Billy Long Blames Washington, Goodman, and Nodler for His Own Earmark Mess

Why wasn't Billy Long fed up when he served on the airport board? We now know now Billy Long approved $3 million dollars in federal spending to build a bus terminal at the old Springfield Branson airport terminal that was shut down just a few short years later meaning the bus terminal was basically useless. Now the truth about Billy Long's love of the earmark has been exposed, the Long campaign is quick with the damage control quickly pointing fingers at Gary Nodler and Jack Goodman.

Long spokesman Royce Reding says, “It’s false – [a] negative ad that’s paid for by Jack Goodman and Gary Nodler’s buddies in Washington.” He says, “The ad is false on its face. Billy voted for the lowest bid for the contactor – it wasn’t even an earmark – it wasn't a grant.”

Wait a minute Mr. Reding. If Billy Long has a history of being fed up over wasteful government spending, why didn't Long stand up against taking the money in the first place and send a clear message to Washington that the fiscal security of the nation is more important than a bus terminal at an airport slated to be useless in a few short years? Why didn't Mr. Long go on record and say we don't need your federal money in earmark or grant form to build our bus terminal here in Southwest Missouri. We can build it on our own!

I guess it wasn't advantageous for Long to stand up against it and upset the other members who voted along with Billy Long on the airport board at the time. Now, it is advantageous for Billy Long to say he stands up against earmarks because it's popular. The bottom line is, Billy Long has no backbone.

Let's hope Southwest Missouri doesn't have to watch Billy Long stick his finger to the wind for the next two years and then run from the truth.

  1. Really, Royce Reding?

What about the vote to seek the funding to begin with? Does not the Airport Board direct the airport administrator?

How simple minded are you to disconnect the process into segments to deflect the truth from Mr. Long?

How, Mr. Reding, are you going to counter the $20,000 being spend in Springfield and $27,000 being spend in the Joplin to reveal the truth about Mr. Long?

This whole deal is not the slam dunk Mr. Long and his high-dollar supporters believed it would be, now is it?

And, maybe Mr. Long has second thoughts about his relentless attacks on Congressman Blunt for being a "career politician." Looks like Goodman's Uncle Roy got 'fed up' with these attacks and decided 'enough is enough.'

Stew in your own brew, Reding, Roe, Harris and Long.

  2. Billy thought the bus terminal would have a round
trip bus ride from the airport to Down Stream and back, we are a witness to the collapse of a
$600.000.00 Campaign which could not even pull
off his own hometown newspaper endorsement.

  3. That's funny. Billy thought the bus terminal would provide non-stop service to the Downstream Casino!

  4. Billy Long Auctions, Pinegar Chevrolet, Thompson Cadillac, Randy Little's PFI, Murney and Associates and all of the other revenue producers for the Springfield would be well served to give the Springfield News-MisLeader an advertising holiday and not buy ads for several weeks.

Let that misguided bunch of know-nothings loose enough revenue to feel more of the pinch after endorsing sending another know-nothing to Congress.

  5. Are you claiming Billy Long actually knows something other than the comment I am endorsed by Mel Hancock?

  6. Wasn't it the Billy Long campaign that was trying to spread lies that Jack Goodman took casino lobbying money, when in fact he sent it back? Wasn't it the Long campaign that tried to claim Goodman supports cloning as well in a whisper campaign? Of course none of the Long's campaign's accusations were true. Just politics as usual from a man who claims he isn't really a politician.

  7. Wasn't it Miles Ross, Goodman's campaign manager who has relentlessly texted information and filmed Billy Long and sent this information to longiswrong.com?

Good grief Jack. Your people filmed the candidate debate in Polk County right in front of us. And it show up immediately?

And yes, Billy knows that he has been endorsed by Missouri Right to Life and Mike Huckabee and by citizens who have contributed over $700,000 to his campaign.

  8. Where is this video you speak off. I have looked all over this website for the mysterious Miles Ross video, and I can't find a video from a Polk County event. What kind of wacky weed are they smoking at the Long campaign headquarters anyway? And Long's campaign has filmed candidate forums as well.
