Maryland Governor Says Republicans Should Return to the Party of Lincoln (The Party of Progressives)

The idea the Republican party's roots are based deep in conservatism is a total misrepresentation of history. As Republicans court the most liberal Republican in a while, Mitt Romney, it's important to look at the rise of the Republican party, which was based in anti-Constitutional, progressive, big government, walk all over you politics. Abraham Lincoln was no conservative.

Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley says it's time the Republican party moves back to its progressive roots.

"It'd be nice to see that 'party of Lincoln' emerge again, instead of this extreme right control that they submit themselves to in their own primaries."

The Rockefeller Republicans are coming out again just like George Romney in did 1964 in his intraparty attacks on Barry Goldwater in hopes of killing conservatism once and for all.
