What Are The Privileges of Being an American, Mr. Geithner?

With a Republican House sent to Washington to control spending, we are learning they aren't delivering. It appears since Republicans helped pass the largest debt ceiling in history, thanks to self-described Tea Party turncoats like Congressman Billy Long, we are quickly racing towards another debt ceiling increase that should have many of these politicians shaking in the boots, or cowboy boots in the case of Congressman Long. The largest debt ceiling increase in history may be matched just before November, which means this Congress would have committed to $2.4 trillion in deficit spending in about a year's time. Way to go Republicans!

Analysts from the Bipartisan Policy Center projected that the United States will hit its $16.4 trillion debt ceiling between late November 2012 and early January 2013.

So Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner is making the rounds with a soundbite that clearly upsets me.

"That’s the kind of balance you need," said Geithner. "Why is that the case? Because if you don't try to generate more revenues through tax reform, if you don't ask, you know, the most fortunate Americans to bear a slightly larger burden of the privilege of being an American, then you have to -- the only way to achieve fiscal sustainability is through unacceptably deep cuts in benefits for middle class seniors, or unacceptably deep cuts in national security."

So now the federal government is a privilege generator in this game of class warfare they play to keep the country divided. And what are these privileges Mr. Geithner?

Reading the founding documents, I don't see where any of the founding fathers described the federal government as creating privileges. Yet our founding documents do extend certain unalienable rights granted by God and among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, which of course people like Giethner are destroying as their policies create more debt, make the dollars we make worth less, and of course infringe of our God given rights.

The federal government was never set up to create privileges. It was set up to keep government out of the way so Americans could create their own privileges by limiting the power of government.
