One Man, Many Taxes, 365 Days: Day 31

Linz from Average Abnormalities inspired tonight's tax blog. Obama and Democrats like Claire McCaskill hit CEOs and their bonuses hard this week. Americans need to change the way they think about this issue. The government does this to each and every one of us as we move up the tax brackets. They punish our achievements and send the message that we shouldn't be making as much as we do.
Let's use an example. Let’s say the tax rate increases at $60,000. The person whose taxable income $59,999 may be taxed at 13%. The person who makes a dollar more in taxable income has to pay 4% more. Tell me how this is fair? The person who made $59,999 actually takes home more than the person who makes $60,000. What's the message the government sends? You are making too much and now it’s time we penalize you. They treat us like CEOs too, it's just less obvious. Thanks Linz for the common sense!

I'VE BEEN SAYING THAT FOR YEARS! Why are we taxed at a higher rate for making more? Why isn't all income tax, say, 15% or 10%? That makes absolutely no sense. I know my Dad got a raise once and brought home less money than before the raise. How does that add up?!
