New Tone in Washington Means New Tone for College Football

The ever overreaching Barack Obama, who promised Americans more jobs on Wednesday night now has bigger things on his mind--like the Bowl Championship Series. For months Congress has considered challenging the college football championship series, and now Obama thinks it's an issue for him. This all coming from a man who stood in front of the United States during the United States acting as if he has some king of Constitutional understanding of our country. This proves he doesn't.

Obama wants to challenge the legality of the BCS. I really wish I was kidding on this one--SPORTS BEFORE JOBS.

The Obama Justice Department sent a letter to Republican Senator Orrin Hatch addressing the issue. Which Congress has no authority to regulate college football either, with the exception they are claiming it's interstate commerce. Please, do they really think the founding fathers would have spent their time on such trivial matters? The Obama administration wants to know if the BCS violates antitrust laws with the current rating system.

Assistant Attorney General Ronald Weich writes: Importantly, and in addition, the administration also is exploring other options that might be available to address concerns with the college football postseason," hoping the Federal Trade Commission will review the BCS under consumer protection laws. I wonder how many more millions of dollars this investigation will cost as Obama says spending freezes are coming.

"The administration shares your belief that the current lack of a college football national championship playoff with respect to the highest division of college football ... raises important questions affecting millions of fans, colleges and universities, players and other interested parties."

I don't know why Obama feels he has the power to regulate college football. Someone please put their finger on a section in Article II of the Constitution and show me where Obama was given this power. Obama please come to this Web site and personally point out where Article II gives you the power to regulate college football.

Of course, maybe if Obama puts focus on college football for a few months his radical agenda may slow down, so there could be a plus to all of this. This clearly shows Obama doesn't know the limits of his office.
