Russian Spies Arrested in NJ

Eleven people accused of operating a Russian spy ring have been arrested in New Jersey. Experts close to the situation say it was a long-term attempt to slowly infiltrate the government. Russia has angrily denounced the arrests saying it was an unjustified throwback to the Cold War.

The White House claims that President Obama knew of the situation and was up to date on it. Obama said, "I do not believe that this will affect the reset of our relationship with Russia." The State Department agreed with him saying that we shouldn't be surprised that there are Russian spies in the country and it just proves we need to continue to improve our relationship with them.

The Justice Department, who announced the arrests on Monday, thinks differently. Justice officials described the arrests as "the tip of the iceberg" of a Russian intelligence conspiracy against the US.

So which one should we believe? The White House that has no experience in handling spies or the department that has worked on similar cases for over 140 years.

White House Pres Secretary Robert Gibbs made a surprising statement on the topic saying, "This was a law enforcement action and law enforcement acted appropriately." This is the first time I can recall this administration applauding law enforcement.
