The Dangers of the Veterans Disarmament Act

George W. Bush signed a blessing for his successor. For Obama, with a frightening record on gun control, the 2007 Veterans Disarmament Act might be the blessing Obama needs to begin disarming bitter, clinging Americans.

Let's review an imporant philosophy before discussing Bush's sin.

The Second Amendment reads: A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

Our forefathers knew that armed citizens would prevent the government from becoming too powerful and straying off the path of freedom the Constitution insures us. We have a responsibility to bear arms and prepare to for fight for our freedom and liberty. It's just that simple. If you aren't packing, you're not fulfilling your duty.

The Veterans Disarmament Act (VDA) removes gun rights from our most important citizens, those men and women who served in the armed forces protecting freedom. The VDA states that any veteran diagnosed with post traumatic stress syndrome will automatically be listed on the federal gun ban. Up to 140,000 veterans, according to Gun Owners of America, have already been disarmed and/or placed on the registry to prevent ownership of any new rifles, shotguns, or handguns. The act doesn't stop there. Any person who has had a restraining order, handed out like candy on Halloween, or diagnosed with ADHD are banned as well.

I don't have to tell you that pharmacutical companies have influenced the psychologists to increase the diagnosis of ADHD. Parents around the country are guilty of robbing their children of there unique personalities, following the advice of doctors pushing Ritalin, Concerta, Adderall, and a whole list of other mind altering drugs. Many of these parents would freak if they found out these kids ever smoked a joint, and yet they allow these drugs to mellow out their hyperactive children.

I have to ask, for those who have served, what keeps the government from going back into the medical records of millions of service men and women? The military offers counseling for depression in its medical facilities. Who is to say the government won't target these former members next? A wife leaves her husband while he is serving overseas, and he sees a counselor. Will that be a red flag? They will abuse this law.

It applies to civilians as well. After scumbag Seung-Hui Cho decided to let loose on Virginia Tech, liberals felt it was the time to restrict our freedoms even further. The VAD, also known as the NICS Improvement Amendments Act of 2007, quickly passed after the shootings. Cho wasn't in the military. He wasn't even in ROTC. He was just a loser who decided to take his own misery out on other students. Once again, we see government disguises bills.

What stops the government from requiring Ted Nugent, for example, to be tested. The Motor City Madman turns 60 next month and has energy unknown to most 60 year olds. Could the government consider Uncle Ted ADHD? I believe it's a real possibility, and it's a possibility for everyone else who has taken the legal road of registering your firearms. How are you going to defend yourself if they are providing the doctors?

The Saturday night before the election, I heard Obama speak. His message to Missouri's bitter clingers was that he was a friend to the Second Amendment. In fact, it was a theme for the night. With Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World's headquarters a mile down the road, Obama knew he was in the heart of gun country. Claire McCaskill begain the pro Second Amendment rhetoric and Obam drove it home. The blind cheered.

I lived in Chicago for 12 years, and never once did I hear this pro Second Amendment rhetoric come from Obama's lips. There is no better city in the United States to fight for the Second Amendment than Chicago. You can apply for a license to buy a gun if you live in the city, but Mayor Richard Daley's iron fist isn't going to stamp approved on the application no matter how stellar your record is. Obama, the Constitutional scholar, never onced challenged Mayor Daley. Some friend of the Second Amendment, right? You didn't even lift a finger, did you Obama?

The polticians posted the signs of change, and we have a responsibility to prepare. We need to understand what the Second Amendment instructs our responsibilities are. We need to join the National Rifle Association, the Gun Owners of American, and other pro Second Amendment lobbies that fight for our rights. Most importanty, you owe it to yourself to follow the instructions of our wise forefathers. They knew politicians fear armed citizens.

  1. Bravo, Clay! I agree that many children who are perfectly normal are taking drugs to calm them down. Most children are full of energy, some more than others. I guess it's easier to turn them into zombies than to actually deal with them as people!

I don't believe Obama is any friend of the second amendment either. I heard too much of the opposite view come out of his mouth before he won the primaries. There's one video of him that I had posted at the top of my blog for several weeks because it was so scary. You've probably seen it, but if you didn't, it's now too late because it's been removed from You Tube. No surprise there! In it he said how he would reduce the military, get rid of nuclear weapons, and ruin the coal industry!

I didn't know citizens of Chicago could not purchase a gun. For some strange reason it doesn't surprise me, but it is against the second amendment. I need weapons where I live because I'm out in the country and it takes law inforcement a long time to get to our farm. I have weapons that are registered, but I also have weapons that are not registered because they are antiques, and as such are not required to be registered. We do have ammunition for them and they are in fine working condition. Unfortunately, not many people are that lucky.

  2. As the parent of a child with ADHD I can tell you it is real and is much more than an overenergetic child, and yes it is overdiagnosed and I have found out the hard way that drug treatment is not the cure. I urge anyone who feels there child might be ADHD or ADD to read a book named "Why is My Child Hyperactive" by Dr. Ben Fiengold. This book shows how you can "cure" your child through diet. It produces dramatic results without any of the problems that drug therapy causes.

Sorry about the captcha. I hate them just like you, but the spambots have gotten ridiculous.
