Billy Long's Radio Record Leaves Plenty of Questions About Long's Commitment to Pro-Life Causes and Candidates

As most of us know, the Missouri Right to Life Political Action Committee ignored Jack Goodman and Gary Nodler's strong pro-life record in the Missouri legislature and endorsed Billy Long based on comments he made on the radio. Long now boasts of his radio days as his pro-life record. He made the following comments earlier this week in Joplin as he accepted the endorsement.

“During the 6 years as a talk show host, I’ve made my standing on abortion - I’m 100 percent pro life – ever since I found out what an abortion was,” Long said.

I am glad Long brought up his radio record, because we are going through hours and hours of tapes a listener made of Billy Long's radio show on KWTO. There are some major inconsistencies in Long's claim of being pro-life and actual comments he made on the radio. These comments go back to the heated gubernatorial race between Claire McCaskill and Matt Blunt.

Back in those days, Billy Long was quite critical of the pro-life candidate, Matt Blunt. He was also praising of the pro-choice candidate as well. I am quite eager to play Billy Long's praises of Claire McCaskill to key GOP party members from his KWTO days. All the while Long attacks Blunt for many of his conservative views and actions.

How can it be Billy Long is a pro-life champion when he attacks pro-life politicians? I mean we are talking about Claire McCaskill here, a Senator who often stands hand in hand with Barack Obama, looking like a love-sick puppy dog, who voted for Obama's health care reform bill without questioning taxpayer funded abortions within the bill. The Republican party and pro-life supporters better figure out Billy Long wears a complicated mask before August 3.
