Sarah Steelman Kicks off New Campaign Web Site With Advertisement on Gay Dating Social Network
Sarah Steelman picked the the week between Christmas and New Years, traditionally a very slow news cycle, to officially launch her Senate campaign with a new Web site. She is also advertising and in some very interesting places I might add. Possibly looking to pick up the Log Cabin Republican vote, Sarah Steelman's campaign ads were found on a gay dating iPhone, Blackberry, and Android social network service called Grindr as noted in a tweet today in the last hour by Arthur Nunn on Twitter.
Grindr describes itself as: The go-to place for gay, bi, and curious guys to meet, the location-based Grindr is free, fast, and fun. It uses GPS technology in your iPhone or BlackBerry and Wi-Fi in your iPod touch or iPad to determine your exact location and instantly connect you with guys in your area.
Nunn took a screen shot form his iPhone of the Steelman ad posted on the gay dating smart phone social network.
Considering this is where Steelman has decided to spend her campaign money to push her Senate run, will this be representative of the values we can expect from Steelman?

Your position, then, is there is no room for gays in the Republican Party?
ReplyDeleteI'd expect the Steelman camp bought an ad on an advertising network and didn't closely monitor places where the ad would appear. Since you're in the technology biz, I would expect you would know that, too, but you feel the need to take a shot at Steelman anyway, hey?
No, that's not my position at all. I actually follow a Log Cabin Republican's blog from time to time. It would be one thing if this ad was placed on a gay Web site that was based on conservative values, but this site, which you can clearly see by its name, promotes promiscuity--not values that most conservatives hold.
ReplyDeleteSteelman should have seen the list of sites and applications her ad appears on and chose placement of those ads a little more carefully. Of course, she isn't the brightest bulb in the pack either.
I wonder if many candidates at that level pay that close of attention to the minutiae of the technology to actually vet individual sites in the ad delivery network.
ReplyDeleteSomeone in the campaign should have paid closer attention, but ultimately this is a very minor clerical error that does not reflect on the values of the candidate nor, really, her intelligence.
It is minor. I thought this was more fun than anything. I am not a big Steelman fan. I don't trust her and beleive she is another GOPer wearing the mask of the Tea Party. I am on record hoping that Paul Curtman runs and will encourage him through this blog. He is the real face of the Tea Party, and he has character. As I wrote today, Steelman is just another politician in constant campaign mode, and that is why she is so quick to get out of the gate. Win one, win another, lose one, sit on the fence for another, and rush to the next making it look like a deal was made to keep her out of the other.
