P90X Box Gives Hints if it's a Chinese Counterfiet
I recently ordered a used copy of P90X on Amazon.com. I ordered it on August 13, and it didn't show up in the mail until September 14, long after the promise posted on the Amazon.com. I was surprised when I discovered I had to sign customs forms for my order. The package originated in China. My suspicions instantly went up.
This should be your first clue that your P90X purchased on Amazon, Ebay, or Craigslist is counterfeit. Last week, I took a look at the actual product inside the box to show you how to tell if your P90X product is a counterfeit. This week, we are going to look at the box which is a dead giveaway.
First off, notice the size of the box from P90X2, which I ordered directly from Beachbody compared to the smaller P90X counterfeit box. Beachbody states their boxes will be the size of notebook paper with looking down upon the top of the box. The counterfeit product from China is quite a bit smaller.
When you open the box, there will be a full color graphic in the box. The quality of the image is far less superior over that of a legitimate Beachbody product. The P90X2 box features a glossy image with instructions on "how to bring it". The inner graphic in the P90X Chinese counterfeit is far less shiny.
If I had just taken a closer look at the text in the inner packaging, I would have saved calls from P90X and Internet searches trying to find out if I was sent a legitimate P90X product. Interestingly enough, Beachbody uses a foreign call center to receive P90X orders over the phone, and the call center didn't seem very interested in knowing that I had a counterfeit product. They assured me that my product was legitimate despite my accurate descriptions over the phone that should have been a dead giveaway.
I look at the text in the box shows the carelessness of the counterfeiters.
Notice the bullet point Live Access. Notice the errors?
Live Accessto and Tony Horon. The P90X trainer's name is Tony Horton, not Tony Horon. It also states Horon will be there every step of the way with VIP chatsm tips. I don't know what chatsm is but it is coming up as a misspelled word as I type this. That's a dead giveaway.
Chinese counterfeiting is costing hard-working Americans billions of dollars every year. If you receive something like this on Amazon or Ebay, please report it.
