Rand Paul Nomination Shows Americans Upset With Status Quo, Says Jeff Wisdom
Missouri 7th District Congressional Candidate Jeff Wisdom says the Republican nomination of Dr. Rand Paul for Kentucky’s U.S. Senate seat proves Americans current distaste in government.
May 19, 2010 – "As the primary election returns from last night have demonstrated, American voters are frustrated with status quo politics-as-usual,” Wisdom said.
Wisdom, an Economics Professor at Ozarks Technical Community College, believes this is proof that Americans do not want career politicians who only seek to advance the political ladder. Americans are seeking honest citizens with true experience to lead America’s legislative body.
“The tea party movement had a tremendous impact in the Kentucky primary race for U.S. Senate,” said Wisdom. “This proves that a political novice can win a high-profile race in this election cycle. In fact, many disenfranchised voters are increasingly willing to support a newcomer over an insider or career politician. Consider the defeat of Arlen Specter, the five-term senator who lost his primary race in Pennsylvania despite switching parties for political expediency last year. These results should embolden outsider candidates in the upcoming Republican primary for Congress in Southwest Missouri."
