Blame the Republicans for the Coming November Defeats
As the electoral map looks more like an impossibility for Romney as Obama pulls to his biggest lead in Ohio, there's going to be a time when the Republican party wishes it was kinder to Todd Akin. If Romney goes into the final months trailing and losing in critical swing states, Republicans are going to have reexamine where they spend their money and look to winning Congress in order to keep Obama in check (I say that lightly noting Republicans just voted for another $1.047 debt ceiling increase that will fund the government for five months while funding Obamacare, Planned Parenthood, and even contraception mandates).
In winning Congress, it may turn out the Republicans turn on Todd Akin may be the thing that keeps the Senate in the hands of the Democrats. Remember, they pulled funding almost immediately on Akin, which probably means six more years of Claire Mamma Caskill (McCaskill). We are now seeing the results of the GOP's game with Akin and Congress.
KOMU reports:
Republican senatorial candidate Todd Akin's latest round of political ads have been pulled from the airwaves of KOMU 8 and other Missouri TV stations due to a lack of payment as of Thursday.
Akin's camp placed an ad buy that was supposed to run in full through this week.
Standard procedure dictates that political ads must be paid in full before ads will run, but KOMU 8 received half of the payment for the Akin ads and ran half of the ad buy.
When KOMU 8 did not receive the rest of the money in time for the rest of the ad cycle, it pulled the ads.
The ads weren't cancelled by the Akin camp.
KOMU 8 spoke with various television stations in St. Louis, Kansas City, and Columbia, and heard a similar story from each.
Sarah Mcadoo, an accounting assistant for KSHB-TV in Kansas City, confirmed that Akin's ads had been pulled from their log for today and tomorrow.
While there is some debate going on about the KOMU story, as it now appears it was written by a Democratic operative, Akin is definitely feeling the pinch of the pulled funds while McCaskill benefits. Akin has come out swinging against KOMU. Still you can't ignore the Republican establishment hasn't been kind to Akin.
So in a year where the Republican party should have won big considering the mess the country is in, the leadership within the Republican ranks continues to baffle me. From coronating the liberal Mitt Romney to lead the party in hopes of regaining the White House despite Romney himself being the inspiration for Obamacare (Romneycare became Obamacare) to pulling funds out of Missouri for Todd Akin where Claire McCaskill is beatable, it just seems the Republican party knows how to beat itself.
