Mitt Romney's Bain Capital Controls Conservative Talk Radio: Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck
You know, I have lost a lot of respect for Michael Savage these past few weeks. I really didn't think he was part of the conservative talk radio mafia controlled by the establishment, but I guess I was wrong.
I always saw Savage as a free thinker, never fearing controversy to make a point. Then I started hearing him endorse Mitt Romney, claiming Romney was the only candidate who could beat Obama while ignoring Romney's liberal record on gun control, abortion, taxes, big government spending, and of course Romneycare (Obamacare). Savage went as far as pulling an on-air stunt offering Newt Gingrich, another deceitful politician claiming to be a conservative while posting a liberal record, a million dollars to drop out of the race.
Now I may be learning why Savage has bowed down to Romney. It appears Romney owns Michael Savage--literally.
It turns out Bain Capital, the company Mitt Romney built owns a large portion of Clear Channel.
On November 16, 2006, Clear Channel announced plans to go private, being bought out by two private-equity firms, Thomas H. Lee Partners and Bain Capital Partners for $18.7 billion, which is just under a 10 percent premium above its closing price of $35.36 a share on November 16 (the deal values Clear Channel at $37.60 per share).
Clear Channel is the radio giant that continues to buy up stations across the United States leaving little variation in radio these days. It's one of the main reasons my radio in my car is played. Clear Channel owns 850 stations in the United States, more than any other company. We know whose shows are licensed to play on Clear Channel's stations--Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and of course Michael Savage.
Is this the reason Mitt Romney's liberal record isn't being vetted by conservative talk radio? You have to wonder.
