Billy Long Disrespects American Veterans With Campaign Efforts at Memorial Day Event at the Springfield National Cemetery

Some of the most precious land in Springfield is located on the Southwest corner of Glenstone and Seminole. It's where thousands of Missouri veterans are laid to rest--some of old age and others gone too soon--a life given to our country.

I know the cemetery well. Along the North wall rests my grandfather who died in 1979. He was one of the first American boys to fight in Germany--not by orders but by accident. They dropped his platoon in the wrong location and they soon found out they were in Germany learning to survive without the support of the United States Army. In the early days of World War II, my grandfather received a purple heart when a bullet skimmed across his forehead--two inches forward, and I probably wouldn't be telling you this today.

It wasn't all that bad. His platoon found a deserted German brewery, which still had beer inside. They managed to stay drunk as the Army finally figured out their mistake.

I don't know too much more about my grandfather's war stories from the big one in 1941. I was too young, and from what I was told, he didn't talk much about it.

I feel a huge disrespect tonight as a reader who attended the Memorial Day event at the Springfield National Cemetery told me of the disrespect Billy Long and his campaign had for our fallen soldiers. Billy Long couldn't let go of the campaign just for a day. He showed up with his campaign staff, who were Billy Long for Congress t-shirts, and they proceeded to pass out Billy Long for Congress stickers to those who came to honor American veterans today. As if the Drew Brees charity event didn't prove enough embarrassment for Billy Long as Springfield began to realize Long's lack of etiquette, turning a Memorial Day event into a campaign effort shows how little class Billy Long has. I think I have said enough.

Missouri Southern MO 7 Congressional Debate Rules: Don't Bring Your iPhone Billy Long

Billy Long has been giving a variation of the same stump speech for over 15 months. The speech started out with his strong distaste for earmarks and varied along the way to include Mel Hancock's name, as well as any other name he can drop. Given the simplicity of the Billy Long campaign, one would expect him to to be able to answer simple questions without much thought. Stay on message--focus on simplicity.

That wasn't the case during the Ozark Chamber of Commerce Congressional forum held a few weeks ago. Billy Long brought his iPhone to the debate, and as questions were asked, one of Long's assistants text messaged the answers to his iPhone. It was so notable, Democrat Tim Davis went on the record describing Billy Long's political incompetence at the Ozark forum.

So on the eve of the Jasper County 7th District Congressional Candidate Forum, we would like to review the rules with Mr. Long. There will be no cheating Mr. Long. In case you haven't noticed rule #9, it reads:

9. Cell phones will not be allowed in a candidate’s possession during the forum. Candidates have the choice of placing their phone with a family member, campaign manager, or trusted friend so they can be monitored in case an emergency situation arises.

We will be watching Billy. Don't even try it.

Wardell and Wisdom Announce VA Hospital Plan for Springfield

Two Republican candidates for Congress have announced their partnership in the effort to bring a Veterans Administration hospital to Springfield, Missouri. Michael Wardell and Jeff Wisdom sent the following press release:

"With over 80,000 veterans living in the 7th Congressional District, the time has come to make up for the lack of VA medical infrastructure to better serve those who served our country.

Branson has a small clinic in a small office building and the Mt. Vernon Community Based Outpatient Clinic shares space with the Missouri Rehabilitation Center. There is no VA hospital to serve our vets in Springfield and Southwest Missouri. The closest facility is in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

As part of our separate campaign platforms, Jeff and I share a vision for the 7th Congressional District of building a new VA Hospital in Springfield, downsize the Mt. Vernon Facility and move some of the facilities to Joplin, and expand the facilities in Branson as well to provide better transportation between the facilities.

As the War in Iraq winds down and the War in Afghanistan wanes, the number of veterans from all branches of service increases. Our WWII vets are getting up there in age as are the Korean and Vietnam service members. Transportation to and from appointments in Mt. Vernon and Fayetteville and Branson are difficult and the facilities are overworked and suffer from a lack of space.

The money to pay for such a project will come from cutting the requisite amount of money from only one line item:Washington D.C. spends $25 billion annually maintaining unused or vacant federal properties throughout the world. The time is now to serve Southwest Missouri veterans with the care they were promised for defending our country. Joining Michael and Jeff is Barbara Lopez, Barb and her son Josef Lopez are the Authors of First One Home, First One to Survive. Info follows: Michael Wardell is a disabled Marine Veteran, and Jeff serves in the Naval Reserve. Both are running for Roy Blunt's vacated seat in Congress."

Taking care of our veterans is a very important issue. Especially when we have so many tax dollars being wasted. Right now, the taxpayers are paying for veterans to travel to Fayetteville to receive regular treatments and checkups.

Add this project to the list of the other efforts that Wardell and Wisdom are leading to try to improve life in Southwest Missouri (jobs creation, tax relief, etc.) This appears to me to be another example of how these two conservatives are showing the way in this campaign; not by sitting back on their laurels, but by thinking and working out of the box.

Memorial Day 2010

I would like to take this time to thank every veteran, past and present, for your sacrifice, honor, and courage. We owe our gratitude to you.

From before the United States became a United Nation, to the current war against Islamic radical terrorists, the United States military has out performed any other in history. Without each and every member of our armed forces, we would not be the greatest country on earth. Tyranny would govern and rule not only the American people, but the world.

Today we face a different kind of attack. The most dangerous kind, an attack that comes from within. It saddens me to see we currently have an administration that continuously ignores the successes and greatness of the military's work. The liberal majority in Congress and in the White House is threatening the free world more than ever.

It is crucial for not just Missourians, but all Americans to realize the threat of liberalism. We must unite together to elect candidates with strong, conservative principles. It is our duty to expose the candidates that do no stand for the traditions and values our Founding Fathers believed in.

BP Oil Solution

Here is a deep and dark story hidden by the Main Stream Media. British Petroleum has a solution for the massive oil leak that has now lost millions of barrels of crude oil and killed eleven workers on the rig. If the government just let BP fix the problem, it would have been stopped long ago. But the EPA isn't allowing BP use it's solution because the chemical is said to be a potential threat to the environment.

So while Obama and the Democrats in Congress appear to be frustrated with BP not being able to fix the problem, they are the ones preventing the problem from being fixed! Senate Majority WHIP Richard Durbin from Illinois said, "BP, in my mind, no longer stands for British Petroleum, it stands for Beyond Patience. People have been waiting 34 days for British Petroleum to cap this well and stop the damage that's happening across the Gulf of Mexico." If your party let the free market work, this would have been stopped long ago! You won't even allow Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal build a wall of sand.

Billy Long For Congress Sets Up Shop North of Bill Long Auctions in Same Building

For months, the Billy Long campaign for Congress used the Billy Long Auctions offices to conduct campaign business. The problem was they never reported the use of the offices as a corporate in-kind donation for most of last year. Facing an FEC ethic violation against the Tillman Act, the Long campaign began to produce more detailed notes the use of Billy Long Auctions offices in their reports in the last quarter of 2009. It still doesn't take away from the fact, the Long campaign used the Long Auction resources without listing them as a contribution--which is against federal election law.

So it's interesting, the Long campaign, who is now being investigated for possible campaign finances appears to have moved their operations a few doors down to the north in the same strip mall Billy Long Auctions sits in. It this simply convenience for Billy Long, or is this CONVENIENCE for Billy Long in a sense a similar address that possibly varies by an office number or letter may give the Long campaign some wiggle room to get out of trouble?

On Friday, I noticed the office space littered with multiple Billy Long for Congress signs on the window. While there was nothing else suggesting it was Long's new campaign headquarters, it definitely had the appearance of a campaign headquarters.

