Missouri Southern MO 7 Congressional Debate Rules: Don't Bring Your iPhone Billy Long

Billy Long has been giving a variation of the same stump speech for over 15 months. The speech started out with his strong distaste for earmarks and varied along the way to include Mel Hancock's name, as well as any other name he can drop. Given the simplicity of the Billy Long campaign, one would expect him to to be able to answer simple questions without much thought. Stay on message--focus on simplicity.

That wasn't the case during the Ozark Chamber of Commerce Congressional forum held a few weeks ago. Billy Long brought his iPhone to the debate, and as questions were asked, one of Long's assistants text messaged the answers to his iPhone. It was so notable, Democrat Tim Davis went on the record describing Billy Long's political incompetence at the Ozark forum.

So on the eve of the Jasper County 7th District Congressional Candidate Forum, we would like to review the rules with Mr. Long. There will be no cheating Mr. Long. In case you haven't noticed rule #9, it reads:

9. Cell phones will not be allowed in a candidate’s possession during the forum. Candidates have the choice of placing their phone with a family member, campaign manager, or trusted friend so they can be monitored in case an emergency situation arises.

We will be watching Billy. Don't even try it.
