Missouri Prepared to Tax Consumers for Energy Efficiency

Missouri Governor Jay Nixon and Missouri legislators are preparing to tax Missouri energy consumers in the name of energy efficiency. The state of Missouri is about the be the poster child that proves what many who question the intentions of green politicians—green is about taxation.

The idea of the taxes is to make consumers pay for new green initiatives to help support new infrastructure to produce efficient users. Whoa, wait a minute, aren’t billions of federal stimulus dollars being spent to promote this very thing? Now the state of Missouri wants to dig deeper into the tax payers dollars to build green energy infrastructure. This green energy is a bottomless pit that will rob taxpayers for decades.

Missouri is justifying the new tax by claiming that it will cost taxpayers less money to charge them the tax than if they allowed the energy companies to spend their own money and charge their customers directly for the infrastructure. First, there are billions available to these companies in federal stimulus money, so why are we giving them more. Secondly, do they really believe that energy costs are going to be more affordable based on all the variables forced by the government at this time? Do you? I don’t.

With all the new regulations energy costs are rising, and Missouri is adding to the increase. Will there be enough protections with the tax to prevent the electric companies from double dipping in your pocket? I know I have documented that I am already paying an infrastructure tax in many of my utilities bills. Why aren’t these fees directed towards these green building causes?

I just think Missourians are getting hit at all sides on energy taxes, and we are about to get another one to pay.

Great... Another way politicians force taxpayers to spend their money. This is no longer America the free. Its whoever pays the politician the most money is who is in charge. We're already at a 11.7 trillion dollar debt. We've bailed out companies that helped rob/bankrupt America along with jumping off of buildings with million dollar bonuses for what they've done. Our legal/political system and laws are a quagmire since the country is run by lawyers who mess up health care and American jobs with outrageous malpractice/corporate lawsuits against Doctors and corporations. These things you are doing are not helping. This going green initiative is not going to help in this time of recession. Its just going to make things worse. Back off or I forsee some very traumatic reprecutions in the near future. Not likely you'll listen cause it'll be too late for us to respond by the time you initiate this. If people in charge would just admit to the problem instead of being so greedy we'd be fine. I'm already near bankruptcy and if you wanna keep putting people out of work considering we're already at an all time high in unemployment, keep pulling off these greed taxes you think are necessary.
