The IRS Hung Up On Me: Held at Gunpoint (And They Don't Want to Provide Me With the Information I Requested)

My last year's tax return played to the favor of the Internal Revenue Service and now I face their gun in a monthly letter reminding me of my payment agreement and the additional penalties and fees. After a few months of unemployment in 2007, my savings was dried up, and I was left with the option of a payment plan to pay them back for the taxes on my previous years work. It's been a frustrating year, which has opened my eyes even further to the evils of taxation in this country.
After the Timothy Geithner confirmation, I have more reason to be outraged by the direction of our country. For an entire year, I have watched how the penalties and interest add up, making it nearly impossible to pay back the IRS if you are on a payment plan. I have compared it to a maxed credit card.
Today, I decided I had enough. I called the IRS seeking information. I let the gentlmen know (didn't write down his number) I was outraged by the politicians in this country who feel they have the right to take more and more of my money, and that it's an insult that a man who didn't pay over $35,000 in taxes is demanding that I pay mine while tacking on interest and penalties. (In other words my taxes are being taxed.) The IRS obviously has a script for Geithner calls.
I asked for the most simple of information. I asked for the IRS to send me the actual law that says I am required to pay a tax on work. For years I have heard rumors the law doesn't exist. The gentlemen said he couldn't do that. I insisted, I wanted to see evidence of a law that shows I am required to pay a tax on my work. He placed me on hold, and Mozart played over my cell phone.
He came back without an answer. "Is there anything else I can do for you sir."
I said send me the information I requested. He wasn't receptive.
I asked him for his name and his control number so I could talk to his superior. He accused me of threatening him and told me it's not advisable to threaten the IRS. I told him it wasn't a threat, and I should have the right to see the information I requested. He hung up.
I called again. I didn't say anything about Geithner. I simply asked if they would send me information. The lady (Hill 0180438) was cooperative up until the point I specified the information that I wanted. She then acted like no one in the United States has ever called for this information, and she put me on hold--Mozart. I love Mozart, and the IRS isn't worthy of his genius.
When she returned, she notified me she was transferring me. Mozart again.
As I wait on hold, I've read many stories of former IRS agents who leave the IRS because of their unlawfulness. All of them claim that they couldn't produce the exact law I requested today. In fact, from many commercials I hear on the radio that fight the IRS and back taxes, their staffs include former IRS agents who fight the IRS for this reason.
The next lady answered (4319309). I was polite, and I asked her that I would like to see the written laws that says a resident of the United States is required to pay income taxes. She paused. I told her I would like to have the written law sent to my house for my examination. She laughed at me and placed me on hold. SHE LAUGHED AT ME! Mozart.
She got back on the phone. She told me I could go to the IRS Web site and basically search it on my time. The current tax code is millions of pages, and the IRS won't send me the most basic of tax laws. I am not asking for much. Why are they giving me the runaround? What are they hiding? The IRS may just be the greatest scam in the history of man.
Here's their number if you want to try: 800-829-8374. Good luck. Let me know if you come up with anything. Before you call, you may want to watch the following video: America: From Freedom to Fascism.

ReplyDeleteWait until you need an operation and they ok it six months after you are dead. THat is how the bean counters reduce their costs. THey have it figured if they put you off for a specific amount of time you will get frustrated and quit. That is seriously how they cut costs. Ever try to apply for SSI? I have not but was told by the head of the local office that is how it works. They first deny everyone and then if you re apply they may see your case in 6 months. By then you will be in jail where you will get more help. Serious.
ReplyDeleteLast night, I placed an order for Pizza Hut pizza online at 3:13PM to be picked up at 6:30PM. At 6:35PM, I arrived at the store, and they told me it would be a few more minutes. Heh. OK. At 7:00PM, my pizza was not ready. It was 35 minutes late. And they had the order over 3 hours ahead of its due time. I thought that was pathetic. But, your story definitely tops mine.

§ 63. Taxable income defined
(a) In general
Except as provided in subsection (b), for purposes of this subtitle, the term “taxable income” means gross income minus the deductions allowed by this chapter (other than the standard deduction).

That's really not stating that I am required to pay, and there has been more controversy over this since this was written. Those are really meaningless defintitions. I want to see where in the code it says a person is required.
