course without providing much proof, as justification for war rhetoric is on the increase. I just wonder if Bruce Springsteen has the courage to declare that "blind faith in Barack Obama in 2013 will get you killed."
Probably not.
He'd probably like to continue the illusion that Obama is different from those who came before strumming the guitar to "The Rising" while saluting the latest king/emperor.
Nah, Bruce Springsteen won't remind Americans that blind faith in Barack Obama's claim of WMD's might get you killed.
