Lance Armstrong Headed Towards the Poor House: Nike Drops Armstrong

The yellow Livestrong bracelets were symbolic of the strong relationship between Nike and Lance Armstrong. Their relationship, a deep relationship where as other sponsors were dropping off the map as Armstrong fought cancer, Nike stood by Lance, is now over. Nike announced it will not stand behind Armstrong after Armstrong allegations against Armstrong makes it appear Armstrong never raced cleanly.

Nike issued the following statement:

“Due to the seemingly insurmountable evidence that Lance Armstrong participated in doping and misled Nike for more than a decade, it is with great sadness that we have terminated our contract with him. Nike does not condone the use of illegal performance enhancing drugs in any manner. Nike plans to continue support of the Livestrong initiatives created to unite, inspire and empower people affected by cancer.”
