Paul Ryan's Attacks on Obama's Defense Cuts Needs to Be Checked

Paul Ryan's budget once held needed defense cuts. I mean when you spend nearly 50 cents of ever dollar spent in the world on military expenditures, there is obviously room to cut. Mitt Romney wants to spend more, so the Ryan military cuts have disappeared from the Ryan budget, which Romney rejected and then flip flopped on and made his own.

On the campaign trail, Ryan his hammering Obama on spending cuts that will hit the Pentagon in January. As mentioned before, the Ryan budget once had similar spending cuts.

The Washington Post writes:

As introduced in 2010, Ryan’s “Roadmap for America’s Future” would have created “a mechanism to automatically slow the growth in faster-spending entitlement programs” by requiring the White House budget office “to make across-the-board spending reductions in both mandatory and discretionary programs” if overall federal spending breached specified limits.

The Defense Department would have been a target for cuts, House Budget Committee aides confirmed Monday, though the impact would have been limited to 1 percent of any agency’s budget.

Of course, knowing the Ryan budget doesn't balance the budget until 2040 and Obama will never come close to cutting spending significantly, none of these cuts are worth getting too excited about. Any spending cuts Obama creates for military will go to fund social programs. This election really is about who gets control of the $3 trillion plus per year spending fiasco, the welfare party or the warfare party.