Curtis Trent, Billy's faithful campaign assistant, parked his small Ford pickup truck further to the north of the parking lot, parallel with the offices with the Billy Long for Congress signs. It definitely appears that Long set up a campaign office, but why there?

After all, that building is hidden by Red Lobster, a failed taco joint, a run-down car wash that's no longer in service, and an auto glass store. Long never likes to do anything without the possibility of it being big and noticed. Why wouldn't he choose a place with more traffic driving by so they could see his signs on the building and be more likely to drop in for a bumper sticker? My bet is, they are covering their tracks for the Federal Election Commission. Still the paper trail may come back to bite him, but from multiple sources who wish to remain anonymous and one who has agreed to go on the record to discuss the unethical manner Billy Long conducts his auction business, Billy's money may buy him the proof he needs to get the FEC off his back.

The History of Memorial Day

Though several states vie for the origination of Memorial Day, Lyndon Johnson designated Waterloo, NY as the birthplace for this honorable day of tribute. In 1866, Waterloo established an annual observance, closing businesses and setting aside a day to lay flowers on the graves of fallen soldiers.

Arlington Cemetery hosted the first official Decoration Day on a warm Spring day in May of 1868. President Ulysses S. Grant presided over approximately 5,000 gathered to remember those who sacrificed their lives in the great conflict between the North and South....

Is Gary Nodler for Congress The Career Politician or the Tea Party Candidate?

- Submitted Anonymously

Gary Nodler made no mistaking who he was last night at the Stone County candidate forum. Nodler stood up for the career politician just a few weeks after he tried to sell himself as a tea party candidate in the documentary Don’t Tread on Me, where Nodler speaks of his efforts to preserve states’ rights. I am confused Senator Nodler? Are you a career politician or a tea party candidate?

During his speech, Nodler compared himself to Abraham Lincoln, not really the “don’t tread on me” president. How can you call yourself a states’ rights champion and identify yourself with Lincoln? Lincoln trampled all over states’ rights for his desire to keep the union together. He never cared about the slavery issue. He only freed the slaves for his own political legacy to cover up the horrible crimes he committed against states’ and personal rights.

Let’s see Senator Nodler, Lincoln arrested his political enemies in Baltimore and held them while denying their Habeas Corpus rights. He also shut down newspapers despite the First Amendment during the Civil War. Most importantly he is responsible for the deaths of nearly a million Americans with his decision to challenge the Southern states that left the union using states rights for justification. Lincoln was no saint when it came to Constitutional government. This makes you ask questions about Nodler’s own personal beliefs. Is he a career politician or a tea party candidate? I guess Nodler is whoever he wants to be depending on who he speaks to.

Troops Won't Aid on Border

When I heard the news that President Obama was sending troops to the border, I knew it was too little and too late, but I was willing to look on the bright side. It reminded me of his "troop surge" when he sent half of the requested amount, 6 months late. Even when I try to see the best in his supposedly centrist decisions, it ends up not what I was expecting.

After outrage from Mexico's President Felipe Calderon, President Obama announced the 1,200 National Guard troops will not aid in nabbing illegal aliens. Instead, they will provide "back office" support. The State Department on Wednesday said the border plan isn't about illegal immigration. It's about stopping the flow of guns and drugs from here into Mexico.

Obama is doing exactly what Calderon requested. Stop the flow of guns and drugs into Mexico. We are sending troops to the border to keep Mexico safer!

Meanwhile, Obama is failing to reform the immigration system saying, "What my administration is doing is examining very closely this Arizona law and its implications for civil rights and civil liberties of the people of Arizona." The law is about 17 pages long! How long can he spend "examining" it "very closely?"

Polls: Fact or Fiction, Round 2

May 27 "Anonymous" comment:

"I do not know who paid for the Wardell poll but the cost should show up on his financial disclosures. But wait, Wardell does not file the required FEC reports. Whoops!

Kid, you're in way over your head in trying to blog about anything other than Miley Cyrus. When you gradulate to big kids school, take a statistics class and then look back at how little you knew in 2010.

Your two points about polls is at worst stupid, and at best is........still stupid. But you hang in there cupcake. You can only learn by your mistakes. And, you're going to learn a lot from the mistakes you continue to pile up on your short journey through life.

You do not have a clue about the purpose of polls and the many reasons why serious campaigns use them to gather needed information from the voters.

Can't wait for your coverage of Wardell's paid vacation to Japan to see old friends."

I'm sorry for what seems to be a great lack of confidence that this commenter has in me and apparently in the youth of America. Yes, I'm 17 years old. And from the sound of things, it's probably safe to assume "Anonymous" is older than I am, though some may say his attacks seem quite childish. To paraphrase Ronald Reagan, I refuse to allow my opponent's advanced age be used against him.

It's eye-opening to me that my opinions would seem to be such a threat to someone who happens to disagree with me. I'm simply an American with an opinion. In these comments, "Anonymous" seems to expend so much time and energy trying to insult me, and not so much time discussing the issues at hand. It's also eye-opening to me "Anonymous", at his first opportunity, went directly to insults and attacks against me and my age group, rather than making any attempt to bring us to any common ground, or to bring me to his way of thinking.

I would also advise "Anonymous" to get his facts straight and learn something about campaigns. The FEC doesn't require candidates to file financial reports if the candidate didn't raise or spend $5,000 in a quarter.

I came into this position assuming that this blog has many understanding, thoughtful, and mature followers. Despite bits of evidence that this might not be 100% true, I'll continue to do the best I can in this role.

I'm looking forward to covering Michael Wardell's trip to Japan, too. Oh yeah, Mr. Wardell is paying for the trip with his own personal cash. It is ludicrous to think the taxpayers are paying for it.

And by the way, who is Miley Cyrus?

YouCut Program Week Three

This is a really neat program that Republican WHIP Eric Cantor says "is designed to defeat the permissive culture of runaway spending in Congress." The program allows you to vote each week for a proposal that will be heard on the House floor.

Last week, Rep. Michele Bachmann proposed the winning spending cut: an amendment to eliminate a pay raise for federal government employees that would save the taxpayer over $30 billion. Of course, the majority gaveled it down from the Speaker's chair, shutting down debate.

The up-or-down vote was clear and the majority voted to allow pay raises for all non military federal employees, while everyday Americans are facing 10% unemployment.

Hillary: The Rich Don't Pay Enough

Speaking at the Brookings Institution in Washington yesterday, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton declared rich people aren't paying enough taxes. "This is my opinion. I'm not speaking for the administration so I will preface that with very clear caveat. The rich are not paying their fair share in any nation that is facing the kind of employment issues, whether it's individual, corporate, whatever the taxation forms are. And I go back to the question about Brazil. Brazil has the highest tax-to-GDP rate in the Western Hemisphere, and guess what? It's growing like crazy. And the rich are getting richer but they're pulling people out of poverty. There is a certain formula there that used to work for us until we abandoned it -- to our regret, in my opinion."

I believe she is setting up for a presidential bid in 2012. We have seen her over and over again indirectly slam the Obama administration. She did it again yesterday, "This is my opinion. I'm not speaking for the administration so I will preface that with a very clear caveat." Watch out for Clinton in 2012 running on a fiscally responsible platform. She will shadow Bill Clinton's strategy. Appearing towards the center, especially on fiscal responsibility, she will attract many voters.

Back to her taxation statement, a CBO study shows the top 1% of all taxpayers pay 40% of all federal income taxes and the top 20% pay 86% of all income taxes. That sounds like the rich are paying quite a bit of their "fair share."

