Obama is Scared of Mitt Romney?
I read yesterday where the Obama campaign is saying they are scared of Mitt Romney. I approach these words with caution and you should too. I don't believe for one instance Obama is scared of Romney, and I also believe a Romney nomination guarantees four more years of Barack Obama.
I look at Obama's words as playing the ignorant American electorate, who vote not because they deeply research the issue, but because how someone looks on TV. This has often been the case since the famous Kennedy Nixon debate.
Does it seem logical that someone running for office would actually leak their worst fear? Of course not. It does seem quite logical that you want people to think you are scared of a Romney nomination because the case to beat Romney would be the easiest to present to the American people.
First, Mitt Romney was the liberal governor of Massachusetts. We already know Romney, like John McCain before him, is not energizing the conservative base. Conservatives are desperate to find a candidate to beat Romney, which explains the flavor of the month phenomenon we have seen as candidate after candidate gets vetted. Obama knows Romney doesn't energize the conservative base and there's many good reasons why.
Romney was a staunch supporter of abortion rights.
Romney pushed for socialized healthcare.
Romney supports gun control rights.
Romney grew government.
Romney increased spending.
Romney raised taxes many times in Massachusetts.
You see, conservatives aren't going to energize behind Romney, and I have already stated if Romney is the nominee, I will vote third party--tired of feeling dirty for compromising my conservative ethos for the Republican's move to the left like in 2008 with the moderate Maverick. I would have voted third party that year, but Sarah Palin saved the GOP from even a bigger embarrassment at the polls. I don't do that this year, no matter who Romney picks as his running mate.
I think Obama knows this, which is exactly why he will lead people to believe he is scared of Mitt Romney. Deep down inside, Obama knows Romney is even worse for conservatives than John McCain was.
