Tex Mex is Out: The New Flavor of Washington

Tex Mex is out. In 2001, fluff pieces described how salsa would season the Capitol city as the Bushes came to Washington. It was the best the liberal media could do to replace the George W. Bush 'stole' the election stories during Inauguration Day. This year there won't be stories on Chicago deep-dish pizza, Italian beef sandwiches, Vienna Beef hot dogs, Chicago chop houses, Ugali (the national dish of Kenya), fried chicken, or watermelon. For 2009, the new flavor in Washington has a much greater calling.

In 2000, the new word of the day for the media was gravitas, which means substance. Bush lacked gravitas, even after spending nearly two terms as Texas governor. The new flavor of Washington comes seasoned with even less gravitas. The media, who lack gravitas, won't feature Obama soft news on January 20. They have a Presidency to create, and you can be sure they will continue comparing Obama to other great Presidents. (I would say you can add Franklin Roosevelt to that list, but FDR was a failure. We know the results of the New Deal.) They will report how strong, forceful, determined, and Presidential Obama looked. They will exit stage 'left' and begin directing the most scripted Presidency in the history of our nation. Chris Matthews for the Academy Award?

Sorry about the captcha. I hate them just like you, but the spambots have gotten ridiculous.