If we taxed the rich as much as Hillary wants, there would monstrous unemployment! Who does she think provides us with all the jobs? The rich, of course! They are the people that own the businesses and when they receive tax cuts, they hire more employees.

Liberals Tougher on Illegal Immigration or Ice Cream?

Written by: Bryan Ridenour

Almost daily, backlash from Arizona's new immigration law makes headlines. For the past two weeks, liberal sniping aimed at Arizona lawmakers warned the constitutionality of S.B. 1070 begged for a challenge. Now, marching to the drum of the liberal regime, a team of lawyers from the Department of Justice claims that Arizona overstepped its bounds in addressing an issue better suited for the federal government. Though Attorney General Eric Holder expresses his concern about the new law, a recent poll conducted by Pew Research reveals a majority of Americans approve of Arizona's decision and in a recent Rasmussen telephone poll, only 33% disapprove of such a policy. Surprised? Maybe a closer look at the law is in order.

Liberal bureaucrats claim the Arizona law promotes racial profiling and infringes upon the constitutional rights of American citizens. Maybe a first reading of the law warrants their attention. Opponents of the law suggest that the new mandate allows police to stop anyone at any time if they suspect the person to be an illegal immigrant. On the contrary, the law specifically states immigration status can only be questioned if the individual is lawfully stopped for another violation.

Weighing in on the policy, President Obama expressed mounting concerns in April. "Now, suddenly, if you don't have your papers and you took your kid out to get ice cream, you're going to get harassed." According to the new law, sweet tooths dodge harassment, provided they aren't being pulled over or detained for some other illegal infraction. Well, at least for now. Maybe the President's concern foreshadows stronger federal regulation against fudge pop vendors. Unfortunately, the liberal ideology pins greater concern on overeating Americans than on illegal immigration. Possibly, ice cream's fate balances on the precipice of prohibition. After second thoughts, carry proper documentation to Baskin Robbins.

Arizona's governor exhibited great courage, signing into law a strict immigration policy, knowing full well opposition loomed. President Obama calls the new policy “misguided” though the immigration policy mirrors the federal law, with one important exception. The federal government lacks the backbone to enforce and to secure its borders. The state of Arizona is gutsy. It's time for the federal government to man up.

Polls: Fact or Fiction?

Gary Nodler released a poll on May 13 that stated he was in the lead by 3 points with 29%. Here are the results of the entire poll done by Wilson Research strategies and paid for by Nodler:

Nodler – 29%
Jack Goodman – 26%
Billy Long – 24%
Darrell Moore – 11%
All others – 11% (note that undecided voters were not considered)

But a poll released by Michael Wardell on May 1 shows a different story:

Goodman - 11%
Nodler - 8%
Wardell - 7%
Long - 6%
Moore - 5%
Wisdom - 3%
Moon - 1%
Und - 59%

Two points are to be made about this information.

#1- Polls done by candidates are not always guaranteed to be perfect. Until an independent source runs a survey, we will not know which candidate is the front runner. And even then, remember that polls are NOT definitive.

#2- Campaigns often use polls as a tool to try to sway voters, rather than merely to report the facts. The only poll that matters is the one that will be taken on August 3.

I will also note that some campaigns have been known to resort to tactics such as making anonymous comments on blogs and Web sites, attacking other candidates. This blog will continue to ignore those comments, rather than give them space and time.

Finally, it looks to me as though this race is a lot closer than some candidates would like it to be.

Oil Spill Continues

British Petroleum is attempting once again to plug the hole that is estimated to be leaking thousands of barrels every day. Its most recent attempt to put a halt to the leak, consists of plugging the crack with mud. It is yet to be seen if it will be successful. President Obama is expected to extend the offshore drilling ban to avoid future spills and disasters. Applications for new drilling won't be evaluated until 2011.

"Never let a crisis go to waste" runs through my mind as Obama seeks to gain power in every situation he finds himself in. He has expressed a lot of frustration over the spill saying, "plug the damn hole." It's easy for him to say! He isn't the one traveling a mile down under water and trying to fix a leak that has never been solved before. Obama plans to travel to the southern coast on Friday to evaluate the situation.

Terror Alert is Discrimination

The Department of Homeland Security has alerted police forces in Texas near the Mexico border that a terror group from Somalia may be trying to infiltrate the U.S. through the border. The alert comes after a smuggling ring was broken up by Texas authorities. The group is called Al-Shabaab and has direct ties to Al-Qaeda. The terrorists are outspoken of their desire to force the Islamic religion on the West and its intent to harm the United States.

Wasn't that nice of the DHS to alert Texas? Janet Napolitano was so caring that she alerted Texas so it could protect itself. But, she didn't send help.

What is the difference between the Arizona immigration law and this terror alert? Isn't it discrimination for Texas to defend itself against Islamic radicals? I would think that Rahm Emanuel would be considering a lawsuit against Texas for this outrageous idea of the state defending itself.

KZRG Joplin Asks Michael Wardell About Billy Long's Federal Election Commission Ethics Problems

KZRG wasn't shy about bringing up some of Billy Long's problems during Michael Wardell's interview today. While it seems the radio station delivered plenty of softball interviews to Billy Long, they had a shocking question that outlined Billy Long's numerous campaign federal ethics complaints.

Wardell was asked why he filed a federal ethics complaint against Billy Long. Wardell took the high road and explained he didn't want to talk specifics about the ethics complaint, but stated as a Marine he is trained to look at things as right or wrong and act appropriately. As a Marine he was taught to report anything that broke his general orders. He didn't talk about the FEC's actions on the case.

I would imagine the last thing Billy Long wants as we head into the home stretch are radio stations talking about his ethics problems. This could get interesting. By the way, I hear, and I am not filing it, there is a fifth ethics complaint coming against Billy Long for some advertising Cox Hospitals released that features Billy Long within 90 days of the primary. Billy, do you ever play by the rules?

Jobs Allegations an "Impeachable" Crime

Rep. Darrell Issa (R) is continuing his push to get to the bottom of an impeachable situation. Joe Sestak (D), who defeated the Obama-backed Arlen Specter in the Pennsylvania Democrat primary, claims the White House offered him a job and in return he would drop out of the primary. Well he didn't drop out, but he did win the nomination. After refusing to answer any questions regarding the job offer, White House Press Secretary finally found time to look into the situation and says nothing inappropriate happened.

Issa is demanding an investigation. He said, "It's very clear that allegation is one that everyone from Arlen Spector to Dick Morris has said is in fact a crime, and could be impeachable." Rep. Issa has even threatened an ethics complaint.

Sestak faces Republican Pat Toomey in November, who is also questioning the situation. "Congressman Sestak should tell the public everything he knows about the job he was offered, and who offered it. To do otherwise will only continue to raise questions and continue to be a needless distraction in this campaign," he said.

Sestak says he would be "honored" to have President Obama campaign for him in November. As history shows us, whomever he campaigns for, loses. So I'm going ahead and calling Toomey over Sestak by a large margin in Pennsylvania's 12th District.

Closed Door Bipartisan Talks

President Obama met with GOP lawmakers behind closed doors yesterday, to discuss many different issues. Among them were repealing Don't Ask Don't Tell, energy, and immigration reforms. He stressed the need for bipartisanship. "There are members of their base who think if somebody even smiles at me, they think, 'You're a traitor, you smiled at Obama,"' the president said.

According to many sources, Republicans came away from the meeting steaming. They demanded that the President give a little more and take a little less, saying bipartisanship has to be two-sided.

