Paul Ryan Defends Socialized Medicine on the Campaign Trail
Don't you worry. Paul Ryan is going to make sure the Republicans continue the ponzi scheme called Medicare. What amazes me about Ryan's recent speech in Florida is how he defends one socialized medicine plan to attack the other socialized medicine plan inspired by Mitt Romney and the Heritage Foundation that we now call Obamacare.
Ryan took the stage in The Villages with his mother Betty Ryan Douglas, 78, while Romney scheduled a series of fundraisers in Massachusetts. The Wisconsin congressman said he saw Medicare's benefits firsthand as a child when his grandmother, with Alzheimer's, moved in with his family.
"My mom and I were her two primary caregivers," Ryan said before shifting to his mother and the promise of Medicare for her.
"She planned her retirement around this promise," Ryan said. "That's a promise we have to keep."
"It's not just a program," he added. "It's what my mom relies on."
He accused Obama of undermining Medicare by cutting billions from the program to devote to expanded coverage under his health care law, and asserted: "We want this debate. We need this debate. And we are going to win this debate.
That's right, in the era of big government where Tea Party anger will affect the outcome of this election, the Romney campaign is out defending big government over bigger government. It's look what Obama is going to give you and look what Romney/Paul is going to give you.
And you want to know why I don't believe in Mitt Romney? They just don't get it. Medicare is socialized medicine and big government, and it's broken. Romney's camp promotes one entitlement while attacking the other. Why can't we just phase out of these entitlements that are breaking our country?
In Pennsylvania, Ryan was out defending one socialized, big government healthcare plan while attacking the other. "What [Democrats] won't tell you is that they took Medicare and turned it into a piggy bank to pay for Obamacare," Ryan said. "The next time you hear from President Obama, tell him to keep his hands off Medicare."
This is what Romney/Ryan stands for. Maintain the status quo big government in Washington. Of course Ryan's voting record includes supporting Medicare Part D, which added another $16 trillion in unfunded liabilities.
