So Who Paid for the Royal Wedding Security?: Did the US Invest in Counter Terrorism Efforts?
The cost of the Royal Wedding probably spread across the pond. Obviously, considering the war on global terrorism, the English worked with the United States to ensure the event was unscathed by threats from Al Qaeda. As well, there is the normal security that must be met for an event like this, despite these people really are more figure heads of a tired worn out idea.
So how much will the Royal Wedding cost taxpayers in England? Estimates are an astonishing $163 million dollars. Considering the need to consider terrorist threats, I think Americans should know if we are getting any of that bill thanks to the possible involvement of Homeland Security, the FBI, or the CIA working with British officials.
The above video claims Kate Middleton's family is splitting part of the cost with the Royals of Windsor, but where to the Royals of Windsor get their money from? Isn't royalty subsidized these days in England.
Estimates of the failed marriage of Prince Charles and Lady Dianna were at about $49 million. That's a lot of money considering the tragedy of the marriage, especially if you believe the rumors the Royals of Windsor were behind the Mercedes crashing in the tunnel in Paris known Princess Dianna was preparing to marry a Muslim.
We will probably never know what the exact cost of this wedding was and how much of US money went to aid with security. I think if the United States provided any investment in counter terrorism, the Brits should be footing the bill.

RIDICULOUS. The people of Britain are idiots.
ReplyDeleteHow are the people of Britain idiots. Enough of (my) the taxpayers money is wasted as it is so this makes no difference. I would prefer it to go on the wedding that other things that it does. Also the tourism it has brought has not been mentioned.
ReplyDeleteAs for stating that "the Brits should be footing the bill" for any investment in counter terrorism then that is ridiculous statement to make as the US have already taken upon themselves to police the world!
Stop being so miserable and cheer up...
69 pennies, that`s about a dollar fifteen per year.
ReplyDeleteThats what the monarchy costs me.
In effect i own one fifty millionth of the royal family, and expect them to a bloody good job.
Actually, the British royal family has a great deal of personal wealth in stock portfolios and in their personally-owned estates such as Sandringham. Only the Queen and her husband get paid by the government to undertake their diplomatic duties (which they do to great effect), and although some of her children are also paid for their diplomatic roles, she reimburses Parliament for their wages.
ReplyDeleteAny profits or surpluses made from the Crown Estate are paid directly back to Parliament in return for the money paid to them - Parliament earns much more off the royal family than the royal family earns off them.
Not to mention the tourism they bring to the UK as a whole, the royal family have a reputation of being scroungers from UK taxpayers, which is not true at all. Not only do they not simply take money from Parliament, they pay taxes, and they undertake lifelong diplomatic jobs, with a great deal more dignity than many other countries.
@ "Actually, the British royal family has a great deal of personal wealth in stock portfolios and in their personally-owned estates such as Sandringham... blah, blah, blah"
ReplyDeleteWhatever. You can try to justify it all you like, but you really shouldn't have to--- its a monarch and this is what a Monarchy does, spend the peoples' money and flaunt the fact that you cannot do anything about it. At least the beheading has stopped, yay for that!