Why is the President requesting bipartisanship? Last time I checked Democrats had clear majorities in both bodies. If he can get Republicans to repeal Don't Ask Don't Tell, regulate oil companies more, and grant amnesty, he can blame them when election season comes around. Obama could then say it wasn't just him, it was the Republicans, too. So far, Republicans have done decent in rejecting his agenda. Not great, but decent. They need to continue to reject it and continue to return to the conservative party they once were.

The real point that needs to be made here is Obama doesn't need GOP votes. He can't even organize his own party enough to get the votes needed to push his agenda. In each and every major issue he has taken so far, there has been bipartisan agreement against him. Democrats are in such a fury, they can't even pass the agenda that their bright, young, talented, historic, president wants.

Wardell a Potential Candidate for 2012?

Multiple businesses across the Ozarks are excited to be involved in Michael Wardell’s jobs plan which involves exporting to Asia. It is obvious that Michael has drawn the attention of the business owners of the area, but the voters haven’t quite expressed their support. This brings up an interesting question: If Wardell falls short of the nomination in August, what will his future hold?

So here goes my shot at a prediction: could Wardell give Claire McCaskill or Jay Nixon a close race in 2012? Don’t say no until you hear all I have to say.

I believe a clear majority in Missouri isn’t satisfied with McCaskill’s voting record. She has gone right along with the health care takeover and over-spending. Potential opponents include Sarah Steelman, who is currently a professor at Missouri State University and a former State Treasurer, and Jim Talent who is a former U.S. Senator and is now a fellow with the Heritage Foundation.

Jay Nixon needs to watch his back, too. With a Democrat as governor, but a Republican-controlled House and Senate, nothing of importance can get done. If Missourians realize this, Nixon could face a tough re-election against a number of candidates.

Michael Wardell may not collect enough votes this August, but don’t expect him to go away, yet. He could very easily be in contention for a 2012 seat.

Public and Private Sectors Reach New Records

A new USA Today research program found some amazing statistics. The research found that private sector wages hit a record low with 41.9% of the nation's personal income came from private wages and salaries in the first quarter, down from 44.6% when the recession began in December 2007.

Meanwhile, government benefits hit a new high with individuals getting 17.9% of their income from government programs in the first quarter, up from 14.2% when the recession started. Programs for the elderly, the poor and the unemployed all grew in cost and importance. An additional 9.8% of personal income was paid as wages to government employees.

The United States government is slowly removing the private sector and replacing it with a massive government. Another example of this is the fact that the government now owns 94% of all home mortgages. If this isn't stopped, the government will have complete control of your life.

Obama to Vacation Over Memorial Weekend

Barack Obama is breaking a tradition that presidents have observed for many years. He will not speak or observe Memorial Day at Arlington National Cemetery. Instead, he is vacationing to Chicago where he will speak at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.

Vice President Joe Biden will fill in for his boss on Memorial Day. The Bidens will place a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and will hold a breakfast for families of slain heroes.

President Obama has more important things to do than observe and respect the true heroes of this country. He doesn't have time to thank veterans or their families. What's really important in his mind is not breaking another campaign promise. He vowed to return to Chicago, his hometown, at least every 6 weeks. It has now been 16 months since he has taken office and he has returned only once. So don't blame him, aren't campaigning and vacationing more important than honoring our fallen men and women of the best military in history?

MO National Guard Helping in Oil Spill

The Missouri National Guard has announced it is sending help to Louisiana. The help includes a Black Hawk helicopter and a crew of 10-15 personnel. They plan to head out on Wednesday and will stay as long as needed. The last time the Missouri National Guard has been deployed was after violent earthquakes hit Haiti. According to sources, many states are sending aid south to lend a hand in clean up work. The spill shows no signs of slowing down, with about 90,000 barrels leaking each day.

Djou Sworn In

The winner of last week’s special election in Hawaii was sworn in today. Charles Djou, a former Honolulu city councilman, defeated former U.S. Representative Ed Case and Hawaii state Senator Colleen Hanabusa. The House of Representatives is now tallied at 255 Democrats and 177 Republicans.

I wrote an article on this special election previously. You can find it here.

New York Receives Super Bowl

Each of the NFL owners have voted to hold the Super Bowl in New York in 2014. The new Meadowlands stadium, home of the Jets and Giants, cost $1.6 billion to build.

Troops on the Border

President Obama announced today that he plans on sending 1,200 troops to the U.S. and Mexico border. This announcement comes after lawmakers from both sides of the aisle have asked President Obama to send 6,000 National Guard units. Some were happy with the 1,200, while others weren’t satisfied. John McCain said it is “simply not enough.” The proposition will be added to a $60 billion war spending bill that is being discussed on the House floor.

This is the first thing that I can almost agree with President Obama on, but I definitely think that more needs to be done to secure our borders. This is also just a proposal; there is no guarantee that it will become law. I will believe it when I see all 1,200 troops on the border. My guess right now is that it won’t even happen.

Wasteful Spending at Its Worst

You, the American taxpayer, spent more than $100,000 to buy flat-screen TVs, clothing, gym memberships, and tuition payments for federal employees. The General Services Administration reported that twenty-one employees from the Federal Protective Agency spent your money for the above listed items. The report said the employees will not face punishment for the shopping spree.

In any other business or company, the twenty-one employees would have been fired. But because it was the all-knowing, all-giving government, the employees get to keep their jobs. Let’s add these 21 jobs to the list of “created or saved” jobs.

According to the Obama administration, 640,239 jobs were created or saved from the stimulus. Adding in the 21 saved Federal Protective Agency jobs, President Obama’s emergency economic team has created or saved 640,260 jobs.

Below is my list of the top ten worst proposed stimulus programs of this administration:

10. $1 billion for Amtrak

9. $150 million for Smithsonian Museum facilities

8. $1 billion for 2010 Census

7. $25 million for tribal alcohol and abuse program

6. $100 million for reducing the hazard of lead-based paint

Family First

May 25, 2010- Clay announced this morning that he has decided to put his family first, retiring from blogging, effective immediately. While this may come as a surprise to his avid supporters, none should dispute his decision to put his family atop his priority list. My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family, and I ask each of you to join me.

Clay has asked me to fill in for him, and I have humbly accepted the challenge. While it may be difficult to carry his torch of patriotism and conservatism, I will do my best. Please bear with me as I grasp the reigns, keeping you informed while adding my conservative views of the news.

Jeff Wisdom Returns from Bahrain to Battle in Seventh District Republican Primary

With the Republican primary just over two months away, Jeff Wisdom returns from Navy active duty in Bahrain to conduct battle with his opponents. From Wisdom's tone, he sounds determined to make great strides going into the final stretch.

Wisdom returned from the Middle East yesterday afternoon and was welcomed home with a party thrown by his supporters. Unfortunately, it's going to be a couple more days until Wisdom officially returns to the campaign trail. Believe it or not, it was off to Arkansas last night, where he will do his monthly Navy drill.

Talking to his campaign manager, Rebbecca Osbourne, she say he is ready to get back on the trail, and will be getting in a lot of windshield time across the district when he returns from Arkansas.

Welcome back Jeff!

Bungalow Bill Endorses Allen Icet For Missouri State Auditor

Over the past week, I have had the privilege of getting to know Allen Icet, candidate for Missouri state auditor. The state auditor job is an important position in our state government, and we need a man that can be trusted to assume the role. Allen Icet is that man.

This year's state auditor race has been heated within the Republican ranks between Icet and his opponent. As a tea party conservative, I decided to endorse Icet based on a number of very important factors.

