Lance Armstrong Hate Going Too Far: Chicago Marathon Bans Lance
Chicago was the city that celebrated Sammy Sosa. Sosa was a little guy when he played for the Rangers.
By the time Sosa got to the Cubs his appearance and physique changed drastically.
Despite all the rumors and even a positive test for steroids in 2003, Chicago embraced Sosa as one of their home run kings.
We are learning that Lance Armstrong, who to this date has seen no real evidence of any positive test proving he used performance enhancing drugs has been banned from the Chicago marathon. The seven-time Tour de France champion planned to run the race to raise awareness for cancer survival rather than to compete for any kind of victory other than that of over cancer.
Have we lost lost our marbles? Lance Armstrong is running a different race these days. He doesn't have the pressures of the team owners to ride at a level. He is running a race to better the human race, and for some reason this disqualifies him running 26 miles in a race where he will be lucky to get a top 50 finish in. Lance is talented but he is also turning 41 in two days.
Lance has been tested 500 times and never failed a drug test. Never. Last month, tired of the allegations, he just said enough is enough.
“Unlike many of my accusers, I have competed as an endurance athlete for 25 years with no spike in performance, passed more than 500 drug tests and never failed one,” Armstrong said on his website. “That USADA ignores this fundamental distinction and charges me instead of the admitted dopers says far more about USADA, its lack of fairness and this vendetta than it does about my guilt or innocence.”
Funny how some people put politics before good deeds even when it comes to sports.

Bill, a positive test is not needed to prove doping. Beyond that, Armstrong was charged with a litany of offenses that have nothing to do with drug tests: conspiracy, possession, trafficking, administering, encouraging others to use. That is where eyewitness testimony comes in.
ReplyDeleteHe was never found guilty and the federal government gave up their case against Armstrong.
