You Cut Program Week 4
Once again Eric Cantor has brought an up or down vote to the House floor in the name of you the people. Each week Republicans have proposed a spending cut that you have selected. Here is the email with the results from last week's proposal:
"You are making history.
Since we started the YouCut project, House Republicans have taken the policies that you have selected and offered over $100 billion in spending cuts on the House floor for up-or-down votes by your Representatives.
Just yesterday (June 17), we voted on the proposal championed by Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) to sell excess federal government property, which would generate over $15 billion in savings. Click here to see where your Representative stood on this important vote.
With every YouCut vote you cast, you are helping to challenge Washington's culture of spending. Together, we are changing the debate from ways the government can spend more of your money into a debate over different ways to reduce spending. Let me share with you two examples of how you are changing Washington.
After this week's YouCut proposal was unveiled to save $15 billion by selling excess federal property, President Obama announced his own version that would save $3 billion. (It isn't $15 billion, but at least it is a step in the right direction!)
The Majority recently called all of their committee chairmen together and told them they had to start finding ways to save money. A Capitol Hill newspaper cited YouCut as prompting the request!
This is only the beginning. There is much more to do. America must reject the road of unsustainable debt; the stakes have never been higher.
Click here to cast your vote on which item should be brought up for a vote next week."