I met Icet during last week's Joe the Plumber rally, something Icet received much heat for. However, the opponents who attack Icet for these special campaign rallies haven't been truthful about Joe's endorsement. They want you to believe Joe's opinion means very little, but the truth is Alan Icet is only one of seven candidates this year to be endorsed by Joe the Plumber. Joe the Plumber has received over 150 endorsement requests, and has a strict endorsement policy that is based on tea party principals and trust. In other words, Icet is an elite candidate propelled by character.

Like me, Icet is an Eagle Scout, He calls it his greatest honor. Icet lives by the foundation he learned in the Boy Scouts. His Eagle Scout award shows he's a man of accomplishment and leadership--real leadership.

It is these ideals found in the Scout Law that guides Icet. This is important because the state auditor overseas how Missouri taxpayer's money is spent. This is one of the many reasons I am supporting Icet for Missouri State Auditor. In a year where tea party politics are effecting many of the races, Icet proves he is a tea party candidate as he maintains his grass roots campaign--focusing on substance that collecting huge donations in a trade for political favors.

Icet also relates well to people, unlike his opponent who seems stuffy and overly intellectual. We need people in government of good character who don't forget where they came from, and I believe Icet is that man. I am endorsing Icet for state auditor.

Michael Wardell May Not be Generating Voters Yet, but He Has the Interest of Businesses in Missouri's Seventh District

It appears, judging from a press release issued last Saturday, Republican Michael Wardell, who is running for Congress in Missouri's Seventh Congressional District has begun to pick up some momentum for his jobs plan that includes a trade mission to Asia. The Wardell campaign released the following press release noting that multiple companies have expressed wanting to export products outside of Missouri's Seventh Congressional district and have begun talking to candidate Wardell.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PR Log (Press Release) – May 22, 2010 – While other Republican candidates troll for votes today eating fish and passing out stickers, Michael Wardell continues to work towards creating a favorable environment for job expansion in Southwest Missouri. Wardell did not spend time at the annual Sucker Days event in his hometown of Nixa, other than a brief stop to say hello to his neighbors, speak to veterans and friend at the American Legion, and enjoy a few minutes in the sunshine.

It was back to work then as he developed his presentations for Japan and Asia for his upcoming trade mission as well as numerous meetings coming up with chambers of commerce organizations around the Ozarks. Jobs are more important right now than passing out stickers in hopes of votes.

Wardell has already won the interests and the support of multiple companies in the Ozarks that look to increase their bottom line by expanding their markets into Asia or anywhere else in the globe. These businesspersons understand the importance of his trip and what it means to the local economy and they are hoping Wardell will open up relationships so their products hit shelves in Asia.

Wardell and these businesses believe exporting products from the Ozarks to the rest of the world will help families in the Ozarks through job creation. These companies know they cannot wait for tax cuts to expand their businesses. They also realize tax cuts may not be immediately around the corner to create a more favorable economic environment. That is why Wardell’s plan has generated the interest of so many Southwest Missouri business leaders.

It’s also the reason why Southwest Missouri voters have a different choice in this year’s Republican primary. The other candidates are speaking typical platform politics, but Wardell’s plan gives each Southwest Missouri business an opportunity to grow, either directly or indirectly from the benefits that will trickle down if Southwest Missouri grows their exports to Asia and other parts of the world.

Where Has Bungalow Bill Been?

On Sunday morning, I woke up with severe chest and abdomin pains. After putting laying around for an hour, I decided I better head to the emergency room to ensure I wasn't having a heart attack.

For the past 30 plus hours, I have gone through a series of tests, including the stress test. All those years of semi-professional road bicycle racing proved to be a good investment in heart health. I did not have any significant plaque buildup based on the stress test. As well, the doctor determined that I suffered from acid reflux, and that I need to do a better job of taking care of myself.

So thanks to everyone who e-mailed wondering where I have been. All is good in Pepperland.

Google Becomes a Pac-Man Maze for the Day: 30th Anniversary of Pac-Man

Have you done a Google search today? If not, children of the 1980s rejoice. Google celebrates Pac-Man today, the runaway video game hit featuring a chomper and four ghost. Do you remember their names? Here's a hint. They all rhyme with the exception of Clyde.

Here's the cool thing. The Google graphic is interactive. You can actually play Pac-Man in a Google shaped maze. Very cool.

Today is the 30th anniversary of Pac-Man and Google participates once again in this important day. While Pac-Man has undergone many changes over the year, the original never dies. It's gone from a poor Atari 2600 home cartridge version to a version you can play on your phone. So let's celebrate and sing the cheesy song Pac-Man Fever today. 30 years, I am getting old.

Amazing Basketball Shot: Basket Made from Airplane Flying Overhead

Billy Long is Wrong for Missouri's 7th Congressional District

How about this for one in a million! This guy actually makes a basket thrown from an airplane flying overhead. I have seen a lot of amazing baskets in my time, but this might be the most amazing basket ever made.

Joe the Plumber's Endorsement of Allen Icet Has Greater Weight Than Just a Campaign Appearance

Joe the Plumber has been on a tour of Missouri. It hasn't gone without criticism, especially by the pencil-headed campaign of Tom Schweich. Schweich loves to question the validity of Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher's endorsement of Allen Icet, Schweich's opponent for Missouri state auditor in the Republican primary. Schweich feels its disingenuous since the Icet campaign paid Joe the Plumber's expenses to hit the campaign trail in Missouri.

Here's not what Schweich is telling voters in his criticism. Joe the Plumber drove his pickup truck to Missouri in a no-thrills endorsement. There was no airplane demands or fancy hotel rooms. The endorsement appears to run even deeper.

Schweich doesn't want you to know that Joe the Plumber hasn't made the rounds endorsing candidates to earn a paycheck to apply to his dream of owning a plumbing business. Wurzelbacher receives requests from all over the country to endorse candidates. More than 95% of those requests are refused--and to think Joe the Plumber could whore himself for the easy money of a 20 minute speech and make more money than he ever dreamed of.

What I learned about Joe the Plumber last night is it's about character. It's not about taking advantage of his name and attaching it to any political campaign that pays and opposes Obama. Wurzelbacher has only endorsed seven candidates this year. Whether Schweich wants to admit it or not, that makes Allen Icet a special candidate endorsed by one of the tea party's finest. If that little message gets around, August 3 could be a long night for Tom Schweich.

Meeting Joe the Plumber: Joe Rallies in Springfield, Missouri for Allen Icet

Joe the Plumber was in Springfield, Missouri, making an appearance at an Allen Icet campaign rally. The good people at the Icet campaign invited me to the rally, and I was in for a treat.

When the event was announced about a month ago, I accused the campaign and Joe the Plumber of astroturf. Nothing could have been farther from the truth. Joe the Plumber has become one heck of a motivational speaker for the average man celebrating liberty and freedom--hoping you will take charge of what the founding fathers gave to us and protect in by participating in the American process.

His speech wasn't about supporting Republicans and it wasn't about supporting Democrats. It was about being American and supporting the people who will go to Washington and work within the framework of the founding fathers. He loves liberty like I love liberty. He said more Americans need to stand up against politicians who don't have our best interest. I guess that makes me a Joe the Plumber of the Ozarks as I battle against the Billy Long campaign for Congress--something I joked with him about after his speech.

You know what, Joe went even further and delivered a message about God and family. He shared how he dealt with the attacks against him--something I will remember forever. He doesn't care what is said about him. He only cares what his wife and family think of him at the end of the day. I needed this message, and I owe Joe the deepest of gratitude to sharing this personal belief.

Joe the Plumber is the real deal. What you see is what you get. He didn't show up in a suit or tie and try to put on a show. It was blue jeans, work boots, and an untucked shirt. I have to say, it was one of the great pleasures of this campaign to shake hands with Joe the Plumber.

