ASTROTURF! Billy Long, the True Political Outsider?: Billy Long is Part of the Establishment
Alice HaseltineSpecial to The Globe
SPRINGFIELD, MO. — I’m a young, politically conscious student and a native of Springfield. I’ve watched the 7th District congressional primary election unfold with grave concern.
With countless Republican candidates claiming to be Washington “outsiders,” a recent ad attacking candidate Billy Long has left me skeptical and confused. I worry that I’m not the only young voter who feels this way.
On Monday, I watched as KY3 aired an advertisement attacking Billy Long’s stance on earmarks. While the ad began with a seemingly accurate statement, suggesting that “politicians and insiders are at the trough” of our nation’s economic deficit, the ad proceeded with confusing accusations, accusing Billy Long (who is anything but a Washington insider) of a vote he made while serving on the Springfield Airport Board.
This ad was apparently paid for by Americans for Job Security, an advocacy organization that protects the identity of its donors. The viewers of this ad are not at liberty to know the source of these claims. I can only deduce that this is an attempt by true Washington insiders and perhaps other 7th District candidates — some of whom are career politicians — to protect the exclusivity of Washington, with a false slam of Billy Long, the only front-running candidate who is not a career politician.
This propaganda, stemming from Washington D.C., was obviously intended to discredit Long. Instead, I think it frames the choice that faces the voters of Southwest Missouri on Tuesday. It’s a choice between business as usual and an earnest attempt for true change. My vote is going to the candidate who hasn’t spent the majority of his years in Jefferson City and Washington, D.C. I want a congressman who has felt our nation’s hardship from the standpoint of a small-business owner. My vote is for Billy Long, the true Washington outsider.

The "Long is Wrong" blogger, once again. demonstrates that truth/fact/hard-hitting investigation is NOT the exclusive domain of SW MO media mavens. In fact, the "Long is Wrong" blogger is providing a valued community service since the 600,000+ population of SW MO is without any full-time political reporter in print, radio or t.v. and the media has been M.I.A. since May (and only one since February). American Patriots are being dominated with slick, slicker and slickest commercials, robo calls and drop literature. Packaged, politicians (yes, Long, Nodler, and Goodman) family political machines and party insiders have coupled themselves together. Their shadow intent is to keep power away from the regular folks - whose family, faith and funds are being swept away. Seriously consider the only common-sense, compassionate Constitutional conservative, MIKE MOON, the 3rd name on the Aug 3rd ballot. Rabbi DF Eukel, the radio rabbi of Ramble & Rumble with Rabbi, Venue For Vision & Values In Our Communities. FULL DISCLOSURE: Rabbi Eukel has publicly endorsed MIKE MOON for the Republican nomination for United States Congress and receives a modest consulting fee.
ReplyDeleteRabbi Eukel is full of it. Respect the journalists we have out there. Look at the Globe's full time Political Reporter, Susan Redden. Look at the great work out of The Fuse Joplin. TV news has done a hell of a job, these past couple months.
ReplyDeleteEli Yokely is the only one in that list that has done anything worth noting. HHe connected Billy Long's campaign manager to the $100 million Long atacks Nodler and Goodman for. Not to mention this blog was talking about Billy Long's bus terminal to nowhere long before anyone else.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't call $6000 a "modest" consulting fee. Rabbi is in it for himself only and has screwed a decent guy by heaping a mass of debt on him. An Rabbi Mike is not the ONLY constitutional conservative in this race...get over yourself.
ReplyDeleteLet's agree that Mike Moon is a Constitutional conservative and Billy Long is not. Let's focus here. This site is about the making sure the auctioneer stays in Springfield in January.
