How Republicans Lost the Sure Thing Presidency in 2012

Obama should have been easily beat. Here are three reasons he wasn't:


1. John Boehner's backroom deals led to the largest debt ceiling increase in American history and removed the debt discussion from the debate while empowering Obama. All the while, John Boehner's Congress seemed determined to increase Obama's power through bills like the NDAA.

2. Republicans nominated a gun grabbing, Obamacare inspiring, failed liberal governor of Massachusetts as their candidate. The Romney record is Obamaesque big government and there was little to differentiate these two men.

3. Republicans alienated Constitutional conservative voters in the process of nominating Mitt Romney insulting them as crazy libertarians forgetting that Ronald Reagan himself said "libertarianism is the heart of conservatism". The Republican party was and is divided and it lacks a true identity.