By the way, Allen Icet is a man Missouri can trust as its state auditor.

Disgraced Tour De France Winner Floyd Landis Points Doping Finger at Lance Armstrong in E-Mails

Floyd Landis tested positive for banned performance enhancing substances following the 2006 Tour de France. Cycling's governing body soon stripped Landis of his title. Now, after spending hundreds of thousands of dollars defending a lie and in a manner similar to Jose Conseco in baseball, Landis wants to tie others who doped to the disgraced list in cycling.

Included the list is cycling hero Lance Armstrong. Landis goes as far as saying he was told to go to Lance's house and received EPO in front of Armstrong's wife at the time, Kristen Richard. Landis accuses Armstrong of doping, blood transfusions, and using steroid patches.

"He and I had lengthy discussions about it on our training rides during which time he also explained to me the evolution of EPO testing and how transfusions were now necessary due to the inconvenience of the new test," Landis wrote in an e-mail to Stephen Johnson, the head of USA Cycling.

Armstrong called an emergency press conference today before the Tour of California stage. Lance denied any wrongdoing, but Landis isn't the first teammate of Armstrong's to suggest Lance doped. Frankie Andreu's wife told the tale of what Andreu witnessed.

And so damage control began at Team Radio Shack, who obviously doesn't want to embarrass their short-time sponsor who has promoted Armstong's image in their retail stores. When Landis rode for USPS, Lance commented on how much fun Landis was as he would ride wheelies on his Trek professional bike. Now Landis has always been an angry man.

"I'd say I am a little surprised but I am not," Armstrong said Thursday. He also said that Landis has been threatening to make the e-mails public "for a long time."

He said he isn't interested in pursuing legal action against Landis.

"Legal action takes time and a lot of money. I've sued a few people in my time successfully. I don't have to do that again," Armstrong said.

Bruyneel denied Landis' allegations and said it's no coincidence on timing of the admission, coming during the Tour of California.

"I've always known Floyd as an angry person ... somebody who's basically angry with the world," Bruyneel said. "To me it sounds like he just wants to drag down people who are still there and enjoying this."

"It's very sad," Armstrong said. "At one point or another, all of us implicated have cared about Floyd. We might have been on different teams or from different backgrounds in our lives, but at some point or another we shared the bond that we all gave Floyd a ladder. When he dug himself in a hole, we gave him a ladder to dig out of ... now people aren't throwing ladders at him anymore." Armstrong said Landis started sending text messages to him a few years ago. Armstrong said the texts got "annoying."

As much as I want to believe in the Lance Armstrong miracle story, there comes a time when you have so many doubts. Today added to those doubts.

Does Cox Hospitals Use of Candidate Billy Long Cross the Fine Line of Federal Election Laws?

Billy Long's appearance with Nick, Ruell, and Ned the Band for Cox Hospitals may have crossed the fine line of campaign finance rules. Last week, residents across Southwest Missouri began to receive a postcard directing them to a new wellness marketing campaign for stroke awareness by Cox Hospital. Included in the marketing materials were images of Republican Congressional candidate Billy Long.

Oh, but you say it's for a good cause. The only good cause in Billy Long's world is Billy Long, just like we saw a couple nights ago when he showed up at the Boys and Girls Club fundraiser that brought Drew Brees to town handing out Billy Long for Congress stickers for people to wear inside the event.

Even if that wasn't the case, the marketing campaign by Cox Hospital creates a pathos for Billy Long's campaign by a corporation that may have an effect on the election. Consider this, how many people who aren't paying close enough attention to this election go into the voting booth undecided in August. Suddenly, they recall Billy Long's image on that stroke awareness postcard or in the video, and think Billy Long must be a good guy since he participated in that. I will vote for him. This is why the Cox Hospital marketing campaign for FAST may have crossed an ethical line, and Billy Long should have been well aware of this law not to participate in the marketing materials.

Current FEC rules bar corporations and unions from coordinate with candidates and parties about most ads distributed within 90 days of a House or Senate primary election or within 90 days of the general election. For Presidential contests, current FEC rules allow coordination on ads referencing a presidential candidate 120 days before a state's Presidential primary election and continuing in that state through the general election.

Long appears both in print and electronic media, Web page, as well Billy also appears in the video and on radio. Long pays good money for campaign consultants. There is no excuse for this slip. One of the other campaigns need to step up and write the Federal Election Commission and file an ethics complaint for this issue, and the other candidates need to demand equal time from Cox Hospital and Nick, Rurell, and Ned the band.

Jeff Wisdom Challenges Gary Nodler's Missouri Seventh Congressional District Poll

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Caleb Harris (314) 306-6457

WISDOM CAMPAIGN RESPONDS TO NODLER POLL

An internal poll conducted by the Gary Nodler congressional campaign was released to the media late last week. Although the poll results painted Nodler as the front-runner in the race, other candidates were well within the margin of error. Jeff Wisdom's campaign staff questions the true reliability of the poll results, contending that it actually contains few positives for the state senator.

“This poll was clearly slanted to give credence to Mr. Nodler’s campaign,” said Wisdom for Congress Communications Director Caleb Harris. “While we recognize Mr. Nodler’s long record of service as a career politician, we believe internal polls conducted for these purposes only show that Missourians are tired of politics as usual. These poll numbers reflect just that. 59 percent of the 400 Missourians polled said they knew of Sen. Nodler yet do not plan on voting for him. We believe that number speaks loudly that residents of Southwest Missouri do not want a career politician.”

"There are still ten weeks to go in this primary race," Wisdom added. "The poll sanctioned by the Nodler camp was conducted over three weeks ago and only considered primary voters sampled from previous election cycles. As the nation discovered earlier this week, frustrated tea party voters must not be taken for granted by establishment candidates like Mr. Nodler. I submit that he should take no comfort knowing that most individuals who have heard of him plan on voting for other candidates."

Dow Theorist Richard Russell: You Won't Recognize America by the End of the Year

Dow theorist Richard Russel is telling his clients sell everything they can. He says by the end of the year, we will not recognize the United States. In a chilling letter, he writes:

Do your friends a favor. Tell them to "batten down the hatches" because there's a HARD RAIN coming. Tell them to get out of debt and sell anything they can sell (and don't need) in order to get liquid. Tell them that Richard Russell says that by the end of this year they won't recognize the country. They'll retort, "How the dickens does Russell know -- who told him?" Tell them the stock market told him.

Are you surprised? This United States continues to head down a path unfamiliar to most Americans, and I believe the one item that validates Russell's claim is the Democrats know they must act now to make the changes. They know there is a shift of power coming in November.

Russell goes on to write:

And I ask myself, "Am I seeing things? The April 26 high for the Dow
was 11205.03. The Dow is selling as write at 10557 down 648 points
from its April high. If business is even better than expected, then
why is the Dow down over 600 points? And why, if there were 674 new
highs on the NYSE on April 26, were there only 20 new highs on Friday,
May 14? And if my PTI was 6133 on April 26, why is it down 17 points
since its April high?

The fact is that I've been seeing deterioration in the stock market
ever since early-April, and this in the face of improving business
news. The D-J Industrial Average is composed of 30 internationally
known top-quality blue-chip stocks. These are 30 of "America's biggest
companies." If Barron's is so bullish on the future of America's
biggest companies, then why isn't the Dow advancing to new highs?

Clearly something is wrong. But what could it be? Much as I love
Barron's, I trust the stock market more. If I read the stock market
correctly, it's telling me that there is a surprise ahead. And that
surprise will be a reversal to the downside for the economy, plus a
collection of other troubles ahead.

