Why isn't 75% of Americans Tired of War Mean a Mandate for Ron Paul

CNN has a new poll out. Americans are tired of war. Only 25% of Americans now support the endless war in Afghanistan, the graveyard of armies.

The war has dragged on and there appears to be no winnable solution to the war, and yet more Americans come home in boxes, more of your tax dollars get wasted in the desert, and the politicians continue to tell us it's getting better as soldiers write it's not. In fact, they write it's a mess. One soldier writes it's an "absence of success on every level".

For over a decade, America has tried to push democracy at gunpoint, and even it's relationship with its handpicked leader Hamid Karzai is under great strain.

Just 37% of the general public said things are going well for the U.S. in Afghanistan, while only 34% said America is winning the war. The approval likely contributed to the 55% of those surveyed who said the U.S. should remove all of its troops from the country before 2014.

Twenty-two percent expressed support for the 2014 timetable and an additional 22% said the U.S. should keep some troops in Afghanistan beyond 2014.

We know Barack Obama promised the first thing he would do as president would be end these wars.

Of course Obama lied and escalated the wars. There is a candidate who is serious about ending America's wars. Only Ron Paul understand the Constitutional use of our military. He understands that aggression is not working in the Middle East as America is wrapped up in endless wars that are driving up the national debt. Only Ron Paul would end these wars, examine how US foreign policy continues to fail, and look to the founding fathers for wisdom on foreign policy.

So why isn't this adding up for votes? It's not like people aren't getting the message. Ron Paul continues to attract the largest crowds of any candidate this year, and as the press has written him off, he still attracted over 5200 in Wisconsin this week.

Ron Paul is the only candidate not beating the war drum. It is likely that Obama himself may lead us into the next war against Iran, despite there being no clear evidence Iran has WMDS. Iran hasn't invaded another country in over 150 years either.

So, the perplexity of the American voter is on display. Tired of war and one man is willing to look to peace as a solution by reexamining why we have become a society that embraces war. Only 25% claim they support the current war effort. So what am I missing here?