About Dow Theory -- First, we saw the recent April highs in the
Averages. Then we saw a plunge in both Averages to their May 7 lows --
Industrials to 10380.43, Transports to 4298.12, next a short rally. If
ahead, the two Averages turn down and violate their May 7 lows, that
would be the clincher. Such action would signal the certain resumption
of the primary bear market.

Just as for years I asked, cajoled, insisted, threatened, demanded,
that my subscribers buy gold, I am now insisting, demanding, begging
my subscribers to get OUT of stocks (including C and BYD, but not
including golds) and get into cash or gold (bullion if possible). If
the two Averages violate their May 7 lows, I see a major crash as the
outcome. Pul - leeze, get out of stocks now, and I don't give a damn
whether you have paper losses or paper profits!

Hiroshima 65 Years After the Atomic Bomb: Detroit 65 Years After the Atomic Bomb

There is a viral e-mail spreading across the land that puts in perspective how destructive the Great Society, corporate tax rates, government, Fannie and Freddie, and even unions have been in the United States. They compare Hiroshima, the site where an atomic bomb was dropped to end World War II in 1945, and Detroit, Michigan 65 years later.

Hiroshima then and now:

Detroit 65 years after Hiroshima.

What has caused more long-term destruction - the A-bomb or U. S. politics?

CNN Cuts Rand Paul's Victory Speech As He Attacks Obama's Green Economy

Rand Paul's victory speech was inspiring. If you were watching CNN, chances are you didn't get to see much of it. Paul was preparing to attack Obama's green economy.

“These petty dictators say that to stop climate change it’s about ending capitalism, they are explicit, and the President by attending Copenhagen gives credibility and credence to these folks and he should not go,” said Paul.

CNN cut off the speech at that moment and started to talk over Rand Paul. We can't have the truth broadcast about how dangerous Obama's green energy economy is, and alerting people the foundation of the the green economy is red blooded communism, now can we?

John Brennan, One of Obama's Top Advisors, Calls Jerusalem by Its Arabic Name

Does the Obama administration discuss Israel as a different state during meetings with top advisors? Why else would John Brennan, Assistant to the President Obama and Deputy National Security Adviser for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism describe Jerusalem as anything but Jerusalem? He uses Arabic to describe the holy city--the same words of Islam.

"In all my travels the city I have come to love most is al-Quds, Jerusalem where three great faiths come together.”

Billy Long Tells KSPR 33 Why He Thinks He Should Be Your Congressman: Commentary Follows

The following are Billy Long's answers to a questionnaire Joe Daues and KSPR asked the Missouri 7 Congressional candidates to fill out. KSPR recently posted the Q&A on their site at http://www.kspr.com. My commentary follows Billy Long's answers.

Q: As a brand new Congressman, how do you plan to make southwest Missouri’s voice heard in a body of 435 people?

A: I think you need to go in with a common sense attitude. I’m running as a business person and I think you need to take common sense values to D.C. Our founding fathers envisioned citizen legislators, not legislator legislators. So I look at it like I’m going in there with a different perspective than people who’ve risen through the ranks of politics. So I think that’s the best way to approach it: just Ozarks common sense values.

BB: Mr. Long, common sense values include having the decency not to turn a fundraiser the Boys and Girls Club put on with Super Bowl MVP Drew Brees into your own campaign event. Pestering attendees for votes and to wear your stickers at a charity event shows you have no common sense.

Q: What’s the most important issue facing the Ozarks and the nation? How do you intend to address it as a Congressman?

A: Jobs. We have to get people back to work. And spending, which kind of runs part and parcel. We’re over-regulating, overtaxating, overlitigating business. Seven out of 10 people work for a small business. The government doesn’t create jobs. The course we’ve been on over the last year or so is that we think the government is going to create jobs with all this stimulus and shovel-ready projects and go-to-work for the government. That doesn’t work, Joe. We need to get people working for small businesses and let small businesses be able to thrive.

BB: So what is your solution Mr. Small Businessman? I haven't heard any solutions coming from your mouth. The truth is, your no-earmark pledge will actually have an impact in the wrong direction with jobs.

Q: How do you plan to cut through the bitterness and rancor of Capitol Hill so it’s not more of the same old debate?

A: You go in with an outsider’s (inaudible). You don’t go in as a Republican or Democrat. You go in as a person, as a citizen of the United States, as a citizen of the 7th district. You take a citizen’s attitude up there. You don’t take a politician’s attitude. The healthcare bill they just voted on sometime ago? 60 Democrats didn’t see any reason to vote against it. 40 Republicans didn’t see any reason to vote for it. That kind of thinking has to stop. We need to work together and you need to send people up there that don’t care about going back. I think that’s where we get the rancor and the vileness and the fighting. All they care about is getting re-elected so they can get back up there for another year. They want to go along with their party’s upper echelon. I don’t think that’s what we need to do. I think we need to be concerned about doing what’s right for the people of the 7th district and the United States, not what’s right for the party.

Mr. Long, is this the same citizen attitude that led you to Washington, DC, at least four times begging for support from special interests and political PACs? How are you going to go in as an outsider when you are already stumping to make insider deals?

Q: What makes you the right person for this job?

A: I’m a citizen. I’ll be a citizen legislator. I’ve never run for office before in my life. I’ve run a small business for 30 years. Started out went off to auction school 30 years ago. Asked Mom & Dad to help me. Built that business. Built a real estate company up. I signed the front of a check for over 30 years. I think that’s important. I’ve worked. I know what regulations and taxation do to small businesses. And again, small businesses are the backbone of this country. I want to go up there and be your eyes and ears in Washington. I don’t want to go up there for the title or the power, the prestige. I want to do what’s right: stay a few years and come home.

BB I am a citizen too Mr. Long. I should have run against you because I don't need an iPhone to answer basic questions on how government should run (by the way, did you find Billy in the picture above. I'll give you a hint, he is the guy not engaged in the tea party with the iPhone in hand). By the way, at age 54, that's all you have is a few years before you come home. Who do you think you are kidding?

I'll give you a hint, he is the guy not engaged in the tea party with the iPhone in hand). By the way, at age 54, that's all you have is a few years before you come home. Who do you think you are kidding?

Miss Oklahoma: Not Your Typical Centerfold Autograph

Now this is sexy--Miss Oklahoma in a bikini. But wait, look what Morgan Elizabeth Woolard writes: I [heart] states' rights. How hot is that! (I hope this is legitimate; although she stands by her states' right comments from the Miss USA pageant.

While the real Miss USA addresses the fact she was a pole dancer, it's obvious who has the brains this year--Miss Oklahoma. In fact, now four days removed from the pageant, she continues to stand up for her statement on Arizona's tough new immigration law with no regrets. Some people believe her support of the Arizona law cost her the title.

She recently told Fox 9, "I was absolutely ready for the question and truthfully for me, it wasn't tough," Woolard said.

"I believe if you know who you are and what you believe and why you believe it, then no question can stump you.

"I was confident in my answer, there was no hesitation, and I just spoke from my heart and I believe what I said was well said and I feel strongly about that and I'm proud of my answer."

Rand Paul Nomination Shows Americans Upset With Status Quo, Says Jeff Wisdom

Missouri 7th District Congressional Candidate Jeff Wisdom says the Republican nomination of Dr. Rand Paul for Kentucky’s U.S. Senate seat proves Americans current distaste in government.

May 19, 2010 – "As the primary election returns from last night have demonstrated, American voters are frustrated with status quo politics-as-usual,” Wisdom said.

Wisdom, an Economics Professor at Ozarks Technical Community College, believes this is proof that Americans do not want career politicians who only seek to advance the political ladder. Americans are seeking honest citizens with true experience to lead America’s legislative body.

“The tea party movement had a tremendous impact in the Kentucky primary race for U.S. Senate,” said Wisdom. “This proves that a political novice can win a high-profile race in this election cycle. In fact, many disenfranchised voters are increasingly willing to support a newcomer over an insider or career politician. Consider the defeat of Arlen Specter, the five-term senator who lost his primary race in Pennsylvania despite switching parties for political expediency last year. These results should embolden outsider candidates in the upcoming Republican primary for Congress in Southwest Missouri."

Jeff Wisdom is an economics professor at OTC and a Petty Officer Second Class in the Naval Reserve.

Gary Nodler Appears in Don't Tread on Me: A Refresher Course in the Constitution Trailer and Movie

Missouri Seventh Congressional District candidate Gary Nodler appears in a recently released documentary called Don't Tread on Me: A Refresher Course in the Constitution. As you can see from the trailer above, Nodler's makes a brief appearance.

Doing a little more research of the film, I find the film is the latest documentary by William Lewis and Gary Franchi. They came to Jefferson City to interview Senator Nodler after he penned his own Tenth Amendment bill in the Missouri Senate. Nodler was one of a handful legislators in Jefferson City that introduced state sovereignty bills in the state house, other legislators that I know of who crafted Tenth Amendment bills include Jim Guest, Cynthia Davis, and Jack Goodman.

It details the Commerce Clause, defines our once cherished sovereignty, explains the purpose of the constitutional militias, and much more. The film offers solutions on how the people can best take back rights hijacked and nullified by the federal government. Infowars, May 7, 2010.

More Angry Voters Speak Up Over Billy Long's Campaign Presence at Drew Brees Charity Event

There is more fallout today over Billy Long's decision to turn a positive charitable event in Springfield into a campaign stop for his Congressional bid. Last night, Super Bowl MVP Drew Brees of the New Orleans Saints was in Springfield to help raise money for the Boys and Girls Club. Billy Long tried to take attention away from Breeze and turn it upon his campaign. People are mad. In fact, out of all the incredibly stupid things Billy Long has done on the campaign trail, this is drawing some of the sharpest criticism.

We already know from multiple sources Billy Long brought an entourage of campaign volunteers to the event to pass out stickers for people to wear. Now it has come out, Billy Long tried to post a large banner at the event for people to see as they walked into this high-profile charitable event. This was neither the time or place to politic, and Billy Long broke a long-standing rule about keeping politics out of certain places. This isn't the first time Billy Long has handed out these stickers at inappropriate places either.

From what I am hearing, to put it bluntly, the board members who organized this even are mad as can be that Billy tried to turn this into his own event for self-political gain.

This is consistent about why Billy Long is in the race. He is in this race for self-serving purposes. Only a man with self-serving interests would attempt to use a positive charity event to draw attention to his own needs. I think it's becoming more apparent, Billy Long is in this race to ensure his own legacy in Robert Byrd fashion.

The Tea Party is the Largest Swing Vote Bloc in the Republican Party

As we enter the last two months of the Republican primary season here in Missouri, we watch how the tea party movement changed the face of American politics in primaries around the country. Last night's victory by Rand Paul will be spun by both Republicans and Democrats, but they are taking notes behind closed doors.

While they pass both Ron and Rand Paul off as scary 'fringe' candidates, they know they are candidates the tea party movement identifies with because of their staunch position on the United States Constitution.

Gary North at Lew Rockwell writes today, "Mainstream Republican politicians now face a major problem: the rise of the Tea Party movement. These furious voters are in no one's hip pocket. They are in a position to de-rail any Republican candidate who does not promise to roll back taxes and spending. They can run an independent candidate after the nomination of a squishy Republican. They can spoil his election night party.

The Tea Party movement is now the largest swing vote bloc in the Republican Party. It is going to get larger."

This should open the eyes of any Republican who still runs for the party's nomination. Here in Missouri, there is still ten weeks to go before voters go to poll, and that's a lot of time for tea party voters to tune in and discover who is the Ron Paul candidate that will stand up and put an end to Washington gone wild. In other words, it's about to get interesting.

Rand Paul's Victory Speech: The Real Hope and Change

Rand Paul represents real change (the belief and enforcement of the United States Constitution) that we can believe in. Here's party of his victory speech last night. His main point, "we have come to take the government back." It was a very good night for America.

The Liberal Media Throws Out Arlen Specter like a Cheap Whore

The love affair with Arlen Specter died quickly. He was betrayed by the very people who once claimed he had courage for becoming Obama's deadly 60th vote. Just listen to what Chris Matthews had to say about Benedict Arlen.

Specter was like a man wearing a dress looking to get on the lifeboat on the Titanic. While I would say the Titanic is the Democrat party, I am not sure Matthews believes that yet. He soon will face that fact.

Billy Long's New Best Friend Forever of the Week: Look to Long to Drop Rand Paul's Name to Capitalize on Tea Party Vote

Billy Long's new BFF of the week is Rand Paul. Look for Billy Long to drop Rand Paul's name more in coming weeks in his speeches. He's already dropping Ron Paul's name in hopes of creating a connection.

Long has an identity crisis going into the Republican primary in the Seventh District. It appears across the country, the tea parties are influencing election after election, and Rand Paul's win in Kentucky proves further just how strong the tea party vote has become a factor in these mid-term elections. It's out with the incumbents and in with Constitutionalists and tea partiers.

Billy Long thought he could run a just a citizen going to Washington, and then something happened. Billy actually discovered he might actually win this thing. So what did he do?

He went to the very establishment he cursed at in hopes of closing the deal. Since then, Billy Long turned himself into the very thing his campaign stood against.

Billy Long's latest campaign business cards now say endorsed by Mel Hancock, a twenty-year political force in Missouri politics--in other words, part of the old Republican establishment. When you add this to the career politician producing political machine Long hired to direct his campaign, Long looks more like an incumbent and a career politician than he does a tea party candidate inspired by the Constitution. If Long has been inspired by anything, it's the money side of politics demonstrated by his fundraising efforts. Have you noticed on Billy's twitter page lately, they no longer list the people contributing to help keep a red seat red?

Endorsed by Mel Hancock is another way of saying I will continue down the road of what came before me. That's not what voters want to hear in 2010.

Billy Long Appears in Cox Hospital Stroke Awareness Campaign: Reader Makes Political Connections

Over at the Billy Long is Wrong site, a number of people noted their concern for Billy Long's health and have asked if the extra girth mixed with the pressures of Washington is a prescription for serious health problems for Long when the realities of Congress take their toll on Long--especially when you consider his lack of qualifications. Many people know the anger and stress the Long is Wrong Web site has placed on Billy Long, and the media focus on Long will take its toll, especially if and when Keith Olbermann gets wind of Long's antics. (I am sure you can foresee a few stories playing out if you know Billy Long.)

So it's interesting to note Billy Long has become a poster child for Cox Health's Stroke Awareness program. A reader pointed out Billy Long is a stroke ready to happen.

The reader also pointed out the political connections to the video, and are surprised Cox Hospital allowed this to happen.

"How this slipped by the big wigs at Cox health I don't know, where are the rest of the candidates?"

One of Springfield's favorite musical experiences are Nick, Ruell, and Ned the band, and apparently Ruell Chappel and Nick Sibley are Billy Long supporters according to the reader, who is well-versed in local Springfield politics.

I guess Cox Hospital is just lucky Billy Long takes stroke preparedness more seriously than he takes tornado preparedness, or they would have even a bigger controversy on their hands.
